Ma Hao fell silent for a moment before speaking. "But my dad is back." 0

"They had another fight, and my dad even hit my mom." 0

I frowned. 0

"Teacher Lin, I'm sorry." 0

Ma Hao apologized again, his voice trembling. "I really didn't know things would turn out like this." 0

"I don't know what to do anymore." 0

His voice was thick with emotion. 0

I sighed. "I understand." 0

"Ma Hao, please tell your mom that if she doesn't apologize by three o'clock this afternoon, I will call the police." 0

Ma Hao acknowledged me and hung up the phone. 0

I sat in front of my computer, staring at the post. The comment section was in chaos. Some were cursing me for being shameless, while others defended me. The two sides were locked in a fierce argument. 0

As I read through the comments, I suddenly laughed. 0

In fact, I was quite grateful to Ma Hao's mother. Her outburst had inadvertently rallied more people to my side. Now, I had enough reason to call the police. 0

I took out my phone and was about to dial when a loud horn blared from downstairs. 0

I walked to the window and leaned out to look down. It was Ma Hao's mother. She stood at the foot of my building with a few others, shouting into a megaphone. 0

"Hey, you up there!" 0

"If you don't give me an explanation today, I'm not leaving!" 0

"You shameless bitch, seducing someone else's husband—may you never find peace!" 0

The people behind Ma Hao's mother joined in her shouts. 0

I glanced at the time; it was two-thirty in the afternoon. 0

"Half an hour left," I murmured to myself. 0

I took out my phone again, ready to call the police when... 0

The shout of Ma Hao's mother suddenly grew louder. 0
"You think hiding away will save you from me?" 0
"I swear, I'm going to drag you out today!" 0

I heard her voice from downstairs and hurried down. 0
When she saw me, it was as if fire was about to burst from her eyes. 0
"You shameless woman, you finally dare to come down!" she spat through gritted teeth. 0

Without a word, I stepped forward and slapped her twice. 0
Afterward, I quickly hid behind Gao Xiang. 0
Our neighbors from the community gathered around, shielding me from her. 0

Ma Hao's mother was so furious her face twisted in anger. 0
She pointed at me and shouted, "You woman, have you no shame?!" 0
"You're a mistress and still dare to hit someone!" 0
"Where do you get the guts?" 0

I peeked out from behind Gao Xiang and shouted back, "You say I'm a mistress; do you have any evidence?" 0
Ma Hao's mother was momentarily stunned into silence. 0
"You’re just making baseless accusations without proof!" I continued loudly. 0

After a brief silence, she finally spoke up, "Of course I have evidence!" 0
"Then show us the evidence!" Gao Xiang shouted back. 0
"If you have proof, let’s call the police right now!" 0
"If you don’t have any evidence, then get out of here!" 0

Ma Hao's mother fell silent. 0
Clearly, she had no evidence at all. 0
I thought for a moment and decided to call the police. 0
"Hello, I want to report something." 0
"Someone is spreading rumors that I'm a mistress." 0
"Yes, right downstairs from my apartment; please hurry." 0

After hanging up the phone, I looked at Ma Hao's mother and said, "I've already called the police." 0
"Weren't you saying you had evidence? When the police arrive, show them your proof." 0

Ma Hao's Mother’s expression turned grim. The people behind her exchanged glances, unsure of what to do. 0

"Um... we're just here to help," one of them stammered. 0

"Yeah, we don't want to end up in the police station," another added. 0

"If you have evidence, just show it already. Don't drag us into this," a third voice chimed in. 0

"I..." Ma Hao's Mother opened her mouth but couldn't find the words. Time ticked by slowly. 0

Before long, the police arrived. 0

"Who called the police?" an officer asked. 0

"It was me," I raised my hand and said loudly. "She’s spreading rumors that I'm a mistress and claims she has evidence." 0

"I hope you can make her present that evidence in front of everyone and clear my name!" 0

The officer nodded. "Alright." He turned to Ma Hao's Mother. "You say you have evidence, right?" 0

"Show us the evidence." 0

Ma Hao's Mother hesitated, her resolve wavering. The neighbors began to stir restlessly. 0

"Weren't you saying you had evidence? Hurry up and show it!" one shouted. 0

"Yeah, don’t waste our time!" another added. 0

"I bet she can't produce any evidence; she's just talking nonsense!" someone else exclaimed. 0

Ma Hao's Mother took a few steps back, only to be pushed forward again by the others around her. 0
