In a slightly sturdy corner by the wall, God Tone clumsily tried to sit down with his plump body, but his mood was evidently frantic. He kept glancing around and rubbed his hands together anxiously, muttering to himself, "Damn! What are we going to do now? Are we going to be trapped here? What about Sergeant Rad?"
As his voice rose, God Tone's tone began to reveal a hysterical emotion, the palpable anxiety and panic making the air feel heavier. Sunan leaned painfully against another wall; though he remained silent, his eyes were filled with exhaustion and helplessness. Despite God Tone's screams ringing in his ears, Sunan knew that every worry God Tone had was not unfounded. Their current situation was indeed very dangerous and could pose a long-term threat to their safety.
Under such pressure, everyone's reactions were different. God Tone expressed his panic through words, while Sunan chose to silently endure, the intertwining of inner unease and physical pain leaving him feeling almost powerless. Nevertheless, the most important thing now was to find a way to ensure that he and his teammates could safely escape from this wreckage.
Amidst the rubble, Polnareff showcased his military experience and leadership skills. He alertly sat up, trying to keep his body steady to avoid further injuring the already severely wounded Sergeant Rad. Polnareff scanned the surroundings, first confirming that Yanyan and Yolo were nearby; they seemed to have fainted in their panic, safely curled up under a still sturdy shield. Grateful that they had not suffered more direct blows provided Polnareff with a small sense of comfort.
His attention then shifted back to the more pressing issue—Sergeant Rad's injuries. Polnareff cautiously approached him, knowing that any rough movement could cause fatal secondary injuries to Rad in such circumstances. He carefully checked Rad's breathing and pulse, finding faint signs of life, which eased Polnareff's worries somewhat.
Having confirmed that Rad still showed signs of life, Polnareff quickly thought through a plan. He realized they needed an emergency evacuation strategy. Calmly addressing God Tone and Sunan, he said, "We need to find a way out. First, we must ensure Rad isn't further injured; then the three of us who can move need to find a way to call for help as soon as possible." Polnareff's voice was filled with determination, giving both the equally tense God Tone and Sunan some confidence.
"Yanyan and Yolo seem to have just fainted; they're temporarily safe. God Tone, Sunan, we need to work together to lift these stones and create an escape route." Polnareff's plan was straightforward and powerful; they had no time to waste.
In the tense atmosphere, Sunan tried to support himself to stand up, but the sharp pain prevented him from doing so. A cry of agony escaped him as he instinctively fell back down, his expression twisted in evident pain. Each attempt felt like further tormenting himself with suffering; however, Sunan did not give up. He struggled on, trying to rise even in despair because he knew this was not the time for weakness.
God Tone watched Sunan's efforts with a heart full of helplessness and anxiety. He clearly understood that as the least injured one among them, he should be the one stepping up. Yet at the moment he prepared to stand up, he felt an overwhelming sense of powerlessness and cowardice deep within him—a wave of unease and fear enveloped him. Deep inside, voices of laziness, timidity, and weakness warned him incessantly, paralyzing him with feelings of inadequacy and self-loathing.
This internal struggle left God Tone feeling guilty and frustrated; he deeply sensed his own weakness and inability. However, just as he wrestled with self-doubt, a small voice echoed in his mind: "You can do it, God Tone; you are their friend; your actions can save their lives." This voice was like the first ray of sunlight at dawn, giving God Tone the courage and hope he needed.
He took a deep breath and pushed away the invisible grip holding him back before standing firmly. Turning towards Polnareff, he said, "Polnareff, tell me what to do; I'm ready." Although God Tone's voice still trembled slightly, it was filled with determination and resolve. He was prepared to face his fears and step up for his friends.
Polnareff smiled slightly in response to God Tone's newfound determination but then quickly turned serious again. He scanned their cramped surroundings once more, looking at the mountain of stones piled around them; the oppressive atmosphere made the air feel even thinner.
“God Tone, I know you’re ready, and that’s great. But right now, we are faced with these rocks and a severely low oxygen supply. Our top priority is to find a way out while ensuring everyone has enough air to breathe.” Polnareff's tone was commanding, his calmness particularly reassuring in this critical moment.
He turned to the remaining companions, Yanyan and Yolo, both still unconscious. “We need to ensure ventilation in this area and find a way outside. God Tone, can you help me clear the debris over there? This way, we can expand the space and rescue Rad and the others.”
God Tone nodded, though his expression still showed some hesitation, his actions were decisive. He began to move the stones in front of him, and with each rock he shifted, more light flooded into the cramped space. Polnareff carefully checked Sergeant Rad's injuries while keeping an eye on Sunan and the others.
Polnareff knew their time was limited, and oxygen was a precious lifeline. He took a deep breath, focusing on directing every step and movement, hoping to find a path to safety in the shortest time possible. Their survival now depended on his leadership and God Tone's actions.
