Chapter 6: The Yan Clone Moves Out
Big Head was, in fact, a stillborn child.
He was born into a peasant family in ancient China. Due to his deformities, his father did not want him, and being frail and sickly, he did not receive timely medical care, leading to his early demise.
However, his mother was a traditional and virtuous woman. Despite the family's lack of wealth, she could not blame her husband but instead did everything in her power to ensure that Big Head lived as long as possible.
In his final moments, she forcefully squeezed her milk to feed him, hoping that the unfortunate Big Head could at least die with a full stomach rather than starve.
Then the world changed. Hundreds of years later, he became a wandering spirit. After nearly another century passed, he had only advanced to being a mere ghost.
It was then that he met Lian Yun. Lian Yun's affection for him gave him a sense of brotherhood and paternal care, which made him naturally devoted to her.
Recently, however, Lian Yun's power had surged dramatically. She rarely used the Ghost Battle Body anymore, making him feel somewhat useless. Thus, he worked hard to improve his own strength, hoping that even as an individual entity, he could contribute to Lian Yun.
Initially, he had only intended to welcome newcomers and then return to his cultivation. He never expected to be treated in such a manner.
Yet the maternal love radiating from Su Fang was genuine, without a hint of falsehood, evoking deep nostalgia and longing within him.
However, Su Fang's mind was currently somewhat unclear, behaving like a wild beast. As a result, she treated Big Head quite roughly.
Soon enough, everyone dispersed.
Meanwhile, Lian Yun's avatar continued forging equipment while Leze practiced swordsmanship. Yan waited until Su Fang tightly embraced Big Head and regained some semblance of rationality before saying, "Su Fang, summon the Nine Offspring. I will forge them a set of Soul Gear."
Due to the genuine willingness involved, Su Fang looked at Lian Yun with less hatred in her eyes. However, she still coldly replied, "They are merely a part of my body. What equipment do they need? And since they often dissipate, what use is there for any gear?"
At this moment, her understanding was clear.
However, Lian Yun shook his head slightly and said, "Although I do not wish for you to participate in any battles, when it becomes absolutely necessary, I still hope to rely on your strength."
"Even though the Nine Offspring are merely a part of your body, their death would cause you the agony of soul tearing, which is not something I want to see."
Su Fang's gaze remained unchanged, still cold, but after a moment of contemplation, she replied, "No need."
During her time with Qin Jiuwang, she had endured enough punishments that she had become numb to the pain of soul tearing. Moreover, giving the Demon Forging Equipment meant that once the Demon died, the equipment would naturally shatter, which was somewhat inconsequential to Su Fang.
Yet Lian Yun still did not want Su Fang to suffer too much.
However, whether it was due to Su Fang's dignity as a Monarch or her unclear state of mind, Lian Yun's hesitant attitude irritated her. She emphasized her anger by saying, "No need."
"Boss, give her some more Purple Qi for cultivation." Big Head said with a face full of despair, hurriedly adding his suggestion.
It seemed he was also afraid of Su Fang's outburst.
Lian Yun immediately felt a headache coming on and nodded speechlessly.
His concern was causing confusion.
As long as they provided Su Fang with enough Purple Qi for cultivation, she would be able to attain an Immortal Body. Once she reached a certain level of cultivation, even if the Nine Ghosts were scattered by someone, she would have the ability to reclaim the souls of the Nine Offspring without suffering any loss herself.
In a way, as long as Su Fang absorbed a sufficient amount of Purple Qi, her Nine Offspring would no longer need the ability to resurrect infinitely.
If one does not die, why need rebirth?
With that thought in mind, Lian Yun decided not to dwell further on it and focused all his efforts on forging the Soul Gear.
First, there was the Soul Gear of Yan Clone, an ancient robe, trousers, cloth shoes, a belt, and a headscarf, along with a Soul Sword. These were merely high-level Soul Gear, not Supreme.
This was because Yan Clone was only at the Peak of Kings realm, while Lian Yun intended to shape Yan into the image of an ancient swordsman to avoid drawing too much attention from outsiders.
Once Yan's equipment was completed, it was time for Yang Zai Xing and Yan Lie. Yang Zai Xing wore a set of dragon-patterned general armor and wielded a spear. Yan Lie's gear was more complex, consisting of a helmet, neck armor, back plate, saddle, and limb guards.
Under normal circumstances, horseshoes would be required; however, since Yan Lie was a Soul Body, there would be no wear on horseshoes, so Lian Yun did not bother with that.
The preparation for one person and one horse took Lian Yun nearly a week.
Next came the Twelve Fierce Warriors, who received twelve sets of unified infantry armor with only slight variations. Their weapons included long spears, short knives, and round shields.
Zhao Jinlong and Zhao Jinhui each received a vest, shorts, a large machete, a single-arm guard, and a claw glove.
By this time, it was the fifteenth of August.
The Mid-Autumn Festival event was quite large; compared to other festival activities, the interactions during the Mid-Autumn Festival were relatively dangerous.
Participants would accept quests to hunt Chaos Beasts. Even defeating the Chaos Beasts on the BSS Tower and Challenge Platform would yield mooncake boxes. Opening these boxes could provide Spirit Coins and various materials.
However, the levels were not high; it was mainly a matter of quantity.
Lian Yun planned to go to Handan City to accept the Sovereign Quest to defeat the Supreme Chaos Beast. The mooncake boxes obtained from this quest had a chance to yield Diamond Spirit Coins.
Through the High Emperor Beast Tide event, nearly everyone in Yin Yang City felt an unsettling sense that at any moment, they could lose everything.
So now, almost all factions in the Sect are hoarding Spirit Coins, materials, and other resources.
After all, it is not impossible for you to exhaust all your Spirit Coins in one go and then deplete all your materials the next time.
In general, everyone in Yin Yang City is currently in a state of extreme frugality. Resources that can be avoided are kept unused, and when they must be used, they are utilized to the fullest extent possible to avoid unnecessary waste.
A day later, Lian Yun handed a mooncake box containing millions of data points to Ma Wendong, instructing him to arrange for personnel to open it.
This was the result of a full day's effort from Lian Yun and Yang Zai Xing, during which Lian Yun consumed nearly three hundred Mental Potions and five thousand Diamond Spirit Coins.
He only needed ores and Soul Materials.
Due to the Half-Emperor Set, which is currently nonexistent, and with an uncertain success rate and limited materials, Lian Yun lacked confidence. Therefore, the more materials he could collect, the better.
After the Mid-Autumn Festival Activities, Lian Yun entered the Forging Equipment state once again. He simultaneously began his sixth Ultimate Ascension to Emperor.
The fifth attempt had been relatively quick due to a previous experience in Dream of the Ancient Times, so in reality, Lian Yun did not spend much time on it. The sixth attempt was expedited by Lian Yun's high Mental Power and his understanding of Vibrational Force to a certain degree. This allowed him to accelerate his progress without deliberately pausing, resulting in a shorter duration as well.
On one day between those two months, Yan Clone donned the Transformative Mask and brought Chen Er Gou with him as they teleported to the imperial city through the Teleportation Array, arriving at what is known as Yin City.
