Chapter 5: Visitors from the Maternal Family
As Lian Yun's words fell, the surrounding black mist and ghostly shadows suddenly vanished. In front of him stood a man who appeared simultaneously with the Four Elders; The One Who Acts bore some resemblance to Lian Yun—he was his Uncle, Lian An.
Lian An fixed his piercing gaze on Lian Yun, his eyes filled with a venomous intensity. The Four Elders, however, looked on in disbelief and deep fear.
It seemed that only now did they realize that Lian Yun was no longer the strong and kind-hearted child who would sacrifice everything for others. He had transformed into someone exceptionally decisive and extremely ruthless.
Lian An clenched his fists so tightly that his whole body trembled. He glared at Lian Yun and coldly said, "The family taught you martial arts just to harm your own kin? Truly, you have raised a beast—a thankless wretch."
"And what about you? You raised three children who also harmed their own kind. By that logic, you must be even worse than a beast!"
"You have severed ties with the family; you are no longer one of us!"
"Indeed! I have severed ties with the family, but killing those from the Lian Family is not considered harming my kin, is it? Moreover, you allowed your children to shoot at me! I even gave you a chance; it’s just that you didn’t know how to cherish it. Can you blame me for that? You were unkind first; I am merely acting in self-defense. After all, you are a First-Class Monarch! How could I possibly compete with you?"
"Then there was no need for you to kill your two cousins!" one Elder exclaimed, his eyes still filled with disbelief and fear.
Yet Lian Yun merely smiled calmly and replied, "You four know better than I who Lian An is. I am afraid—afraid he would sacrifice one child's life to kill me. That is why I killed Lian Hao and Lian Jie first, leaving him with only one child."
"But even now, I am still afraid. If he disregards Lian Xiong's life and tries to kill me, then I can only perish alongside Lian Xiong. After all, I can’t even see if there’s a Spirit beside me right now!"
After nearly three years of covert investigation, Lian Yun suspected that the conspiracy from three years ago was likely orchestrated by his Uncle, Lian An.
Lian Yun remained within the Lian Family for two reasons: to uncover the truth and to see if his grandfather had been deceived into making a grave mistake.

Yet, Lian Yun's current act of killing was not out of revenge; otherwise, he could have killed from the very beginning instead of waiting until now. It was because he was genuinely afraid.
If someone could harm their own biological brother, what wouldn't someone like Lian An do to achieve their goals?
The main issue was that he had lost all his spiritual power. Just moments ago, he could only feel a chilling wind and could not see any Spirits. He was uncertain whether there were Spirits around him, which forced him to make such a desperate decision.
In response to Lian Yun's words, the four Elders felt a chill run through them, shivering involuntarily.

Upon seeing the man, Lian An and the four Elders displayed extreme surprise and fear. However, after hearing his words, they were instead filled with joy. Two of the Elders lifted the unconscious Lian Xiong, and without another word, the six of them hurriedly fled, disappearing in an instant.
The young boy who had come with the man acted strangely. He immediately reached out with claw-like hands to examine Lian Yun, pinching and poking her. He even lifted her arm and pulled open her collar, sniffing at the bloodstains on her clothes to confirm they weren't hers before nodding in satisfaction.
"Dad, after my thorough examination, my cousin is unharmed."
The man nodded but turned around to face the fast-food restaurant with a serious expression. "May I ask why you two friends are deliberately approaching the Lin Family's nephew?"
Lian Yun also turned around, looking curiously at the Boss and Boss Lady of the fast-food restaurant.
The earlier shout had indeed come from the Boss.
Although the Lian Family was situated on the outskirts of King Guang City, their strength and influence were not inferior to any power within the city. The fact that the Boss had spoken up at that moment indicated that he did not fear the Lian Family.
This meant he could be a formidable individual or someone of significant power.
