Horror Chapter
The expression on the Smiling Man's face turned somewhat awkward as he grinned, "I think I know who you are."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Liu was not surprised. He had anticipated that the Smiling Man would know something when he recounted Lin Feng's experiences.
What surprised him was that the Smiling Man knew who that girl was. After all, she was the one who had caused Lin Feng's memory to go blank, and they were seriously suspicious of her.
Wang Chao was much more agitated than Jiang Liu. After hearing the Smiling Man's words, he nearly rushed forward to question him.
The Smiling Man did not keep them in suspense. He sighed and continued, "If the girl you mentioned is indeed a ghost, I'm afraid you've guessed wrong because that girl died in the dormitory."
"Died?" Jiang Liu and Wang Chao exchanged incredulous looks.
"Yes, she died. And there's something else. The supernatural events were also revealed to us by her," the Smiling Man said with a hint of sadness in his voice. "When we arrived at the dormitory, we found that girl in a hallway. We wanted to ask her what had happened since she was the first person we saw after you left. But as soon as she saw us, she went crazy and started babbling a lot of things we couldn't understand at the time."
"How did she die?" Jiang Liu asked, clearly concerned about this detail.
"It's strange. When she finished talking about the supernatural events, she suddenly pointed at one of the girls among us and declared that she was a ghost. That girl had a bad temper; upon hearing someone call her a ghost, she immediately charged at her, wanting to slap her.
We were just watching the spectacle when that girl’s boyfriend stepped in to separate them. However, in trying to pull them apart, he accidentally pushed the already frantic girl down the stairs. By the time we rushed downstairs to help, we found her lifeless body impaled by a bamboo pole left in the hallway."
Wang Chao asked unwillingly, "Are you sure she's really dead?"
The Smiling Man pondered for a moment, seemingly recalling the scene from that day. After a long pause, he nodded affirmatively.
"Blood was everywhere, gushing like a spring, and we couldn't stop it. If that didn't kill her, then she must not be human."
"Jiang Liu, were our previous speculations correct?" Wang Chao asked, tugging at his hair in frustration. "We suspected Teacher Mei, but she wasn't here. Then we suspected that girl, and now she's dead. Damn it, isn't killing the ghost supposed to resolve the incident? Why is it still ongoing?"
Jiang Liu was also puzzled, pinching the bridge of his nose. "How could it be wrong? All the clues pointed to that girl, but if it really was her, the incident should have ended long ago."
The Smiling Man comforted them both. "Since that girl is already dead, it means all your previous speculations were incorrect. Let's start over and reassess everything."
Jiang Liu stopped pinching his nose and looked at the Smiling Man. "Do you know that girl's name?"
"I do. Her name is Xu Ya, a girl who seemed very quiet."
"Xu Ya?" Jiang Liu turned to Wang Chao. "Have you heard this name before?"
Wang Chao shook his head. "No, I don't recall anyone by that name. Could you be mistaken?"
The Smiling Man replied confidently, "No, I have a strong impression of her."
Just as Jiang Liu was about to ask more questions, darkness descended once again, engulfing their vision. However, this time the darkness faded quickly, and soon the lights came back on.
When the lights turned on, everyone instinctively checked their surroundings to see if anyone was missing. Fortunately, all four of them were still there.
Before they could relax, a wave of gasps erupted from the crowd behind them.
“Mahan, Zou Gong is missing!”
With that scream, chaos erupted among the crowd. People scattered in all directions, casting suspicious glances at one another. The trust that had just been established crumbled with the disappearance of the two.
Jiang Liu knew that he couldn't allow the crowd to continue doubting each other; otherwise, the situation would worsen. Just as he was about to speak, a boy from the crowd interrupted him.
The boy brandished a dagger and shouted at the four of them, “It’s you! It must be you! I’m going to kill you!”
He charged towards them, and as he approached, Wang Chao suddenly leaped forward and grabbed the boy's wrist. He twisted it in an attempt to subdue him, but didn’t realize that they were just a short distance from a wall.
The boy's head slammed against the wall with a loud thud, and he immediately passed out. Wang Chao awkwardly withdrew his hand and muttered, “I didn’t mean to.”
Wang Chao's actions ignited the anger of others. Seeing him strike, the other boys lost their rationality and immediately targeted the four of them as threats, rushing forward without hesitation.
Jiang Liu was taken aback by this scene; he didn’t possess Wang Chao’s impressive skills. As he watched Wang Chao handle the situation, doubts crept into his mind. He recalled their return to the classroom and their encounter with Blood Man; it seemed like Wang Chao had been hiding his true abilities then.
Smiling Man and Lin Feng were intimidated by the charging group and huddled behind Wang Chao. Meanwhile, Wang Chao wore an excited expression; his pent-up anger was finally about to be released.
However, what no one expected was that the darkness that had just receded would once again descend upon them at this moment.
