Returning to the first floor, Jiang Liu couldn't help but feel a wave of emotion wash over him as he took in the familiar scene. 0

Just before the incident occurred, the four of them had set out from here. Along the way, they encountered Xu Hai and his two companions, but in the end, only three of them returned. No one knew what awaited those three next. 0

"Where is the entrance to the Mortuary?" 0

Jiang Liu scanned the first floor but couldn't find where Wang Ke had mentioned the Mortuary was located. 0

"It's not here; it's on the next level down," Wang Ke said, pointing to the floor beneath them. 0

Jiang Liu set down Sun Ting and looked at the white marble floor, then glanced at the elevator nearby. "Don't tell me we have to take the elevator to get to the next level?" 0

"What's wrong? Did you find another way?" 0

"No, but I have a strong aversion to elevators." 0

"I thought you were worried about ghosts attacking us in there." 0

"Isn't that a valid concern?" Jiang Liu retorted. 0

"That's not good. Nothing happened last time, but this time everything is different. I don't know if something unexpected will occur." 0

"Should we go in now?" Jiang Liu asked. 0

"Go." 0

Wang Ke walked towards the elevator, while Jiang Liu picked up Sun Ting and followed behind. 0

The elevator doors slowly opened in front of them. Once inside, Jiang Liu noticed there was only a button for the basement level. Confused, he asked Wang Ke, "Does this elevator only go down?" 0

"Yes," Wang Ke nodded in response. 0

"What if we had taken the elevator up earlier?" Jiang Liu questioned, voicing his doubt. 0

"It wouldn't open," Wang Ke explained. "The elevator can only be used when we return to the first floor. Even if we force the doors open, it won't activate." 0

After hearing Wang Ke's explanation, Jiang Liu fell silent. 0

Once inside the elevator, Wang Ke pressed the button for the basement level, and the indicator gradually changed from one to negative one. 0

As Jiang Liu looked at the reflection of the three of them on the elevator walls, he felt as if he were staring at his own image in a mirror. The malice reflected in his eyes made him momentarily lose focus. 0

After about ten seconds, the elevator came to a stop, and the sensation of weightlessness disappeared. 0

The elevator doors slowly opened again. 0

Looking into the darkness seeping through the gap of the doors, Wang Ke asked, "Are you sure you don't want to leave Sun Ting behind? You should know that what we encounter next could be very dangerous; bringing her along will only hold you back." 0

Gazing into the deep darkness outside the elevator doors, Jiang Liu shook his head and said, "This is all I can do." 0

Seeing Jiang Liu's resolute attitude, Wang Ke stopped trying to persuade him. 0

As the elevator doors fully opened, a chill that penetrated to the depths of their souls rushed toward them. Accompanying the cold breeze was a faint wailing sound, reminiscent of the anguished cries of sinners from the depths of hell. 0

At that moment, Jiang Liu even had the illusion that they had arrived in the depths of hell. 0

Once the elevator doors opened, the two slowly stepped out, their crisp footsteps echoing in the dim corridor, while the overhead lights flickered intermittently. 0

Jiang Liu glanced back at the elevator they had exited, noticing that the doors were still opening and closing repeatedly, as if someone inside was preventing them from shutting. 0

With the flickering lights, Jiang Liu vaguely saw what appeared to be an iron door standing before them in the darkness not far away. 0

When they approached, a dilapidated iron door came into view. 0

The door seemed to have existed for a long time, with deep brown rust covering its surface. Several dried blood handprints were visible on it. 0

Wang Ke stood about a meter away from the iron door, looking at it with unease. "This is Mortuary. Once we go in, there’s no turning back." 0

Jiang Liu stared at the eerie iron door, feeling a growing sense of dread within him. 0

His instincts screamed for him to stay away from this place, but reason suppressed that impulse. He knew he had no choice now; perhaps that choice had vanished when he first encountered supernatural events. 0

"Have you made up your mind? If so, we’re going in," Wang Ke said. 0

"Let’s go." 0

The iron door slowly creaked open, a sharp and piercing "screech" echoing down the corridor. 0

Jiang Liu couldn't tell if it was his own illusion, but at the moment Wang Ke pushed the door open, he felt a strong chill emanating from the darkness beyond the door, despite there being no breeze. 0

Wang Ke unusually took the lead and stepped inside, with Jiang Liu following closely behind, carrying Sun Ting on his back. 0

The familiar darkness quickly engulfed them, and at that moment, the iron door began to close slowly. 0

"Where is this?" 0

As Jiang Liu entered the Mortuary and opened his eyes, he found himself standing in front of a door. The reddish-brown iron door felt strangely familiar. 0

Sun Ting was nowhere to be seen on his back. Turning to look around, a fragment of a memory hidden deep in his mind surfaced. 0

"Is this home?" 0

The familiar house number, the recognizable iron door, even the two black garbage bags piled up in front of it seemed so familiar. 0

The door was not locked; with a gentle twist, it swung open. 0

White lace curtains, a wooden dining table, three pairs of slippers quietly stacked by the door—everything matched his memories of home. 0

At that moment, a trickle of blood flowed out from an unseen corner of his vision. As the blood appeared, the world around Jiang Liu was shrouded in bright red. 0

Gazing at the glaring bloodstains, Jiang Liu felt as if his body was moving uncontrollably, inching further into the room. 0

Blood flowed from a dark bedroom, yet the darkness seemed to pose no barrier to Jiang Liu's gaze. He could see a boy in the shadowy room, wielding a bloodied fruit knife, repeatedly stabbing two adults lying on the bed. 0

One stab after another. 0

The entire world felt like a silent film, and he was merely a spectator, powerless to intervene as everything unfolded before him. 0

Gradually, the boy in the bedroom seemed to grow weary of his actions. He slowly descended from the bed and noticed Jiang Liu standing outside, watching him with a grotesque smile in the darkness. 0

"You finally came." 0

The fruit knife in the boy's hand dripped with hot blood as he fixed his gaze on Jiang Liu, stepping closer with each passing moment. 0

"Who are you?" Jiang Liu asked, dazed. 0

"Who am I?" 0

As the boy approached Jiang Liu, he began to grow taller at an alarming rate, visibly increasing in height with each step. 0

"Aren't I just you?" 0

With that voice echoing in the air, the boy, now towering like an adult, finally stepped out of the room. A face that was hauntingly familiar emerged under the light. 0
