Chapter 141: Ancient Times
Although Boss Lady was somewhat intimidating, Lian Yun felt no significant concern. This method of cultivation had not been forced upon him; it had formed naturally and was a unique existence.
However, Boss Lady's words did make Lian Yun cautious. He understood that while the danger was minimal, he should not use it recklessly.
Having completely given up on the Alliance Tournament, Lian Yun decided to continue his cultivation.
He utilized Supreme Power to enhance his own realm.
When drawing from the realm of the Overlord, Lian Yun received seven strands of energy, which was more than half of what he could have obtained.
The strength of the Overlord was likely far beyond that of his peers; one person's power was almost equivalent to that of three or four Monarchs. Thus, Lian Yun had nearly gained half the realm of two Monarchs for himself.
This fortune and opportunity were indeed exceptional.
However, Lian Yun did not intend to keep it all for himself. First, he needed to enhance the potential of the Twelve Fierce Warriors, and then he aimed to restore Yang Zai Xing's realm. Additionally, other Ghost Slaves also required some improvement. Otherwise, when they reached Yin Yang City, they would not be able to assist him effectively.
Lian Yun was not greedy; he only aimed to elevate his realm to B-Class Peak Monarch, which was the height he had achieved three years ago.
Despite having gone through much, Lian Yun planned to start from this point. He wanted to carefully feel every bit of progress and change in his realm rather than rushing into advancement like before reaching kingship.
He had a deep understanding of his abilities from nine resets, but the King's Realm was different; he had never reached the Peak of Kings. Therefore, he intended to first address those shortcomings before considering the Ultimate Ascension to Emperor.
After a night passed, before dawn broke, Lian Yun woke up, planning to gather just a bit more Purple Qi. During the night’s cultivation, he realized he could now draw upon the energy from his Dantian. Thus, he intended to collect some Purple Qi to take back for his grandfather.
However, as Lian Yun opened the stone coffin and prepared to bid farewell to Zhang Jiao and the others, Zhang Bao spoke up: "Are you not taking this stone coffin with you?"
Lian Yun turned around and was met with the unusual gaze of the boss and the boss's wife.
Logically speaking, Lian Yun's actions were devoid of any greed; however, the looks exchanged between the boss and his wife seemed to imply that Lian Yun had done something wrong, as if he were burning bridges behind him.
This left no doubt in his mind.
Yet, Lian Yun said, "Before this, it was entirely due to the kindness and generosity of the four seniors that I was able to gain such immense rewards. Should I now continue to be greedy?"
"However, I still hope that Senior Zhang Bao can grant me a little Purple Qi!" Lian Yun bowed respectfully to Zhang Bao, a look of shame on his face.
It felt as though he was slapping himself in the face—first unable to ask for more, and now making another request.
However, Zhang Bao seemed to possess a kind of mind-reading ability. With a gentle smile, he replied, "A little is certainly no problem. However, you should take this stone coffin with you. No matter how capable your subordinates are, time is ultimately limited. As the saying goes, a clever woman cannot cook without rice. Without this stone coffin's assistance, it will be difficult to establish any influence in three to five years."
This was indeed true; Zhou Tong and others would likely not recruit individuals of exceptional strength who could not be fully controlled. Moreover, cultivating ordinary members into something formidable was not something that could be accomplished in just three to five years.
After pondering for a moment, Lian Yun nodded with a sense of shame.
With that, the boss and his wife took their leave first, and then Lian Yun shouldered the stone coffin and departed the tomb alongside Zhang Bao and Zhang Jiao.
Once outside the cave entrance, Lian Yun glanced back. Although only two hours had passed, what he had gained surpassed what most people would acquire in a lifetime. He couldn't help but sigh in wonder.
He then hurried onward until he reached the southern edge of Fengdu. After waiting for a while, he saw Purple Qi descending and realized he could fully control the amount he absorbed. He only took in less than one percent before bidding farewell and leaving.
Afterward, he activated the Sword Control Technique and quickly arrived at Fengdu Center, placing the stone coffin in the cave of the Humanoid Locust before finally departing.
Though he no longer cared about the Alliance Tournament, Lian Yun felt an overwhelming urge to return home. He knew that having been 'out of contact' for two long periods would surely cause his family great concern.
There was also the concern that Zhou Tong and the others might not be able to rest easy.
From the Fengdu Center to the northern edge of Fengdu, not a single person was in sight. This struck Lian Yun as peculiar; he hadn't expected the allure of the Alliance Tournament to be so great that it had drawn everyone away from Fengdu.
Outside of Fengdu, he spotted an armored vehicle waiting about ten miles away.
Understanding the situation, Lian Yun arrived almost instantly and soon found Liu Lao, Zhou Tong, Murong Ying, Jiang Ao, and a total of sixteen others.
Without a doubt, all sixteen wore expressions of disbelief and surprise.
However, before they could speak, Lian Yun bowed slightly to Liu Lao and handed a severed claw to Zhou Tong.
Then he spoke in a serious tone, “Four things: first, this severed claw will allow you to roam freely within Fengdu, even against kings, and it can control most Evil Spirits. However, I did not test it in the very center; you should not attempt it lightly.”
“Pfft~~” Zhou Tong nearly spat out blood.
If Lian Yun had been more perceptive, he would have realized that Zhou Tong's reaction was not one of shock or joy but rather pain and regret—regret for having given Huang Wenjie and others the locations of over a hundred Spiritwoods.
Had that transaction not occurred, he could have obtained more than a hundred fully matured Spiritwoods.
Yet Lian Yun continued without pause: “The second matter is that I placed a stone coffin in a cave at the center of Fengdu. It can help someone break through their limits. Whether you leave it there or take it with you is up to you.”
“Thirdly, within three to five years, the Peerless Demon Master will likely attack the capital. You should consider this carefully!”
“Lastly~~” Lian Yun hesitated for a moment before continuing, “Lastly~~~ ancient~~ ancient!”
With that, Lian Yun turned to leave.
At that moment, Liu Lao hurriedly said, "The League is just outside Divine Sword Mountain."
Lian Yun was somewhat surprised. He indeed intended to go to the Alliance Tournament location to inform his family of his safety, but he had thought that the Alliance Tournament would be held within the capital.
However, considering the reward from the Sword Forging Ancestor, it made sense to him.
So Lian Yun nodded and disappeared on the spot.
This left Zhou Tong and the other fifteen people still a bit dazed.
But Zhou Tong quickly regained his composure and exchanged glances with Murong Ying and Jiang Ao. The three of them nodded simultaneously, confirming their plan to bring the stone coffin out. Although they were still unsure of the specific effects of the coffin, they all understood that if it could help someone break through, it would undoubtedly be a treasure more valuable than all of Fengdu's Spiritwood combined. How could they allow it to remain in Fengdu?
Murong Ying pondered, "Does Young Master Yun's ancient reference imply cold weapons?"
Jiang Ao, being more cautious, replied, "From what Young Master Yun just said, he must have obtained some important information. Perhaps the capital is the last place where the Peerless Demon Master set up his formation. And the Peerless Demon Master likely does not intend for the people of Huaxia to face mass extinction, so Young Master Yun's implication should concern cold weapons and manpower."
"In other words, the Peerless Demon Master's grand formation will probably restrict our human race from using all firearms, and even limit our realm strength. It may even affect the Demon Clan's ability to pass through walls." Zhou Tong said solemnly, a wicked smile creeping onto his face.
