Horror Chapter
As Jiang Liu stood in the elevator with Li Lin, his thoughts raced through his mind.
"Why has Liu the Great disappeared? No one saw him leave, and Bai's behavior seemed normal!"
Noticing Jiang Liu's pale face and furrowed brow, Li Lin asked with concern, "What's wrong? You look so troubled!"
"It's nothing, just thinking about some issues," Jiang Liu replied dismissively.
"Oh! What issues? Let's think about it together," Li Lin said, curiosity piqued.
"I'm just wondering why Liu the Great vanished! What could have caused his disappearance?" Jiang Liu posed two questions.
Upon hearing these questions, Li Lin's expression turned serious. After a moment of silence, he spoke, "I think it's very possible that Liu the Great saw a ghost and was killed by it. But since we haven't found his body, I'm not sure about this theory."
"If Liu the Great's disappearance is indeed due to some reason, I suspect he might have discovered some crucial clues in his room. It’s likely that because he found something significant, the ghost wanted to kill him," Jiang Liu offered his speculation.
"Are you suggesting that the hint for survival he gave me might be in our room?"
"Yes, that's the only possibility I've come up with so far." As he watched the elevator doors slowly open, Jiang Liu proposed another theory: "Are we triggering another kind of dead end right now?"
Li Lin followed Jiang Liu's gaze. The dark corridor appeared like a passageway to hell, waiting for their arrival.
Swallowing hard, Li Lin took a deep breath and calmly said, "Since we're already here, whether it's a dead end or not, let's find Liu the Great first."
Jiang Liu nodded and stepped out first, with Li Lin closely following behind.
The sound of footsteps echoed in the dark corridor, each step striking at Jiang Liu's heart, causing his heartbeat to quicken.
The second floor was simply arranged, consisting entirely of rooms. Jiang Liu turned the doorknob of one room but found it locked, so he abandoned the idea of trying to open every door.
“Liu the Great! Are you there?”
Jiang Liu suddenly called out, startling Li Lin beside him.
After waiting for a long time without any response, they had reached the deepest part of the corridor.
“Jiang Liu, don’t you think it’s a bit too dark here?”
Li Lin, who was walking behind him, spoke up. Jiang Liu also noticed this phenomenon.
Indeed! The second floor was far too dark; compared to the first floor, it was like the difference between light and darkness. Just moments ago, he could vaguely see the positions of each room, but now he couldn't even see his hand in front of his face. This darkness was overwhelmingly pure.
“We should leave; we can't stay on this floor any longer.”
Jiang Liu felt a bit scared; this floor felt like a no-man's land—devoid of light and sound. The only thing they could hear was the sound of their own footsteps.
Li Lin also felt a bit timid at this moment and agreed, turning to head back.
Jiang Liu kept his hand on the wall so he would know he was moving forward; otherwise, in this pitch-black darkness where he couldn't see his fingers, he might easily get lost.
After walking for a while, Jiang Liu heard Li Lin ahead mutter under his breath, “Damn it!”
"What's wrong?" Jiang Liu asked.
Li Lin's voice echoed, "There's no light ahead! We took a wrong turn!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Liu felt as if he had been struck by lightning. He realized why he had sensed something was off earlier; it was because there was no light!
When they came here, the elevator had lights. Even if they had walked far, they should have seen a glimmer of light in this pitch-black darkness. But now, everything before them was shrouded in darkness. If it weren't for Li Lin's voice coming from ahead, he wouldn't even be sure there was someone in front of him.
"What do we do now?"
In the absence of sight, a person could experience extreme panic, and Jiang Liu was in such a state, anxiously asking Li Lin.
"I don't know, but panicking won't help us now!"
Li Lin, being someone with more experience, managed to maintain a basic level of calmness, though his slightly trembling voice betrayed him.
"Jiang Liu, are you sure we're heading back?"
"I'm sure. I placed my hand on the wall when I couldn't see the path," Jiang Liu replied.
"Then it shouldn't be our problem!"
If it's not our problem, then it must be something supernatural!
Jiang Liu quickly pieced it together, and his fear intensified. Just when he was at a loss for what to do, a hand reached out and grasped his palm, followed by Li Lin's voice coming through again.
"Don't worry, we'll definitely find a way out of here. There has to be some clue guiding us!"
【It's really disgusting to see two big guys holding hands!】
Although Jiang Liu thought this way in his heart, he still didn't pull his hand away. In this situation, they had no choice but to stick together to avoid getting separated.
【But Li Lin's hand is so cold! Like a corpse.】

Suddenly, Jiang Liu seemed to remember something and was startled by his own thought, breaking out in a cold sweat. He struggled to open his lips and whispered hoarsely, "Li Lin."

Li Lin's voice was filled with fear and a forced calmness. From his tone, Jiang Liu understood that Li Lin was likely experiencing the same terror as he was and was subtly warning him not to speak out.

In the pitch-black darkness where he couldn't see his own fingers, being pulled forward by a dead man's hand would have driven anyone else insane.
Fortunately, both Li Lin and Jiang Liu had strong wills; they managed to maintain their composure in such a terrifying situation, pretending that nothing was wrong.
If it were anyone else, they might have lost their resolve and triggered a dead end!
They continued walking, but it was unclear how long they had been at it.
Jiang Liu was anxious as the half-hour mark approached. Just then, he felt something moving in front of him, constantly brushing against his nose, making it itch. He was about to reach out to grab it and see what it was when Li Lin's voice came from ahead.
"Hey! Jiang Liu, do you remember that particularly venomous mosquito we encountered? The kind that makes you itch more the more you scratch!"
Jiang Liu lowered his left hand, which he had raised, realizing how timely Li Lin's reminder was. He replied, "I remember, but I was clever back then; I wouldn't scratch at all!"
"That's good to hear! I think we're almost there! I can vaguely see a light up ahead!"
"Oh! Really? That's fantastic!"
Are we about to get out? But why hasn’t the ghost killed me and Li Lin?
Jiang Liu found it puzzling that the ghost chose not to kill them at this moment.
Or could it be that the ghost cannot kill us? Instead, it wants to lead us out!
An astonishing thought suddenly popped into his mind.
Soon, a glimmer of light appeared in Jiang Liu's dark vision, and he could vaguely make out Li Lin's figure ahead. At that moment, the cold hand that had been gripping his palm loosened and withdrew.
Once he felt that the thing had disappeared, both of them began to sprint for their lives!
