Horror Chapter
Looking at the strangely dead body in front of him, Jiang Liu felt a surge of terror wash over him, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.
To verify the possibility that had emerged in his mind, Jiang Liu approached several other intact corpses. He discovered that these bodies had all died from fatal wounds; some had their faces beaten beyond recognition, while others had their throats slashed. All of them appeared to have met violent ends.
"Stop looking. It seems things are unfolding in the direction we feared," Wang Chao's voice came from behind him.
Jiang Liu turned to see Wang Chao's pale face staring at him. From Wang Chao's expression, Jiang Liu understood that they were thinking along the same lines. Gritting his teeth, he asked, "How could this happen?"
Wang Chao shook his head. "I don't know, but something terrifying must have happened in the classroom while we were away. Otherwise, we wouldn't be facing this scene now."
Gazing at the bloody classroom, Jiang Liu suddenly said, "We need to leave immediately. There should be others alive in the class; we need to find them to understand what really happened here."
In Wang Chao's view, the best course of action for both of them was to escape the school. However, he quickly realized why Jiang Liu wanted to locate the others. The incident with Jia Ren made everything clear. As long as they couldn't completely rid themselves of the curse in Classroom 000, no matter where they ran, they would ultimately be found by whatever haunted them. By then, things could become even worse.
Reluctantly, Wang Chao nodded in agreement. Just as they were about to leave the classroom, they suddenly heard Lin Feng outside the door screaming in horror.
Upon hearing Lin Feng's scream, the two rushed toward the door. As they burst out of the classroom, they found Lin Feng staring in terror down the hallway as if he had witnessed something horrifying.
Turning to look, they saw a blood-soaked figure standing at the end of the corridor. One hand held a pair of scissors that dripped blood onto the floor, while the other hand clutched a dark circular object. Due to its color, they couldn't immediately discern what it was.
The Blood Man at the end of the hallway went into a frenzy upon seeing the three of them, screaming wildly as he hurled the dark object toward them. It rolled to a stop right in front of Lin Feng, and it was only then that Jiang Liu could see what that dark circular object was.
It was a human head!
The neck beneath it appeared to have been severed with a sharp instrument, showing numerous jagged cuts. Some chunks of flesh were still attached to the neck, and the most horrifying part was the wounds on the face of the head, which looked like it had been slashed multiple times, blood and flesh a gruesome mess. Due to the density of the wounds, Jiang Liu couldn't discern whose head it was, but judging by the short hair, it seemed to belong to a male.
The eyes of the severed head were missing, revealing a pair of bloody eye sockets. For some reason, Jiang Liu felt as if he could sense a gaze filled with jealousy directed at him from those gory eye sockets.
Before he could examine it further, he heard hurried footsteps approaching rapidly. Looking up, he saw the Blood Man charging toward them, scissors wildly waving in his hand, occasionally glinting with blinding white light.
Wang Chao reacted first, cursing loudly, "Damn it, run!"
Jiang Liu also snapped back to reality and turned to flee down the corridor. However, after just a few steps, he noticed Lin Feng still sitting on the ground, staring blankly at the approaching Blood Man. Gritting his teeth, he stopped and ran back to Lin Feng, delivering a hard slap across his face.
The force of that slap was tremendous; blood trickled from Lin Feng's mouth. Thankfully, it jolted him awake. Without waiting for Jiang Liu to say anything, Lin Feng screamed and scrambled to his feet, frantically running backward until he quickly caught up with Wang Chao.
At that moment, Jiang Liu realized how fast the Blood Man was moving. In just a few seconds, he had covered several dozen meters of corridor and was now only a few meters away from Jiang Liu—just two or three more steps and he would catch up.
With determination, Jiang Liu glanced at the head before him and did something he had never considered before. He kicked the gruesome head with all his might, treating it like a soccer ball aimed at the Blood Man.
The Blood Man was too quick and too close for him to react in time; he was struck directly in the head by the severed head.
There was a dull thud as the Blood Man let out a wretched scream and collapsed to the ground, rolling in pain. Seeing him writhing in agony made Jiang Liu pause; that sound seemed oddly familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere before.
Just as he was about to call out to Wang Chao to help subdue the Blood Man, he heard Wang Chao's frantic voice behind him: "You idiot! Why are you running so fast?!"
Turning back, he saw Lin Feng, who had been provoked, directly knock over Wang Chao and run downstairs like a madman. Wang Chao seemed to be in quite a bit of pain, likely having hit his head against the wall, as he crouched on the ground holding his head and cursing loudly.
At that moment, a roar echoed in Jiang Liu's ears, followed by a rush of wind towards him. In an instant, Jiang Liu caught a whiff of a pungent metallic scent that assaulted his senses. Without needing to turn around, he knew that the Blood Man, who had been writhing in agony on the ground moments ago, was now standing and charging at him.
Just as Jiang Liu thought he was about to meet his end there, his body suddenly dipped low, and then he spun around with a sweeping kick. He watched as the Blood Man lost his balance and flew outwards, crashing to the ground.
Jiang Liu stood there in a daze, staring at his own stance in disbelief that he had survived the Blood Man's ambush and even managed to send him flying. Wang Chao, who had been screaming in pain just moments ago, was now staring at Jiang Liu in shock, completely forgetting his own plight. After a long pause, he exclaimed, "Are you seriously cheating?"
Jiang Liu turned to look at Wang Chao's comical figure as he crouched on the ground holding his head. He stammered, "I... I don't know."
In truth, Jiang Liu had no idea how he had pulled off that impressive move. If he had known he possessed such skills, he wouldn't have turned to flee at the sight of the Blood Man. The series of fluid movements his body had executed filled him with dread; it felt as if someone else had taken control of him in that fleeting moment.
As Jiang Liu pondered what had just happened, Wang Chao noticed that ever since Jiang Liu had knocked the Blood Man down, it hadn't moved at all. Gaining some courage, he stood up and rubbed his head while cautiously approaching the Blood Man step by step. He called out to Jiang Liu, "Stop daydreaming! That thing seems to be out cold!"
Hearing Wang Chao's words and glancing back at the Blood Man he had just sent flying, Jiang Liu confirmed that indeed the Blood Man lay motionless on the ground, leaving them both puzzled about what had transpired.
