Captain Wang extended his hand to Xu Yiman and said, "My name is Wang Chao, the head of the Criminal Investigation Team at Jinlun Road Police Station. Nice to meet you. This is..." 0

Just as Captain Wang was about to introduce Jiang He to Xu Yiman, he suddenly realized he didn't even know the name of the person beside him. 0

At that moment, Jiang He was also observing Xu Yiman, specifically her hands. They had long fingers and fair skin, but that wasn't what caught Jiang He's attention. He noticed the faintly yellowish calluses on her index and middle fingers, along with slightly thickened joints, neatly trimmed nails, and the steady way she held her hand without any tremor. This led Jiang He to a clear conclusion: 0

The person in front of him had once been a surgeon who frequently performed operations, and the faint smell of formaldehyde surrounding her indicated that she had recently transitioned to being a Forensic Doctor, having just come from the Autopsy Room. 0

Her clean clothes, spotless shoes, and unmade-up face suggested a strong sense of responsibility. Yet, Jiang He could also see a hint of her emotional side reflected in the cartoon hair tie she used to braid her hair. 0

"Jiang He," he introduced himself. "So you must be the Forensic Doctor from the City Bureau. Please take a quick look at the two bodies and give me a brief report afterward. In particular, check if the woman at the entrance shows any signs of having been drugged, such as with sleeping pills or other sedatives." 0

Jiang He's commanding tone made Xu Yiman feel uncomfortable; she was naturally sensitive. In reality, most men tended to speak to her with a protective demeanor, so it was unusual for someone to address her this way. Observing Jiang He through a woman's unique perspective quickly gave Xu Yiman an overall impression of him. 0

Disheveled and lacking in gentlemanly manners was Xu Yiman's first impression of Jiang He. 0

"Alright," Xu Yiman shrugged. 0

"Thank you for your hard work," Captain Wang said. "But wasn't the previous Forensic Doctor Old Li?" 0

Xu Yiman nodded. "Old Li has retired honorably; we may be working together more often in the future." 0

With that, Xu Yiman stepped out of the bedroom. 0

Captain Wang shook his head and asked, "Do you suspect someone drugged Wu Guifeng?" 0

Jiang He nodded. "Yes, I need to confirm a few points—find the person who reported this and track down the security guard who broke in." 0

"How do you know it was a forced entry?" Captain Wang asked while directing a detective to search for evidence. 0

Jiang He pointed to his own eyes. "Observation. Didn't you see a bloody handprint on the doorknob? Based on my analysis, I have an eighty percent certainty that it was left by Wu Guifeng. You need to look beyond the surface of this handprint to understand the reason behind it. This is an old-fashioned door lock, and the area around the lock shows clear signs of damage caused by physical force. The latch is facing down, and the door is obviously locked from the inside." 0

"So there's a problem," Jiang He said, somewhat puzzled. "The door is locked from the inside, and it was locked by Wu Guifeng. Why would Wu Guifeng lock the door from the inside?" 0

"Locking the door from the inside?" Captain Wang asked. "I usually lock my door when I'm home; what's wrong with that?" 0

Jiang He shook his head. "The timing of the locking is off." 0

"A suspect has been brought in," a detective shouted from outside. 0

As Jiang He and Captain Wang stepped out, they saw a middle school student standing outside with a security guard. 0

Captain Wang glanced around; Xu Yiman was conducting a preliminary autopsy while other detectives searched for fingerprints and other traces inside the house. 0

"Let's talk outside so we don't disturb their work," he said. 0

Unlike regular police officers who would ask for basic information, Jiang He got straight to the point. In his mind, every factor that could influence the probability of uncovering the truth needed careful analysis, while factors irrelevant to the case were not worth his time. 0

He didn't care about the names of these two individuals; instead, he asked, "What time did you see the blood?" 0

Despite the serious atmosphere, the middle school student didn't seem scared. Jiang He quickly assessed that this student was quite independent. However, the student couldn't provide an exact time: "Well, I usually get home between one and one-thirty after school. Today when I just got back, I saw a pool of blood at the entrance." 0

The middle school student recalled, "At first, I wasn't sure what it was, so I went closer to take a look. Then I smelled blood. I called out a couple of times but no one answered, so I went down to report it to property management." 0

Jiang He turned his attention to the security guard beside him. 0

It was indeed the security captain who spoke up, "That's right. At that time, the child came downstairs as if something had happened. We came up to check and found bloodstains at the door of unit 601. After that, we knocked on the door and called, but no one responded from inside. We were worried there might be some danger, so we forced the door open." 0

"What happened after you forced the door open?" Jiang He continued to ask, "What did you do?" 0

The security captain scratched his head and said, "After we forced the door open, I saw someone leaning against the shoe cabinet, and blood was flowing from her." 0

