"Director, the images are out!" Technician Zhang Hui excitedly called out to Hu Fei as he entered.
Hu Fei patted Zhang Hui on the shoulder. "You've worked hard. Keep an eye on those foreign friends of yours. In five minutes, write up a report for me, and then you can take a break."
"Yes, Director. But how should I..."
Hu Fei shot him an annoyed glance. "Just report the facts! This is such an important matter; we can't afford to be careless!"

The images were screenshots from the video and were not very clear, but they were enough to reveal the true appearance of the flying insect. It was quite large and had a strange look, with a body roughly the size of an adult's index finger.
This creature was an insect, but its body and head distinctly resembled that of a snake; however, it wasn't long enough to be a snake, and it had a pair of wings, making it impossible for it to be one. Its features were insect-like yet snake-like, leaving everyone present in silence.
No one knew what this bizarre insect was, but its appearance in the video made it clear even to the dullest observer that this creature could very well be the breakthrough in the case!
"Bai Zhuo, brother, have you... seen this kind of insect before?" Hu Fei asked as he stood next to Bai Zhuo, staring blankly at the image on the computer. Bai Zhuo shook his head in confusion, indicating that he did not recognize this insect either.
Hu Fei furrowed his brow. "Find out! Look up all similar insects and serpents!"
Moments later, Female Detective Lu raised her hand with her phone. "Director! I found an insect that looks very similar to this one!"
"Bring it up; let me see!"
"Director, look! It's this thing! It's called Elephant Hawk Moth; this is its larva!"
Li Tao pointed at the image on her phone. "It really is! It seems this creature is indeed the larva of the Elephant Hawk Moth!" However, Bai Zhuo shook his head. "It does resemble it, but what about those transparent wings? While its adult form is a moth, its larva is just a crawler and cannot possibly fly."
"Indeed, Captain Li, look, the insect in this video has a pair of wings."
"This..."
The clear clues once again became vague. Based on all the current evidence, this image was the most promising lead, yet no one present could recognize the insect. The dozens of members from the Criminal Investigation Team fell silent; a mere picture of an insect revealed nothing, and the case seemed to have returned to square one.
"I need to head back to the shop. If I'm lucky, my friend might recognize this insect," Bai Zhuo said.
"Oh? Really? That would be great!" Hu Fei exclaimed excitedly, then thought for a moment and added, "No, I should go with you, Captain Li. Cai, Lu, you guys come with me. The rest of you take this time to rest well; we’re leaving!"
Director Hu Fei was eager to solve the case. Upon hearing that Bai Zhuo had a lead, he immediately grabbed a few subordinates and prepared to set off with Bai Zhuo.
It was still raining outside. Glancing at the clock in the lobby, it was already noon. Aside from the duty officers, everyone else had gone home for a break. Just as Bai Zhuo and the others reached the door, a BMW screeched to a halt in front of the lobby. A well-dressed middle-aged man stepped out of the car; upon seeing him, Bai Zhuo recognized him as an acquaintance.
The man appeared flustered and did not notice Bai Zhuo walking beside him. He blocked Cai Wenbin and Lu, strutting arrogantly as he demanded, "Hey! Where's your director?" However, given Cai Wenbin's character and his backing, he shot a disdainful glance at the middle-aged man and completely ignored him, pointing at the driver still seated in the BMW and shouted, "No parking at the entrance! I’ll have your car impounded!"
The driver from the BMW was a woman who also looked hurried. She didn’t hear Cai Wenbin’s shout and rushed into the lobby without even opening her umbrella.
Li Tao understood Cai Wenbin's temperament and recognized that this was a critical time for the case; it wasn’t suitable to create unnecessary trouble. He stepped forward to mediate: "I am the captain of the City Criminal Investigation Team. May I ask what you need from our director?"
"Oh? The captain of the Criminal Investigation Team? Perfect! Quickly take me to find Li Lianrong; I have urgent business!"
"Sorry, Director Li is out on an errand."
"What? At least there must be someone in charge at the bureau! Take me there now!"
The middle-aged man spoke arrogantly, directly calling out for the director by name. The female driver was running quickly; dressed in black stockings and a short skirt with high heels, she moved with an alluring sway. However, her shoes were wet from water on the ground combined with the smooth tiles in the lobby. As she hurried along, she slipped unexpectedly and cried out as she stumbled toward Bai Zhuo.
Instinctively, Bai Zhuo reached out to catch the woman who was falling towards him. A familiar fragrance filled the air, and he couldn't help but notice how alluring her black stockings looked; her oval face was adorned with just the right amount of makeup, and her curvaceous figure could only be described as stunning. However, when Bai Zhuo got a good look at her face, he quickly withdrew his hands and slightly turned to the side, watching as a figure collapsed in front of him, enveloped in a strong scent.
With a loud thud, the woman hit the ground hard and lay still for a long moment. Everyone present witnessed this scene, leaving several detectives curious while further tarnishing the impression that Cai Wenbin and the female detective named Lu had of Bai Zhuo.
"Oh my Nini! Are you okay?" A middle-aged, overweight man rushed over to help the fallen woman, turning to Bai Zhuo with anger. "Do you have any conscience? She fell, and you didn’t even try to help her!"
Bai Zhuo smiled coldly. "Not helping is my duty; helping is a favor. Do you think I have any obligation to this woman? Mr. Zhu, please don’t use your lofty moral standards to bind me!" It turned out that this middle-aged man was Zhu Hui, and the woman on the ground was Bai Zhuo's first blind date—Zhang Ni.

