Horror Chapter
The bus stop was located in a bustling area of H City, where several passengers were waiting for their rides.
Strangely, it seemed that no one noticed the eerie bus that had just arrived. They continued to stand there, engrossed in their phones or chatting with one another, as if they existed in two entirely different worlds.
Jiang Liu and his companions stepped off the bus, watching it disappear from sight.
“Jiang Liu, what should we do now?”
Wang Chao glanced around at the busy crowd, unsure of their next move, and turned to Jiang Liu for guidance.
Jiang Liu was equally troubled. He had no idea why the bus had brought them to this place, but since they were here, it might be good to explore a bit.
As the bus faded away, the surroundings returned to normal, and Jiang Liu and his friends became visible to the other people at the station.
The sudden appearance of the three did not attract much attention from the others waiting at the platform. Instead, it was Lin Mei Mei's striking Gothic outfit that caught everyone's eye. After all, it was quite rare to see a girl dressed in Gothic fashion on the streets, especially one as beautiful as her, radiating a distinct two-dimensional charm.
Lin Mei Mei noticed some lecherous gazes lingering on her and felt as if ants were crawling all over her body; it was extremely uncomfortable.
Watching the two still deep in discussion, she spoke up, “Let’s get out of here.”
With Lin Mei Mei taking the lead, Wang Chao immediately asked where she wanted to go.
Lin Mei Mei rubbed her empty stomach and pondered for a moment before saying, “Since Dream Sister isn’t here today, I’m hungry.”
As the only woman among the three, Lin Mei Mei received special treatment. The moment she mentioned she was hungry, both Jiang Liu and Wang Chao felt their stomachs growl in response. They quickly glanced around to see if there were any restaurants nearby.
It didn't take long for the trio to find a restaurant along the road. They walked in, casually ordered a few dishes, and settled down at a table.
At that moment, Wang Chao felt a strong urge to smoke. He reached for a cigarette, but Lin Mei Mei's sharp gaze stopped him. Reluctantly, he put the cigarette back into his pocket.
The wait for the food was excruciatingly dull. Wang Chao stared out at the bustling crowd outside and asked Jiang Liu, "Jiang Liu, didn’t you say there would be some hints after we got out of the car? Why haven’t I noticed anything special yet?"
"Don't rush it; just take your time. There will definitely be hints," Jiang Liu reassured him.
Wang Chao wanted to say more, but just then, their food arrived, and they focused on eating.
During the meal, Jiang Liu's phone suddenly rang. He pulled it out to see an unfamiliar number. His first instinct was to hang up, but then he seemed to remember something. He exchanged a glance with the other two and answered the call.
"Hello, is this Master Jiang Liu?" came a voice from the other end—an unfamiliar male voice.
Jiang Liu was taken aback when someone referred to him as "Master." He couldn't recall when he had acquired such a title.
However, he quickly regained his composure. Upon hearing that this stranger not only knew his phone number but also addressed him by name, he immediately suspected that this was the target he had been looking for.
"Yes, that's me. May I ask who you are?" he responded promptly.
Upon realizing that Jiang Liu was indeed the person he sought, the stranger's voice trembled with emotion, sounding as if he had grasped onto his last lifeline as he spoke excitedly into the phone.
"Master, help me, help me, Master."
"Hello, calm down. Can you tell me why you need my help?"
While eating, Lin Mei Mei and Wang Chao paused at the sound of "help" coming from Jiang Liu's phone, exchanging concerned glances as they wondered what was happening.
Jiang Liu shook his head, indicating he didn't know either, and continued to listen to the stranger on the line.
Suddenly, the stranger's voice was filled with fear as he stammered, "Master, it seems my wife and I have encountered... that kind of thing."
"That kind of thing?"
Jiang Liu furrowed his brow, unable to comprehend what the stranger meant by "that kind of thing." However, he quickly realized he needed to respond appropriately. He asked into the phone, "Where are you right now? Tell me your location; I'll bring my companions over immediately."
"I'm at Room 114 in Building Street. My wife and I are at home."
"Okay, we'll be there soon. Remember, don't run around until we arrive. Even if someone knocks on your door, do not respond. I'll call you when I get there, and then you can open the door."
"Alright, alright. Master, please hurry."
"Understood. I'm on my way now."
After hanging up the phone, Jiang Liu noticed Lin Mei Mei and Wang Chao staring at him. He explained, "The target has reached out to us. We need to go right away."
"Let's go, we need to head over right now. You know the address, right?" Wang Chao asked.
"I remember it; I actually know that place well," Jiang Liu replied.
Upon hearing that Jiang Liu was familiar with the location, Wang Chao hastily shoved a bite of food into his mouth and dashed out to pay the bill.
At this point, Jiang Liu had lost all desire to eat. He called out to Lin Mei Mei and they both sprinted towards their destination.
The address of the unfamiliar man was a dormitory apartment located in the center of H City, just a few hundred meters from where they had been eating.
The three of them, anxious and eager, decided not to take a taxi and ran straight there.
Some might wonder why Jiang Liu, who had only recently arrived in H City, knew where the unfamiliar man lived.
This was thanks to Jiang Liu's time working at Aunt Nianxia's house. The convenience store run by Nianxia's aunt was conveniently located not far from where the unfamiliar man lived, so as soon as Jiang Liu heard the address, he recognized it immediately.
A few hundred meters isn't too far, but it's not short either.
By the time they arrived at their destination, all three were panting heavily.
Wang Chao looked up at the towering building with dozens of floors and gasped, "Is this really the place?"
"That's right; our target should be upstairs," Jiang Liu confirmed.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's hurry up," Wang Chao said as he led the charge into the building.
On the first floor of the building sat a Security Guard, an elderly man. Since half of the building was occupied by people from out of town, he didn't pay much attention to the arrival of Jiang Liu and his companions.
However, as the three of them walked into the stairwell, the old man shook his head and muttered to himself, "What is it with young people these days and their strange outfits?"
Inside the elevator, watching the floor numbers change, Lin Mei Mei turned to Jiang Liu and asked, "What did he say to you on the phone?"
"I didn't ask in detail, but he told me that he and his wife encountered something unusual."
"Something unusual? A ghost?" Wang Chao chimed in from the side.
Just as Wang Chao finished speaking, the bright lights in the elevator suddenly went out.
Is a ghost coming?!