"Was she still bleeding at that time?" Jiang He asked again. 0

The security captain thought for a moment and replied, "It seemed like she wasn't anymore. Anyway, when we rushed in to check, we saw that this person was already dead, and there was another corpse in the bedroom, also dead. We initially thought about laying the bodies flat, but then Security Two Donkeys said it was best not to disturb the scene. So we let Two Donkeys keep an eye on the scene and called the police." 0

"Did anyone else come up afterward?" Jiang He inquired. 0

The security captain replied firmly, "No, before the police arrived, Two Donkeys kept watch; no one else came up." 0

After hearing the security captain's account, Captain Wang nodded and said, "Indeed, compared to some high-end area security personnel, your quality is much better. It seems that with you around, the neighborhood's safety is quite good." 0

The security captain was a straightforward man; he responded, "It's not that great. Our area is old; the doors and windows are wooden. There have been quite a few thefts here. Recently it seems a couple of thieves have targeted this area and managed to steal from one or two places. Fortunately, there hasn't been any significant loss; at least when they stole things, people weren't home." 0

Captain Wang felt a bit awkward and cleared his throat twice without saying anything further. 0

Jiang He was quite interested in this matter; he asked again, "Has anything been stolen from this house recently?" 0

"Not that I've heard of," the security captain replied. 0

"Alright, that's all for now," Jiang He said. 0

The two stood by the side. 0

Jiang He stepped back into the room, and Captain Wang asked, "So, what have you discovered?" 0

Jiang He inquired, "Has Li Weiyi not returned yet?" 0

Captain Wang replied, "According to the basic information obtained earlier by An Jinzhong, Li Weiyi works as a salesman at a rubber factory in the city. It takes about two hours to get from here to his workplace, but considering the time, he should be back soon. An Jinzhong notified Li Weiyi after arriving at the scene." 0

"The preliminary autopsy results are out," Xu Yiman said as she clapped her hands and stood up. "The rigor mortis in both bodies is not severe; it has developed in the jaw muscles and neck. In the younger body, it has spread to the upper limbs. Both bodies have dilated pupils, but the corneal cloudiness is relatively low, indicating that death did not occur long ago. I just conducted a reflex test on both bodies and found that under mechanical stimulation, the muscles can still contract." 0

After pondering for a moment, Xu Yiman continued, "Based on my estimation, the time of death for both bodies is within two to three hours. From the condition of the bodies, it seems that the younger one has been dead longer than the older one, with a difference of no more than two hours." 0

Jiang He and Captain Wang listened intently. 0

Xu Yiman recorded her observations in her notebook while saying, "From an external examination of the bodies, the fatal injuries are all stab wounds. It is initially estimated that acute inflammation was caused by gastric fluid leaking out and excessive blood loss. Whether it's fortunate or unfortunate, neither of them actually punctured the abdominal artery; if treated promptly, they could have survived. As for any drugs involved, we cannot determine that at this stage." 0

Jiang He nodded; perhaps this was why there were no spatter patterns from the blood. 0

Although Jiang He often conducted experiments on pigs, he understood that before receiving professional training, he could never achieve the level of expertise and thoroughness that Xu Yiman displayed. What he could do was merely draw parallels between his experiments on pigs and those on humans. 0

Captain Wang stated, "I feel like this case is becoming clearer now. First of all, the door was locked from the inside; only these two people were present. Regardless of what happened between them or why it occurred, we can only focus on their situation." 0

"Secondly," Captain Wang surveyed everyone present. "We know preliminarily that He Hui Juan died first and Wu Guifeng died later, with both fatal injuries being stab wounds." 0

Xu Yiman interjected, "We cannot conclude that just yet; we need to wait for the autopsy results to make a definitive statement." 0

"I understand," Captain Wang replied. "It's not rigorous..." 0

After saying this, he suddenly looked at Jiang He, feeling that something was off. 0

"What's wrong?" Xu Yiman asked. 0

"Nothing," Captain Wang replied. "So, the basic conclusion of the case is that Wu Guifeng killed He Hui Juan and then committed suicide. As for the reasons behind it, we can continue our investigation." 0

Xu Yiman shrugged and said, "Well, you took photos at the scene, right? Once you're done, send the body to the morgue. We need an autopsy to draw any conclusions." 0

Several detectives nodded and went downstairs to prepare a body bag. 0

However, Jiang He stood at the door, blocking their way out. 0

They intended to ask Jiang He to step aside, but upon seeing his condition, they froze in place. 0

At that moment, Jiang He was frowning deeply, tugging at his messy hair as if he had lost his mind. His expression was one of pain and distortion, resembling someone in a fit. Clumps of hair were being pulled out by Jiang He, which horrified the onlookers. They couldn't understand what had happened to him; he had seemed fine just moments ago. 0

"What's wrong?" Captain Wang hurriedly stepped forward to check on him. 0
