Chapter 8 Treasure Box Reward
The five percent may seem small, but it is cumulative. This means that within the next year, Lian Yun will receive at least one hundred and twenty-five percent more rewards for completing tasks in Xianyang City. Additionally, the Baron title also comes with a certain bonus.
Perhaps this is an invisible pressure, pushing Lian Yun to take on tasks frantically. Or maybe it is a form of cultivation, allowing someone with Lian Yun's talents to grow rapidly.
To understand the significance of a twenty-five percent increase in rewards: it equates to Lian Yun completing four tasks and receiving the same rewards as others who complete five, while the time saved is difficult to quantify.
With this in mind, Lian Yun felt an urge to start taking on tasks.
However, instead of accepting any missions right away, Lian Yun decided to head to his new residence after bidding farewell.
Three acres of land is roughly equivalent to two thousand square meters. This area is quite large, so it couldn't be located in a bustling area but rather on the outskirts near one. Yet when Lian Yun arrived at his residence, he was somewhat speechless to find that it was just an empty plot of land.
To remedy this, Lian Yun took out the token given by Li Si and followed the instructions on it to establish four walls for his residence. He then designated a private courtyard for himself in one corner. After that, he set up a Teleportation Array and entered the names of Ma Wenlong and others.
Once they naturally received the message and teleported over, Lian Yun handed over the token along with the wooden treasure box and the silver treasure box to Ma Wenlong, asking him to arrange for someone to open them.
It should be noted that Lian Yun's wooden treasure box contained millions worth of items, while the silver treasure box held hundreds of thousands. If Lian Yun were to open them himself, he wouldn't know how long it would take.
However, while Ma Wenlong was thrilled to receive both treasure boxes, he returned the silver one and handed over a smaller silver box containing several hundred items instead. He said, "Realm Master, there’s a chance that the silver treasure box contains non-tradable items. Regardless of their value, they have special uses—either triggering quests or enhancing personal abilities."
Since their faction had named itself Cloud Realm, Ma Wenlong calling Lian Yun "Realm Master" was perfectly acceptable. Even though there was a possibility that opening the silver treasure box could trigger quests, Lian Yun still handed it back to Ma Wenlong.
Shaking his head, he said, "Distribute them among yourselves. I need your full support, and I will do my best to help you grow as well. The quests triggered by the silver treasure box should all be king-level quests; it will depend on your individual fortunes."
"And I have gained the favor of Li Si, the city lord. He has allowed me to take on tasks from him, so I believe those quests will not be inferior to these triggered ones."
"Alright, this is the only benefit I can offer you at the moment, so don't refuse. As for how to construct the residence, you can decide that on your own."
The Cloud Realm had over a hundred High-Level Monarchs, yet during the Year Beast Annual Meeting, they only received a few hundred silver treasure boxes. It wasn't that Ma Wenlong and the others were lacking in strength; it was simply that the competition was too fierce!
Each person receiving thousands of silver treasure boxes could be considered a necessary item for their growth.
Upon hearing Lian Yun's words, Ma Wenlong and the others could only bow in gratitude. They then gathered the rest of their team and released all the Ghost Slaves, nearly a thousand people joyfully embarking on the task of opening treasure boxes together.
Lian Yun instructed Tian Shou to collect all available mission strategies from Xianyang City before returning to his courtyard to begin opening the Golden Treasure Boxes.
In Lian Yun's possession were over four thousand Golden Treasure Boxes. He also had his Ghost Slaves assist in opening them, allowing them some fresh air.
With more than four thousand treasure boxes and over twenty people working together, each person ended up with fewer than two hundred. Once they finished opening them all and gathered everything together, Lian Yun began to take stock.
Among them were nearly two thousand Diamond Spirit Coins, and each treasure box yielded between one thousand to two thousand Honor Points. As a result, Lian Yun obtained over two million Honor Points, which was a tremendous surprise for him.
However, for a Peerless Monarch who typically received around three thousand Golden Treasure Boxes, even two million Honor Points was not considered much. It's important to note how few Peerless Monarchs there were in the entire Yin Yang City. The status of a Peerless Monarch could essentially be likened to that of a duke; thus, comparing one billion to two million was like comparing a mere fraction.
For them, the main gain was likely still the Diamond Spirit Coins—not for their economic value but for their utility.
The Diamond Spirit Coins and Honor Points accounted for over ninety-five percent of all Lian Yun's Golden Treasure Boxes. Among the remaining five percent, ninety-nine percent consisted of large Soul Materials. Altogether, it seemed he could forge more than ten sets of armor from them, which was indeed a significant harvest.
The final special items numbered in the dozens, with ninety percent being weapons—very fine ones at that. While these might be considered useless trinkets for a Peerless Monarch, they were powerful weapons for kings and would even be suitable for Medium Monarchs.
Lian Yun kept a Supreme longsword named Feihong for himself and had Big Head deliver the remaining items to Ma Wenlong for distribution as needed.
Aside from the Supreme Weapon, there were also eleven bottles of Mental Potion, which made Lian Yun pleasantly surprised.
The remaining items totaled thirteen, among which was an ancient zither named Hundred-Year Phoenix. Without a second thought, Lian Yun decided to gift it to her newly recognized sister, Meng Yixuan, along with a beautifully crafted Jade Flute.
There were also five Formation Blueprints; three of them were for combat use, one was a Fortress Defense Formation, and the last was a Fortress Spirit Gathering Formation.
Lian Yun was unsure of the exact value of the two Fortress-level formations but believed each one would be worth no less than one thousand Diamond Spirit Coins. The effects of the three combat formations left Lian Yun somewhat dumbfounded, but since they were incredibly powerful, she decided to keep them for her own use and did not bother estimating their value.
Among the remaining six items was a hammer named Breaking Wind, made of Soul Material. At first, Lian Yun thought it was just a weapon, but upon closer inspection, she carefully stored it in her spatial pouch like a treasured item. This was a hammer specifically designed for forging Soul Material, so all she needed now was a forging platform.
Additionally, there was a needle, a rusty iron shovel, and a bag of seeds. These three items belonged to the category of life profession tools, but Lian Yun chose to hold onto them for now instead of giving them to Ma Wenlong.
There was also a spiral horn from an unknown creature, measuring over three meters long and resembling a lance. It was unclear whether it was a quest item or some kind of material.
The last item was Three Golden Hairs. They were peculiar; not only were they incredibly tough, but they were also very soft and smooth, making them non-tradable.
Although this item was unknown, Lian Yun knew it was extraordinary because she had searched through the Treasure Alliance's compendium and found no mention of Three Golden Hairs.
