Horror Chapter
Lin Dahai and Xu Meng were hidden in a secluded corner, watching Wang Ke and Jiang Liu conversing in the distance. After a while, Lin Dahai turned to Xu Meng and asked, "Did I play my part convincingly at first?"
Without turning her head, Xu Meng replied, "Not at all. Your performance was overly exaggerated."
Not receiving the praise he expected, Lin Dahai awkwardly shifted the topic. "Do you really think the chef will come out at this time?"
"He should. Wang Ke mentioned that the sign of the chef's activity is when there’s no food on the table. When we see an empty table, it’s best to find a secluded spot to hide," Xu Meng explained, keeping her gaze fixed on the two in the distance.
"Don’t blame me for overthinking, but I still can’t believe Wang Ke would heartlessly make himself a sacrifice for the fourth layer," Lin Dahai said, his expression uneasy. "Most people wouldn’t be so ruthless."
"Most people?" Xu Meng turned to look at Lin Dahai with a cold smile. "That guy is a lunatic. Just look at how many times he has killed himself; he clearly doesn’t care whether Wang Ke is him or not. I suspect that in his eyes, he simply enjoys the thrill of killing himself."
After hearing this, Lin Dahai felt Xu Meng had a point. He glanced back at the two and added, "That guy named Jiang Liu shouldn’t be underestimated either. He’s almost ruined our plans several times before."
"I know that. Jiang Liu is very intelligent; Wang Ke has tried to kill him multiple times without success. But unfortunately, this situation is clearly different. When we were on the fifth floor, I almost thought I wouldn’t make it back," Xu Meng said, recalling her fear.
"Me too. I almost got discovered by that guy Wang Ke," Lin Dahai said, wiping nonexistent sweat from his forehead. "I never expected things on the fifth floor would be so bizarre. No wonder Wang Ke warned us not to wander into the fifth floor casually."
Hearing this, Xu Meng shot Lin Dahai a glare. "If you hadn’t revealed our situation, we wouldn’t be in such danger now. Next time, pay attention to your actions and don’t draw too much attention."
Lin Dahai quickly nodded and then pondered for a moment before saying, "I just suddenly thought of something."
"What’s the problem?"
"Look at the number of dolls on the fifth floor. You can imagine how many people must have died in there, but there are only seven of us participating this time. How many times do we have to die to create that kind of army of dolls?"
"What are you thinking about?" Xu Meng felt a chill run down his back at Lin Dahai's words and replied with annoyance.
"Nothing, I was just wondering if any of our corpses are among that army of dolls."
"Shut up! If you don’t believe me, I’ll tear your mouth apart!" Xu Meng's expression suddenly turned extremely ferocious, and his fierce gaze made Lin Dahai's heart race with fear.
"Alright, alright, I won’t say anything. Let’s just keep watching." Lin Dahai was intimidated by Xu Meng's savage expression and dared not speak further, focusing his attention on the other four who were still searching for clues in the hall.
However, after waiting for a long time, the terrifying scene he had imagined did not occur. Lin Dahai began to doubt whether Wang Ke was right and glanced at the place where he and Xu Meng were standing.
Indeed, it was Wang Ke's location.
Just as confusion filled his mind, he suddenly felt something dripping onto his left ear from the Flower Panel above. He looked up in curiosity to see what was happening.
What met his eyes was an enormous mouth, with dozens of unevenly shaped inverted triangle teeth exposed to the air. Occasionally, a few drops of foul-smelling saliva dripped down from between the teeth.
At that moment, Lin Dahai realized what had just dripped onto his ear. He wanted to scream in terror but suddenly felt a chill at his neck. Immediately afterward, the surroundings began to swirl around him. When he landed, he saw a headless corpse where he had been standing, blood gushing out from its neck.
Behind them stood a monster with an enormous head, holding a gigantic meat cleaver. In that dim light, Lin Dahai saw that terrifying head turn toward him and smile eerily.
Xu Meng had been watching the conversation between Wang Ke and Jiang Liu. Although she was puzzled as to why the chef Wang Ke mentioned had not yet appeared, her trust in Wang Ke made her choose to patiently wait in place.
Hearing a heavy thud behind her, Xu Meng felt a bit annoyed, thinking that Lin Dahai was causing another ruckus. Just as she turned to tell him to be quiet, she saw a headless corpse crouching behind her, blood spraying from its neck and splattering all over her.
A slender figure with an enormous head stood behind the headless body, wearing an extremely eerie smile as it looked at Xu Meng.
Before she could comprehend what was happening, the monster with the giant head suddenly opened its foul, bloody maw and lunged at her.
Her vision darkened once more, but this time it was a darkness that would last forever.
In that moment of death, Xu Meng could not understand why the chef had appeared behind them.
