Chapter 14: Tomb of the Overlord and Fan Zeng
However, the other party did not respond directly but instead said slowly, "Do you possess Monarch power?"
"Just barely, my strength is insufficient," Lian Yun replied honestly.
The other party immediately frowned, seemingly dissatisfied with something.
The Boss then said, "Mr. Fan need not worry. With this one's abilities, as long as we assist him in breaking through to the Monarch level, it shouldn't be a major problem."
Mr. Fan shook his head and said, "Without Monarch power, the two of you simply cannot control him!"
Lian Yun interjected, "May I ask who you are? Is having Monarch power all that is required?"
Mr. Fan nodded, "Yes! It requires three individuals with Monarch power and sufficient vitality to restrain him at present. Although it won't take too long, it will still require about an hour and a quarter."
"Can we use Ghost Battle Body?"
Boss Lady expressed some surprise, "Is your strength sufficient with Ghost Battle Body?"
She seemed to believe that if Lian Yun used Ghost Battle Body, it would be equivalent to possessing Monarch-level strength.
However, Lian Yun shook his head and said, "I have a Ghost Friend with great strength, but his current realm is insufficient; I will need half a day's time."
"Alright then. While allowing your Ghost Slave to break through, you should also attempt to reach the Monarch level yourself. That way, we will have more assurance. What do you think, Mr. Fan?" Zhang Jiao nodded.
Mr. Fan remained silent for a moment before reluctantly nodding in agreement.
Lian Yun bowed in apology, and without any reservations, he sat down on the spot, closing his eyes in deep thought.
He first directed his mind into the Box, temporarily halting Yang Zai Xing's absorption of spiritual energy. Instead, he focused on Sword Mountain, encouraging Zhao Jinlong and Zhao Jinhui to elevate their realms as much as possible. After that, he exited the Box and plunged his consciousness into his own body, attempting to break through the Kingship barrier.
Years ago, Lian Yun had successfully broken through to Kingship on his own, so he had ample experience. Thus, he began by trying the same method he had used in the past.
However, it felt as if he had struck a cotton ball with a heavy fist—completely ineffective. At the same time, he sensed that the current Kingship barrier was infinitely more solid than the one he had faced before. A wave of doubt washed over him. Yet, he did not dwell on his disappointment for long and instead focused all his energy on the challenge.
He doubled his strength with each attempt: once, twice, then quadrupled it on the third try. Yet that invisible wall remained steadfast, showing no signs of budging.
This was yet another moment for Lian Yun to feel the difficulty of Ultimate Ascension to Kingship. A shiver ran through him as he thought that if he attempted to break through again, this wall might not just be immovable; it could be infinitely thick, completely severing his chances of becoming a king.
Quickly shaking off these thoughts, Lian Yun poured all his strength into attacking the wall, throwing punch after punch.
Time passed without him noticing. Eventually, Lian Yun felt utterly exhausted; however, the invisible wall showed no sign of yielding. This left him feeling powerless.
Gradually waking up, he noticed many black threads covering his body. There was no foul odor; instead, a faint medicinal fragrance wafted around him. Although the scent was somewhat chaotic and slightly pungent, it was not unpleasant.
Rather than being alarmed, Lian Yun felt a surge of joy because he realized this was the poison from within his body. Although only a small amount had been expelled, he believed that given enough time, he could eliminate all of it. At that point, breaking through to the King's Realm would be within reach.
Understanding this, Lian Yun checked the time and confirmed that plenty remained. He closed his eyes again to cultivate and prepared to challenge the Kingship barrier once more.
This time, Lian Yun truly cleared his mind of distractions and desires; all he focused on was crashing against that invisible wall.
Once again exhausted but unwilling to awaken just yet, Lian Yun continued to cultivate. After recovering about one-third of his energy, he charged at the wall again. Once more drained but resolute in his efforts to recover fully before waking up for a second time.
Time was nearly up.
Lian Yun did not greet the four elders but instead summoned Sword Mountain, Zhao Jinlong, Zhao Jinhui, and Big Head.
In his first attempt, Sword Mountain took the form of 'trousers', while Zhao Jinlong and Zhao Jinhui formed a half-body armor, and Big Head became a helmet. After reflecting on his experience, Lian Yun realized that his current strength was not quite sufficient, so he dismissed the Ghost Battle Body and reassembled it once more.
This time, Zhao Jinlong and Zhao Jinhui formed one pant leg up to the waist, while Sword Mountain became a chestplate with two long sleeves, and Big Head remained a helmet.
The Ghost Battle Body this time was much more cohesive than before, likely due to the combination of Sword Mountain and Big Head. However, Lian Yun did not dwell on it too much; after sensing it, he found that his strength had increased by more than two points, nearly three, which made him nod in satisfaction.
After adapting once again, he looked at Mr. Fan and asked, "Senior Fan, what do you think? Is there a place for me to demonstrate my skills?"
Even though he felt he had already attained Monarch-level power without breaking through, he still humbly inquired.
Mr. Fan seemed slightly lost in thought, primarily focused not on the Sword Mountain aspect but rather on Zhao Jinlong and Zhao Jinhui.
"Could they be acquaintances?" Lian Yun wondered but did not voice the question.
Mr. Fan snapped back to attention and nodded. "He once had many warriors like them under his command; they should be sufficient."
What kind of opponent could possibly withstand the power of three Monarchs? Lian Yun was curious and asked, "Uncle Huang, whose tomb are we entering today?"
"The Overlord!"
"The Tomb of the Overlord?" Lian Yun was quite surprised.
Throughout history, there have been countless strong figures, but to be referred to as the Overlord essentially signifies Western Chu Overlord Xiang Yu.
However, Xiang Yu took his own life at the Wu River, in the region of the Guizhou Plateau. The Tomb of the Overlord is actually located in what was once Shandong. Although this place is not too far from Shandong, it is not the actual site of the Tomb of the Overlord.
Even if we consider tectonic movements, it would be impossible for such a distance to be covered. Therefore, Lian Yun was quite surprised and somewhat incredulous.
Nonetheless, Lian Yun did not ask further questions. After all, ancient tombs often have genuine and false burial sites. Moreover, even if there were archaeological evidence, it could not definitively prove that the bones found in a tomb belonged to its supposed owner.
In reality, some tombs that have been completely excavated and even verified have their owners appearing before the world from entirely different locations.
Mr. Fan nodded and said, "Although I left in a hurry back then, I knew that the Overlord would ultimately fall to Liu Bang. So I had some trusted individuals remain in the army to make certain arrangements in secret."
"Now, by chance, I possess the ability to traverse underground, yet it took me a hundred years to find his tomb. Afterward, I located a few trustworthy individuals. If time were on my side, I would seek out another person of greater strength; for now, I ask my friend to do his best."
With that, Mr. Fan slightly bowed to Lian Yun.
Lian Yun quickly stepped aside and was somewhat shocked as he asked, "Senior Fan is Fan Zeng?"
Though he had already guessed it, Lian Yun still found it hard to believe and voiced his question.
