Standing by the window, Jiang Liu cautiously leaned against the frame and looked down. 0

What had originally been a space occupied only by Liu Ming and Wang Xing now had an additional figure. In the moonlight, he could make out some familiar clothing styles, and upon closer inspection, he realized that the familiar attire was the military uniform they wore. No wonder it was hard to see clearly under the moonlight. 0

Soon after, two more people walked out of the dormitory; they were Zhang Lin and Shuangshuang, who had been talking in the hallway earlier, followed by another person. 0

Seeing the three emerge from the dormitory, Liu Ming's voice rang out, laced with sarcasm: "I thought you three would be too scared to come out after what happened last night!" 0

"As newcomers, I don't think there’s anything shameful about our actions last night. It's only natural to feel afraid when encountering something like this for the first time!" A voice suddenly spoke up from among the three newcomers. 0

Jiang Liu recognized it as Zhang Lin's voice from earlier in the hallway. He couldn't help but admire her calmness; even in such a supernatural event, she could respond so composedly to Liu Ming's sarcastic remarks. This was not something an ordinary newcomer could manage. He recalled how the newcomers had reacted during his own experiences with supernatural events, especially at Wildwood Hotel. If Li Lin hadn't chosen to sacrifice herself in the end, it would have been anyone's guess who the ghost would have killed! 0

"Since you've chosen to come down, it means you believe what Liu Ming and I have said. I hope that in the upcoming supernatural events, we won't see any more actions akin to last night's suicidal behavior!" Wang Xing interjected at this moment, looking at everyone as he continued, "I'm sure you've verified the impact of Su Xue's death with Bai?" 0

"Yes, when I asked Su Xue's roommates during Bai's time, they couldn't recall anyone named Su Xue!" Zhang Lin replied. "I told others about what happened last night, but their reactions were like a foreigner trying to communicate with an illiterate in English—completely incomprehensible! Strangely enough, when I wrote down my account in Chinese for others to see, they couldn't understand my writing either and thought I was drawing some kind of bizarre symbols." 0

"What! You told others about it!" Liu Ming interrupted Zhang Lin excitedly and shouted at her, "You idiots! What on earth did you do? Didn't I warn you last night not to share any details about the supernatural events with anyone?" 0

His voice was so loud that it nearly startled Jiang Liu, who was secretly observing from upstairs. He was also puzzled as to why Liu Ming was reacting so intensely; after all, it was just sharing details about an event that others couldn't comprehend anyway. He wondered if there was some other reason behind Liu Ming's agitation. 0

"What’s wrong? Anyway, others didn’t understand what I wrote," Zhang Lin stammered, taken aback by Liu Ming's reaction. 0

“Damn it, damn it, damn it! How did I end up with you bunch of useless teammates!” Liu Ming ignored Zhang Lin, kicking angrily at a nearby tree trunk. He turned back, glaring fiercely at the few newcomers, wishing he could eliminate these incompetent teammates right before him. 0

At that moment, Wang Xing stepped forward to comfort the agitated Liu Ming and then turned to the newcomers. “Hey, I should have made it clear to you last night. Do you know why Liu Ming and I told you not to share your experiences of the supernatural events with anyone else?” 0

“Why?” Zhang Lin sensed an ominous feeling from Wang Xing's words. 0

“Because ‘it’ has stipulated that we cannot tell anyone outside the participants. If you do, then anyone who hears about it will be chosen to participate in the supernatural event, excluding the person who disclosed it.” Wang Xing's tone carried a hint of regret. 0

“What do you mean?” 0

The four newcomers showed signs of panic upon hearing Wang Xing's explanation. Their expressions suggested they had likely done something similar before. 0

Liu Ming looked at their anxious faces and sneered, “Are you just now realizing your mistake? It’s too late! I hope you haven’t told your families or any relatives or friends. Otherwise, all your family members will be dragged into this terrifying hell because of your reckless actions, ultimately suffering and dying in pain and despair!” 0

Upon hearing this, Shuangshuang's body went limp, and she collapsed onto the ground. Zhang Lin rushed in front of Liu Ming and shouted, “Tell me! Tell me you’re lying!” 0

“I’m sorry, but I haven’t lied to you even once!” Liu Ming roughly pried Zhang Lin's hands off his collar and smirked. “By the looks of you all, you must have told your families, right? So I regret to inform you of some unfortunate news: because of your disobedience, your families will soon be involved in these terrifying and despairing supernatural events! Everyone you’ve told won’t escape!” 0

“No, it shouldn’t be like this,” Zhang Lin stumbled back a few steps in despair. He recalled how he had shared his experiences from last night with his parents back home. Remembering their aging faces and how much they had worried for him made it hard for him to believe he could be the one responsible for their deaths. 0

“Now do you understand why Liu Ming and I warned you not to disclose the details of the supernatural events?” Wang Xing looked sadly at the distraught newcomers. He regretted not telling them the reason last night; he had thought they would choose to trust him after experiencing such terrifying events, but they had forgotten humanity's inherent skepticism and doubt. 0

“There must be a way—tell me there’s a way to undo my mistakes!” Zhang Lin looked up at Wang Xing, his eyes already flooded with tears of regret. He desperately wanted to hear confirmation from Wang Xing’s lips. 0

Wang Xing hesitated to look at Zhang Lin, whose hopeful eyes filled him with a sense of dread. He couldn't bear to shatter her last glimmer of hope. Yet, past experiences reminded him that this was reality, not the idealized narratives crafted by authors. In real life, problems did not always have solutions, and it certainly wasn't like the fairy tales where every story concluded with a happy ending. 0

Upon seeing Wang Xing's silence, Zhang Lin already knew the answer. This dutiful son had become the very murderer of his parents. The harshness of this reality relentlessly struck at his seemingly strong, yet fundamentally fragile heart. 0
