Horror Chapter
As the terrifying sounds faded away, the thin man furrowed his brow. "Escape from the hospital? No time limit?"
The only woman among the four spoke up. "No time limit? That rule sounds strange. If it were just a simple escape mission, shouldn't there be a requirement to escape within a limited time?"
"I don't know, but since there's no time restriction, it suggests that this event thinks it's going to be very difficult for us to escape. Or if we had a time limit, our outcome might be fatal."
"Forget it for now; let's introduce ourselves first." The thin man turned to Jiang Liu. "I'm Wang Ke, this is Lin Dahai, and this beautiful lady is Xu Meng. We three met during previous supernatural incidents, and I didn't expect us to gather together for this Interdimensional Supernatural Incident."
"Nice to meet you all, I'm Jiang Liu."
"Since we're all acquainted now, by the way, have you searched your room?" Wang Ke asked.
"Yes, but I didn't find any clues. The only thing I found was a lot of identical clothes in the wardrobe." Jiang Liu pointed at the black outfit he was wearing.
"A lot of identical clothes?" Wang Ke glanced into Jiang Liu's room. "Would you mind if we went in to search more thoroughly?"
"Of course not."
Jiang Liu stepped aside to let them in. The three didn't hesitate; given the current situation, they wouldn't overlook any potential hiding places. Jiang Liu understood that since these three knew each other, he was in a vulnerable position and it wasn't wise to create conflict with them at this moment.
After searching the room again, the three indeed found no clues. The only suspicious item was the wardrobe that seemed out of place in the entire room, but aside from clothes, there was nothing else inside.
Wang Ke looked at Jiang Liu with some disappointment and asked, "Brother, did you notice anything strange when you woke up?"
Jiang Liu almost reached for his phone in his pocket but halfway through, he changed direction and pinched the bridge of his nose, pretending to think. "I didn't notice anything unusual. After I woke up, I searched the room but found no clues. Eventually, I discovered the clothes in the wardrobe, took one out to wear, and then I heard your footsteps, so I hid in the wardrobe."
Wang Ke stared at Jiang Liu for a few seconds before suddenly smiling. "Well, since that's the case, let's look for clues elsewhere."
Seeing that Wang Ke hadn't picked up on anything, Jiang Liu secretly sighed in relief.
He didn't dare to tell the three of them that he had received a call from himself. After all, it was too bizarre, and he couldn't determine if it was just him who experienced such a thing. If the other three had also received calls from themselves, then Wang Ke's earlier smile would be quite intriguing.
Earlier, Jiang Liu had been focused on the three of them and hadn't looked outside the door. It wasn't until they all stepped out of the room that he realized they were in a vast and empty hall.
The chaotic footsteps of the four echoed continuously in the spacious hall, and the silence kept Jiang Liu's nerves on edge.
What puzzled him was that the other three didn't search the hall. Although it was empty and easily visible at a glance, Jiang Liu felt this behavior was unlikely for these three.
Wang Ke, who had been staring at Jiang Liu, seemed to see through his thoughts and explained, "We searched the entire hall before we found you. Now we need to go up a level."
"Why go up? Isn't it enough for us to escape the hospital? We should be looking for an exit on this floor since we are on the first floor of the hospital. Logically speaking, we should search for an exit here instead of going up," Jiang Liu expressed his confusion.
"You make a good point," Wang Ke praised Jiang Liu before continuing, "But you're thinking within common logic. Since we're involved in a supernatural event, nothing can be considered normal. In real life, hospital exits are indeed on the first floor, but this situation tells us that we just need to escape from the hospital. So if we reach the top floor, does that count as leaving the hospital?"
Seeing Jiang Liu bow his head in thought, Wang Ke continued, "And about that last part—time is unlimited. Have you considered why there’s no time limit if the exit is on the first floor? Wouldn't setting a time limit create more pressure for us?"
Lin Dahai observed Jiang Liu's contemplative expression and assumed that Jiang Liu did not understand Wang Ke's point. He explained, "Since the event hasn't imposed a time limit on us, it means we will need a considerable amount of time to find the exit. Given the size of this floor, it shouldn't take too long. Therefore, there is only one possibility left: the exit is located in the upper floors."
Jiang Liu glanced at Lin Dahai and feigned realization. "Now I understand what you mean. It's just that I believe supernatural events won't allow us to find the exit safely. I'm worried that we might encounter danger when we do find it."
"Danger is definitely a factor," Wang Ke said, looking at the staircase leading to the second floor. "However, in supernatural events, danger often arises alongside clues related to the event."
At that moment, Xu Meng turned to Wang Ke. "Did you discover something?"
Wang Ke nodded. "I suspect that this incident may involve more than just the four of us; there might be others participating in this event as well."
Lin Dahai asked, "How did you come to that conclusion?"
Jiang Liu noticed that both Lin Dahai and the girl named Xu Meng showed no doubt about Wang Ke's words. The fact that Lin Dahai did not question Wang Ke about why he thought so but instead asked how he came to that conclusion indicated that among the three of them, Wang Ke was clearly the center of trust for the other two.
