"The child is fine." Gao Xiang patted my head, "Don't be nervous."
I let out a sigh of relief.
"How did I end up here?"
"You fainted from low blood sugar because you didn't eat breakfast before leaving this morning."
"Thank goodness the child is okay; otherwise, I would definitely hold you accountable."
I smiled lightly and said nothing.
Suddenly, I caught sight of a familiar figure flash by the doorway.
It was Ma Hao.
He was looking down, seemingly hesitant to come in.
"Ma Hao?" I called out to him, "Come in."
Only then did Ma Hao slowly step inside.
"Teacher Lin, I'm sorry," Ma Hao said softly.
I looked at him without speaking.
"I really regret being pulled out of the mire by you back then."
"If it weren't for you..."
I sighed, "To be honest, I'm feeling a bit regretful now."
Ma Hao froze, lifting his head to look at me.
I forced a bitter smile, "Your mother has been targeting me, causing me unnecessary trouble. I really do regret taking you on as a student."
"But when you first started school, your grades were so poor that I genuinely considered giving up on you."
"Yet your mother came to find me again."
I remember that on the first day I took over this class, Ma Hao's mother came to see me. She hoped that I would pay some attention to Ma Hao and not let his studies affect Ma's father's view of him. At the time, I thought she was just a concerned mother, so I didn’t say much. But later, I learned that Ma Hao's grades were tied to his status in the the Ma Family.
When Ma Hao first started school, he was quite mischievous. He would sleep during class and disappear after school, and his grades were the worst among all the students. So at first, I really didn’t want to deal with him. However, his performance was so poor that I had no choice but to take an interest.
Eventually, I noticed that every time I called a parent, Ma Hao would get excited. But when he saw that it was his mother who came, his excitement would turn into disappointment. What he really wanted was just his father's attention.
So, I began to communicate with Ma Hao in different ways. His grades started to improve. Each time he made progress, I would send a text message to Ma Hao's father to inform him of his achievements and encourage him to praise Ma Hao. Gradually, Ma Hao's grades rose from the bottom to the middle of the class.
“Teacher Lin, I will voluntarily transfer schools.”
"Ma Hao" said softly, "I'm really sorry about what happened this time. I caused you harm."
I looked at him and asked, "Ma Hao, do you remember why you worked so hard at the beginning?"
"Ma Hao" paused for a moment. "I remember at first, I wanted to go against my parents."
"They didn't like me at all. Even if my grades were poor, no one cared."
"Later, I understood that studying was for my own life, not for them."
"So even if they don't care about me, I will still study hard."
I smiled and asked, "Do you know what to do now?"
"Ma Hao" nodded. "I should have a good talk with my mom and make it clear that my life is my own, not a tool for her to compete for affection."
"Teacher Lin, thank you."
"And I'm sorry."
"Being a rich kid isn't as easy as it seems."
After "Ma Hao" left, "Gao Xiang" sighed.
I smiled but said nothing.
The next day, "Ma Hao's Mother" came to the hospital.
"Teacher Lin, I'm really sorry about what happened yesterday." "Ma Hao's Mother" lowered her head. "I was too impulsive, and I apologize to you."
"I will cover all your expenses during your hospital stay, please forgive me!"
I quickly waved my hand, "No, no, I have health insurance, you don't need to spend any money."
"Just save your money and buy more books for Ma Hao."
