"What should we do?"
Although he didn't know what method Liu Ming had in mind to escape this Haunted Building without the four of them dying, Zhang Lin realized that from the very first moment he saw Liu Ming, Liu Ming had not shown any intent to harm them. His attitude towards the newcomers might just be a personal quirk. As for Zhang Lin's earlier insistence on pulling Shuangshuang away, it was merely a reflection of the darker aspects of human nature.
As for whether he dared to do it? As long as he wasn't dead, there was nothing he wouldn't dare!
With that thought, Zhang Lin tightened his grip on the soft hand in his own. He couldn't die! At least not until he had escaped this damned hell!
"Earlier, there was an unfortunate newcomer who got dragged into a room on the seventh floor by a ghost, right? Although I didn't see his body, I can be sure he's in grave danger. My plan is for the four of us to go to the seventh floor, enter that room, find the newcomer’s body, and then escape from here!"
Liu Ming laid out his plan, looking into Zhang Lin's eyes, eager to see what choice this promising newcomer would make.
After listening to Liu Ming's proposal, Zhang Lin pondered for a moment before raising his head to ask Liu Ming, "That's fine, but I want to know who among us four will enter that room to look for the newcomer’s body!"
Zhang Lin wasn't foolish.
After hearing Liu Ming's plan, he had been thinking about why Liu Ming wanted both of them—newcomers—to participate.
After considering it thoroughly, only one conclusion emerged!
Liu Ming was uncertain whether the ghost that killed the newcomer was still in that room. Therefore, he needed someone to enter and test the waters. If the ghost hadn't left that room, then whoever entered would undoubtedly be walking into a trap and could be killed by the ghost!
Zhang Lin's question about who would enter that room to search for the newcomer’s body clearly indicated that he would not go in alone! And if Liu Ming suggested that he and Shuangshuang go in together, he certainly wouldn't agree. The worst-case scenario would be for him and Shuangshuang to start running around this Haunted Building!
If it really came to that point, both sides would undoubtedly end up in a fight to the death!
Zhang Lin passed the question to Liu Ming, curious about how he would respond.
Liu Ming seemed to have anticipated Zhang Lin's question. He didn't show much expression and smiled, "If it's just the two of us entering the room, while Wang Xing and your girlfriend wait outside, then if something happens, we'll just rely on our luck to see who can escape the room!"
"No way!"
"Don't do it!"
The former was Wang Xing's response. He couldn't understand why Liu Ming would put himself in such a dangerous situation. If they had to enter the room, the best option would be for everyone to go in together. That way, no one would harbor suspicions against each other. But now Liu Ming only wanted him and Zhang Lin to enter that haunted room. What was he really planning?
The latter "don't" came from Shuangshuang. Having listened to the conversation, if she still didn't understand what was going on, then she had truly lived in vain! She didn't want Zhang Lin to enter that haunted room for her sake. If he were to die inside, Shuangshuang couldn't imagine how she would live on afterward. Right now, Zhang Lin meant everything to her; without him, her spirit might very well collapse!
As soon as Liu Ming finished his suggestion, she grabbed Zhang Lin's hand, wanting to leave and prevent him from agreeing to this plan.
At that moment, Zhang Lin stood firm like a tree deeply rooted in the ground. No matter how much Shuangshuang pulled, she couldn't budge him.
"No way!"
Zhang Lin shook his head firmly and looked into Liu Ming's eyes as he earnestly explained:
"I can't leave Shuangshuang alone outside. I'm not like you guys! This is my first encounter with such supernatural events; I know nothing about it. You all have experienced these kinds of situations before and know what to do. Once we enter the room, if something happens, your chances of getting out alive are greater than mine. And if you manage to escape, then Shuangshuang will have only one fate! So I can't take that risk!"
"Clap, clap."
Liu Ming suddenly clapped his hands. He felt relieved by Zhang Lin's calmness and asked, "So what do you want to do?"
"We three should go in together, leaving Shuangshuang outside! And you must go in first. I can walk between you two, with Wang Xing following behind. That way, I can feel at ease!" Zhang Lin proposed.
"Are you not afraid that Wang Xing will suddenly close the door after both of us enter the room and escape by himself?" Liu Ming countered.
"What do you mean, Liu Ming?" Wang Xing felt irritated upon hearing Liu Ming's words; he thought he was being underestimated.
"I'm not worried. From the way Wang Xing acted when you were born earlier, I believe he’s not that kind of person," Zhang Lin replied confidently.
"So my impression in your eyes is that bad?" Liu Ming looked at Zhang Lin and smiled. "Having a villainous look isn't good. I agree with your suggestion; we three guys will enter the room together, and I'll go in first!"
Seeing Liu Ming decisively agree, Zhang Lin was momentarily stunned.
She wondered what exactly Liu Ming was planning.
"Since we've decided, let's head to the seventh floor! I have a bad feeling about this; it seems like something is going to happen!" Liu Ming said as he looked down the dimly lit corridor.
"Okay."
Seeing Liu Ming make a decision, Wang Xing had no choice but to agree. He knew that once Liu Ming made a choice, it would be hard to change it—at least for him!
Zhang Lin had no choice but to follow Liu Ming into the corridor. Behind them, Zhang Lin noticed that Zhang Lin was decisively heading into the hallway, and she pulled Shuangshuang's hand to follow along.
Suddenly, Shuangshuang grabbed her hand, and turning back, she looked at Zhang Lin with red eyes and said, "Can we not go? I don't want you to take risks for me!"
Zhang Lin gazed at the captivating face before her and replied gently, "Don't overthink it. I'm just trying to ensure we both survive. Besides, this is only the Second Night. We will need them to survive in the future; there's no way I'm going to throw my life away so easily!"
"Really?" Shuangshuang clearly seemed skeptical of Zhang Lin's words. Although she often found Zhang Lin adorably foolish, her intuition told her that Zhang Lin was definitely hiding something.
"Really!"
At that moment, Zhang Lin felt as if she were coaxing a child, making numerous promises just to get Shuangshuang to agree to go to the seventh floor with her.
"What are you two doing? You’re not planning to escape, are you?"
Liu Ming's voice echoed from the corridor, laced with obvious sarcasm.
"I'm just explaining some things to Shuangshuang! If you're scared, you can run away!"
Zhang Lin shot back defiantly and then pulled Shuangshuang along as they hurried toward Wang Xing and Liu Ming.