Bai Zhuo shrugged lightly. "Did you think about your own conscience when you framed me for harassing you? Now you're asking me? Are you trying to be funny?"
Zhang Ni trembled with rage but found herself at a loss for words. How did she end up encountering such a disaster?
"I can't believe you haven't changed men! Rare... I have something to do, so I won't chat any longer. Goodbye!" This was directed at Zhang Ni as Bai Zhuo waved his hand and prepared to leave. Unexpectedly, Zhu Hui shouted, "Bai Zhuo, stop right there!"
Bai Zhuo paused in confusion and asked, "What do you want?"
"Bai Zhuo," Zhu Hui said sternly, "It's hard to believe that you're related to Chairman Huang with such morals. As someone who can be considered your elder, apologize to Zhang Ni immediately; otherwise, I’ll call Chairman Huang!"
Bai Zhuo felt increasingly disgusted by their behavior and burst into laughter.
"Hahaha—! Zhu Hui, I can hardly imagine how someone like you became a CEO! Not only did you enter Huang Jiangliu's business circle, but you've also miraculously survived until now? I truly admire you! Hahaha..."
Zhu Hui's expression turned a shade of deep red as he turned to the detectives behind him. "Look at this! "I am Hu Fei, the Deputy Director of the City Public Security Bureau. What can I do for you?"
Upon hearing this, Zhu Hui immediately smiled, "Oh! It's Director Hu! I'm Zhu Hui, the president of the Glory Group. I know your colleague Li Lianrong; we've had drinks together several times!"
Hu Fei remained unfazed and replied, "Is there something you need?"
Zhu Hui had thought that Hu Fei would be impressed by his title and at least exchange a few pleasantries with him. To his surprise, Hu Fei completely ignored him. Feeling awkward, he forced a smile and said, "It's nothing really. You haven't had lunch yet, have you? Let's call Director Li and go out for a meal together..." However, Hu Fei suddenly raised his hand to stop him: "Sorry, I have important matters to attend to." With that, he walked over to Bai Zhuo. "Brother Bai Zhuo, lead the way. Let's go."
Bai Zhuo nodded and got into the police car with Hu Fei. As they left the police station, the other officers knew they couldn't linger around any longer. They quickly pushed past Zhu Hui and his companion to get into their own cars and followed suit, leaving Zhu Hui and Zhang Ni standing in the lobby in a daze.
Zhang Ni stumbled heavily and fell. Already in pain, she felt even more jealous seeing how respectfully the Deputy Director treated Bai Zhuo. She felt wronged and pouted before bursting into tears, her makeup running down her face. To comfort her, Zhu Hui said, "Nini, don't cry. Just wait a moment; I'll make a call to help you vent your frustration!"
"Hello? Who is this?"
"Hello, Chairman Huang! It's me, Zhu Hui, the president of Radiant Group!"
"Oh! It's President Zhu! What can I do for you?"
"Well, it's not really a big deal. Huang Dong, do you remember your distant relative with the surname Bai?"
"The Bai surname?" Huang Jiangliu thought for a moment; he didn't seem to have any distant relatives with that surname. Suddenly it dawned on him: "Oh! I remember now! It's Bai Zhuo! What happened to him?"

"Your girlfriend?" Huang Jiangliu asked curiously. "Is it that woman named Zhang Ni?"

"Haha, sure, Zhu Zong, you're too polite. I got the message; I have some matters to attend to, so I'll hang up now!"
"Alright, Huang Dong, take care!" Zhu Hui proudly hung up the phone and turned to Zhang Ni in his arms. "Nini baby, see? I called his family elder to teach him a lesson! Don't cry anymore; if you keep crying, my heart will break for you!"
Zhang Ni, who could navigate among various wealthy bosses, knew how to play her cards right. She pretended to be obedient, nodding as she leaned on Zhu Hui's shoulder and gave him a kiss on the cheek, which made Zhu Hui chuckle. "Once your brother's situation is sorted out this afternoon, come by my office!"
Zhang Ni pouted playfully and said, "You're annoying."
What Zhu Hui didn't expect was that his call with Huang Jiangliu would plunge the entire Radiant Group into an abyss.
In Huang Jiangliu's office, he told his secretary, "Liu, go downstairs and instruct the logistics team to follow up. Also inform the finance department; no matter how much it costs, I want to swallow Radiant Group whole."

After hanging up, Huang Jiangliu stood by the panoramic window, overlooking the entire Ningcheng. He took a deep breath and murmured to himself, "Mr. Bai, my life and my happiness are all thanks to you. I, Huang Jiangliu, value loyalty above all else. I will use your influence to build a power strong enough to rival Sun and Moon Group... even half of the empire!"
