The police officer saw Jiang Liu staring blankly at the bizarre manner of the deceased's death. There was no trace of sorrow on his face; instead, he looked up in confusion, mirroring the pose of the corpse as he gazed into the void. 0

"Excuse me, what is your relationship with the deceased?" the officer began to interrogate the two. 0

"Well, Officer, we are students from the same school. He was our senior," Wang Chao stepped forward to explain. 0

"Then how did you end up here?" 0

"We wanted to ask Jia Senior about something. We were chatting at that Noble Café this morning and just parted ways not long ago. We never expected something like this would happen so soon." At this point, Wang Chao displayed a sorrowful expression, though it was unclear whether it was genuine or merely for show to appease the police. 0

"Is the deceased's surname Jia?" The officer pulled out a notebook from his pocket and began to inquire about some basic details. 0

On the surface, this incident appeared to be an unusual accident. However, adhering to police protocol, the officer, who looked to be just over thirty, decided to question these two young men further. 0

Just as Wang Chao was carefully explaining the situation to the officer, Jiang Liu, who had been staring blankly into space, suddenly lunged at them. Before the middle-aged police officer and Wang Chao could react, Jiang Liu knocked them both down onto the cold concrete ground. 0

As the officer hit the ground, he realized what had happened and was about to shout "Assaulting an officer!" when a loud crash erupted from where he had just been standing, followed by a cloud of dust rising into the air. 0

When the dust settled in the gentle breeze, the middle-aged man saw a steel rebar, about as thick as a thumb and over two meters long, standing upright and embedded in the concrete. Witnessing this scene made him break out in a cold sweat. He thought to himself: if I hadn't been knocked aside just now, I might have ended up like that deceased person named Jia Ren, impaled by that falling rebar. 0

"What the hell! Jiang Liu, what is wrong with you? Why did you knock us down like that?" 0

Wang Chao's words abruptly halted as he noticed the steel rebar that had suddenly appeared, standing upright in the ground. Stammering, he looked at Jiang Liu and exclaimed, "What the hell is going on here?" 0

Jiang Liu, who had just tackled the two of them to the ground, stood up and brushed off the dust. He was also quite shaken; if it hadn't been for his quick reflexes, things could have turned disastrous. 0

The crowd that had been watching the commotion quickly dispersed upon witnessing the incident, moving away from the three of them. Other young police officers rushed over to pull the man away from the scene. In an instant, a large area around Jia Ren's lifeless body was cleared. 0

No one dared to linger nearby anymore; everyone kept their distance from this dangerous spot. 0

"I don't know either," Jiang Liu explained as he gestured to the empty space. "I just saw something fall from above and hurried to pull you out of the way." 0

"Damn it, is someone trying to kill us?" Wang Chao cursed as he looked up at the rooftop, searching for any figures. 0

This remark caught the attention of the Middle-Aged Police Officer, who was still trying to calm himself. He barked at a few young officers nearby, "You, take some people upstairs right now. If you find anyone on the roof, detain them immediately." 0

Clearly shaken, the Middle-Aged Police Officer spoke with an authoritative tone, sending several young officers upstairs to apprehend anyone they might find. Once the officer named Wu led a group upstairs, the middle-aged man turned back to Jiang Liu and politely expressed his gratitude. 0

"Buddy, I really owe you one this time. If it weren't for you, I might not have made it out alive." 0

"You're too kind, Officer," Jiang Liu replied quickly, waving his hand dismissively. "If you hadn't brought us in here, you might have faced this situation yourself." 0

In his heart, Jiang Liu truly believed this. If the earlier incident wasn't some sort of malicious act, he would never accept such a coincidence—why would something fall at that precise moment when all three of them were there? 0

As he pondered this thought, Jiang Liu glanced at the steel rebar that had fallen and felt that something about its landing seemed off. 0

Calmed down, Wang Chao began to suspect that the recent incident was likely not just a simple accident. He didn't dare to linger any longer and turned to the Middle-Aged Police Officer. "Officer, we have things to attend to. Can we leave for now?" 0

Normally, protocol would not allow the two of them to leave, but the Middle-Aged Police Officer reconsidered. He realized that the incident might have had a significant impact on these two young individuals. Even if he brought them back to the station, he probably wouldn't get much information from them. It would be better to let them go and cool off for a bit. Moreover, since this young man had just saved his life, it felt unreasonable to refuse. 0

After hesitating for a moment, he quickly made his decision. "Of course you can go, but I need you both to leave your contact information so we can follow up with some questions later." 0

The two had no reason to refuse this request. After providing their contact details to the middle-aged man, they quickened their pace and left the scene. 0

As they walked past the crowds on either side of the road, the chilling sensation that had enveloped Jiang Liu finally dissipated. This cold feeling had clung to him ever since he reached the spot where Jia Ren had died, which was why he had looked up at the sky at that moment. 0

Rather than seeking out the direction Jia Ren had looked before dying, he was searching for the source of that chilling sensation. Wang Chao, who was less sensitive than Jiang Liu, clearly did not feel the same coldness. His face turned pale as he looked at Jiang Liu. "Do you think what happened earlier was...?" 0

"Yeah, pretty much. Otherwise, it wouldn't be such a coincidence that the rebar fell just as we got there," Jiang Liu nodded. "And I think it's very possible that we've attracted some unwanted attention." 0

Wang Chao's expression shifted several times before he muttered a few curses and asked Jiang Liu, "Can ghosts really kill outside of school?" 0

Indeed, this was something neither of them had considered. All previous incidents had occurred within the campus, including the one involving the elderly man. They had subconsciously assumed that ghosts could not act outside school grounds. However, given what had just happened, it seemed clear that ghosts could operate beyond those boundaries. 0

Now Wang Chao felt a heavy weight in his heart; it seemed that no matter where he went, he could sense an unseen gaze watching him from the shadows. This feeling of being observed made him extremely uncomfortable. 0
