The atmosphere suddenly became tense.
Jiang Liu could not believe such a ruthless statement had come from Wang Chao. In his mind, Wang Chao was someone who cherished life, both his own and that of others. Yet, this person who loved life could utter words that stripped others of it.
At that moment, he even doubted whether the Wang Chao before him was the real one.
Wang Chao looked at Jiang Liu's silent expression and began to explain, "We've been together for over a week now, and I understand your thoughts. You don't want anyone to die innocently, and I feel the same way. But I hope you can understand how dangerous our situation is right now. We need to make a choice quickly. Since you can't be sure if your guess is correct, let me verify it."
Just as Jiang Liu was about to say something, Lin Feng beside them groaned. Their attention shifted from the previous topic to Lin Feng, and the tense atmosphere dissipated.
"You’re awake! How do you feel?" Jiang Liu asked with concern.
"My head is still a bit dizzy, but it's much better," Lin Feng replied, patting his head. "What were you two talking about? I didn't catch it."
"Nothing much, just discussing how to get out of here."
Jiang Liu didn't want Lin Feng to know what he had discussed with Wang Chao earlier, so he changed the subject. "Are you feeling better now? Can you stand up by yourself?"
"Much better. I should be able to stand."
With that, Lin Feng leaned against the wall and slowly stood up. Although it was a bit difficult, he was generally okay.
Seeing Lin Feng able to stand on his own relieved Jiang Liu.
Wang Chao silently observed the two of them. The murderous intent that had surfaced during his conversation with Jiang Liu was well concealed now. After a moment of thought, he spoke up, "Since Lin Feng can move now, let's think about how to leave this place."
"Why do we need to leave?"
Jiang Liu turned to look at Wang Chao, puzzled.
Seeing the confused expression on Jiang Liu's face, Wang Chao was momentarily taken aback. He couldn't understand what Jiang Liu meant by that.
Why leave? Shouldn't we hurry up and get out of this cursed place?
Wang Chao stood there with his mouth agape, trying to think of something but not knowing how to respond, which made him look quite ridiculous.
After a few seconds of staring blankly at Wang Chao, Jiang Liu finally realized what was going on. He slapped his forehead and explained, "What I mean is, we do need to go out, but not right now."
"Not right now?" Wang Chao furrowed his brows, unsure of what Jiang Liu was getting at.
He brushed off nonexistent dust from his backside and took a few steps closer to Wang Chao, his gaze piercing through Wang Chao's figure into the darkness behind him.
"Yes, not right now," Jiang Liu said as he returned his gaze to Wang Chao's eyes. "Even if we escape now, this supernatural incident won't be over."
"But staying here is dangerous; you know what just happened. Although that ghost impersonating us didn't pose a life-threatening danger, can you guarantee it won't next time?"
"I can't, but we can't leave here."
"Reason."
Wang Chao stopped trying to persuade Jiang Liu to heed his advice and leave quickly. However, he needed to understand why Jiang Liu insisted on staying.
Jiang Liu glanced back at Lin Feng, who was also waiting for an answer. After pondering for a few seconds, he said, "We overlooked many phenomena earlier, and now that I think about it, they all share a commonality."
Wang Chao thoughtfully looked at Lin Feng before asking, "What phenomena are you referring to?"
Jiang Liu understood the implication behind Wang Chao's words and shook his head. "It was before we entered the dormitory."
"Before the dormitory?" Wang Chao frowned. "Are you referring to the bodies hanging on the dorm building?"
"There's more than just that." Habitually pinching his nostrils, Jiang Liu continued, "It includes the other students who suddenly disappeared from Classroom 000, the Blood Man we encountered, and why Lin Feng ended up in the dormitory."
"Wait a minute, didn't Lin Feng run to the dorm because he was scared?" Wang Chao interrupted.
Jiang Liu smiled slightly. "I thought so too at first, but later during my conversation with Lin Feng, I realized things weren't as simple as I thought."
"Is there another reason?" Wang Chao's frown deepened as he turned his gaze to Lin Feng behind Jiang Liu and asked bluntly, "How did you get to the dorm? Do you remember?"
Lin Feng appeared a bit flustered at Wang Chao's sudden question.
"I... I don't remember. I only know that when I woke up, I was already in the dormitory. Later, I saw many dead bodies in the hallway, and I got scared and ran into my room and locked the door."
After hearing Lin Feng's response, Wang Chao seemed to realize something, his pupils visibly constricting. He looked at Jiang Liu and said, "I understand what you mean now. It seems we really can't leave here."
Having listened to their conversation, Lin Feng panicked when he saw that Wang Chao also agreed with Jiang Liu's suggestion not to leave this terrifying place. "What are you two talking about? I don't understand! And why can't we leave all of a sudden?"
Wang Chao glanced at Lin Feng with amusement and turned to Jiang Liu. "Are you still you?"
"I suppose I'm still me; after all, I'm in the same dorm as him."
Seeing Jiang Liu take responsibility for explaining things, Wang Chao fell silent, leaning against the pale wall as he watched Jiang Liu approach Lin Feng. He wanted to know how Jiang Liu would explain everything to Lin Feng.
Would he lay everything bare? Or would he continue to deceive him?
Looking into those eyes filled with fear, Jiang Liu sighed inwardly.
At that moment, a battle raged within him. Based on past experiences, if he revealed the entire truth about the supernatural events to Lin Feng, then after this incident concluded, Lin Feng would undoubtedly become one of them, forced to live in this hellish existence.
However, seeing the flicker of wariness deep in Lin Feng's gaze, Jiang Liu believed that if he chose not to disclose everything now, Lin Feng would likely distance himself from them. After all, he might not trust anyone at this point. The outcome of leaving was all too predictable.
In the end, Jiang Liu's heart softened. He decided to let Lin Feng make his own choice.
"I am currently hesitating whether or not to be honest with you, so I think it's best for you to choose."
As he finished speaking, Jiang Liu noticed a hint of astonishment in Lin Feng's eyes, as if he hadn't expected Jiang Liu to say such a thing.
Watching Jiang Liu's serious expression, Lin Feng remained silent for a few seconds before asking, "What are the choices?"
"The first option is that I will tell you everything. The consequence is that if you survive this incident, you will forever be like us," Jiang Liu said with a very serious expression.
"And the other option?"
"Don't ask anything. Either follow our instructions completely or we part ways here. If you're lucky enough to survive this incident, you can continue living a mundane life in this world."
After presenting the two choices, Jiang Liu fell silent and waited quietly for Lin Feng's decision. Behind him, Wang Chao watched the scene with a smile, his expression inscrutable as he pondered something unknown.
