Horror Chapter
As the boy's memories abruptly ceased, the world began to crumble around him.
Before long, the world transformed into scattered fragments, falling into the dark abyss beneath their feet. At that moment, the two stood eerily in the void of darkness.
After a while, Jiang Liu looked at the other Jiang Liu standing opposite him and asked, "What happened afterward?"
The other Jiang Liu shook his head and replied, "The outcome no longer matters."
"Why?"
Jiang Liu was asking why the outcome was unimportant. At that moment, he realized that his involvement in the supernatural events was not coincidental; it had been destined from the very beginning.
What he could not accept was the reason behind his parents' involvement in these supernatural occurrences.
Two heads shrouded in black mist appeared before him. Though he could not see their faces clearly, Jiang Liu was certain they were his parents.
After more than a decade, he had long forgotten what they looked like and the sound of their voices. The only thing stirring within him was the deep-rooted bloodline that connected them. Upon witnessing the tragic scene of his parents, he did not feel sadness; yet his body reacted involuntarily, tears filling his eyes.
"For me, the outcome no longer matters. What matters is that after enduring for so many years, I finally have the chance to eliminate you and become the sole host of this body!"
Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu laughed maniacally in the void, consumed by madness.
"You cannot kill me; we are one. If you die, I die. If I die, you die."
Jiang Liu spoke calmly, as if stating a mere fact.
"Is that really what you think?" Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu looked at Jiang Liu with pity. "It seems you still don't understand the greatness of supernatural events."
With a gentle wave of his hand, five heads suddenly appeared behind Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu, quietly floating in the air, each one bearing the same face.
Jiang Liu, who had maintained a calm demeanor, finally showed a change in expression upon seeing the faces. He stared at the heads behind Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu, which looked exactly like him, and fell silent.
"Do you know? If it weren't for them, I would have killed you, this useless Master Persona, long ago. Your weakness, your avoidance, everything about you makes me want to vomit!
But I can't kill you, just like you can't kill me. If you die, I die; if I die, you live.
But why? Why should your death mean I have to accompany you in death?
Because of this—do you know how many years I've endured?
Thirteen whole years!
Every year, every moment, whenever I see your smile, I feel an impulse to strangle you.
Why must I bear all the painful memories? Why must I be tormented by painful recollections while you greedily enjoy all the beauty of reality?"
Blade-Wielding Jiang Liu screamed hoarsely at Master Personality Jiang Liu.
Watching the other Jiang Liu descend into madness, Master Personality Jiang Liu softly said, "I'm sorry."
"Let me finish my speech! Don't interrupt me!"
Angered by the interruption, Sub-Personality Jiang Liu hurled the dagger in his hand towards Master Persona.
A bright light flashed quickly before my eyes, followed by a sharp pain in my ear as a stream of hot liquid flowed down.
Seeing that the Master Persona was silent, the Sub-Personality satisfiedly withdrew their hand and continued with their speech.
"I thought I would spend my life in suffering, but finally, fate has brought you into this supernatural event. It is precisely because of the power of this event that I am meeting you formally for the first time."
At this point, the Sub-Personality looked at the Master Persona and smiled. "Just a reminder, this is our second meeting!"
Upon hearing the Sub-Personality's hint, Master Personality Jiang Liu finally recalled their first encounter with the Sub-Personality. The feeling of familiarity was not due to appearance but rather as if they had met somewhere before.
Master Personality Jiang Liu strained to remember where they had met, and gradually a figure appeared in their mind. Looking at the Sub-Personality before them, they exclaimed in surprise, "You are that man in black!"
"Finally remembered? I thought you had forgotten our first meeting."
Seeing that Master Persona had finally recalled, the Sub-Personality was pleased. "Bingo! You got it right, but too bad there’s no reward."
"So it wasn't just a dream."
"A dream? Are you trying to make me laugh?" The Sub-Personality chuckled. "I already gave you a warning during our first meeting because I knew we would meet again soon. I just didn’t expect it to happen so quickly."
"Why give me a warning? Wouldn't it have been easier for you to succeed without any defenses?"
"Because I wanted to see your desperate expression after you made all those preparations only to have them crushed by me." The Sub-Personality glanced at the five floating heads behind them. "In fact, during that first meeting, I could hardly contain my impulse to kill you, but I was stopped by other personalities who made you wake up early."
"So, you held a grudge and took this opportunity to kill all the other personalities," Jiang Liu deduced.
"Exactly! Do you know how much I enjoyed seeing their faces filled with despair as I killed them? They were all like idiots, thinking we were one entity with no differences."
"Haha, that cracked me up. So I chopped them up piece by piece, letting them see their own flesh being sliced away until they finally realized that we were no longer the same person!"
"You've gone mad."
"No, no, no, I'm not mad. If I didn't do this, I would truly go insane." The Sub-Personality looked at its own body. "The moment I gained complete control over my own body, I vowed never to return to that damned darkness. I will kill anyone who stands in my way!"
"Then why haven't you killed me yet?" the Master Persona asked.
"Don't rush me. I will kill you, and I will do it slowly, venting all the pain I've endured over the years." The Sub-Personality looked at the Master Persona cruelly. "After all, this is the final place. Once I kill you, this supernatural incident will come to an end, and then I can enjoy everything in the real world. You are the first step in my rebirth, and I want to have a little more conversation with you, Master Persona."
"I'm sorry, but even if you are my Sub-Personality, I don't want to be killed by you."
The Master Persona took a defensive stance. Upon seeing this, the Sub-Personality laughed. "There's plenty of time; we can take it slow. Don't you want to know why you ended up here after entering the Mortuary?"
"I don't want to," the Master Persona replied decisively.
Not receiving the expected answer, the Sub-Personality appeared annoyed. Suddenly, it was right in front of the Master Persona, its right hand gripping the Master Persona's neck tightly as it said coldly, "But I want to tell you!"
The Master Persona was powerless in the grip of the Sub-Personality, struggling like a prey at the mercy of its hunter.
