Horror Chapter
"It should be a hint!" Li Lin nodded, agreeing with the White-Collar Man's words.
"Isn't this reminding us to pay attention to the time?" Xu Qian offered her guess.
"I don't know. So far, there haven't been any particularly obvious hints, so I can't be sure. However, with such a prominent Clock here, I believe it definitely represents something!" Li Lin said.
Then the group visited the other rooms and indeed found that none of them had windows.
After touring all the rooms, they returned to the hall and sat at the desks to discuss the paranormal event.
"We currently have two known hints: first, none of the rooms have windows, and second, each bedroom has a Black Clock. Now, let's think if there are any other places we've overlooked, and whether anything special happened to each of us in our rooms last night. This is very important! Because it could likely be a sign of a ghost's appearance!"
Li Lin looked at the others from his desk.
"Something special?" Student Sister recalled the scene in her room from last night. After a moment, she said, "I don't know if it was just my imagination, but while I was taking a shower last night, I felt like someone was watching me. I thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me and didn't pay much attention."
Upon hearing Student Sister's words, Li Lin and Xu Qian exchanged glances, thinking to themselves: Student Sister is very likely the first target of the ghost!
Others chimed in that they had experienced similar feelings last night. At that moment, Student Sister's voice trembled slightly as she asked, "Am I really the ghost's first target?"
"That's possible, but don't be too nervous. In every paranormal event where ghosts start killing people, there are usually some signs. If you notice anything unusual tonight, run out of your room and call for us immediately," Li Lin suggested to Student Sister.
"But isn't it forbidden to go out at night?" Student Sister asked fearfully.
"No, it only restricts staying outside for more than half an hour. Occasionally stepping out is fine," Li Lin replied.
"And tonight you shouldn't close your door. It’s best if we all keep our doors open while we sleep. That way, if something happens to anyone, we can quickly get out of our bedrooms," Jiang Liu added. "Remember to block your door with something heavy when you open it so it won't close."
"Okay, I'll do as you say. Just remember, if I scream for help, you must come rescue me!" Student Sister had completely entrusted her life to Li Lin and the others at this point.
"Don't worry; I will definitely save you," Li Lin assured her with a serious nod.
After confirming their plans, they began discussing other matters. At that moment, Jiang Liu noticed that Fat Man Liu the Great seemed off. From the first moment he saw him that morning, he had been repeatedly tapping his neck as if something were bothering him. Jiang Liu immediately spoke up to ask about it.
“Liu the Great, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell? I've noticed you've been tapping the back of your neck a lot today!”
The others in the room turned their attention to Jiang Liu's words, realizing that Liu the Great had indeed been tapping his neck excessively.
Seeing everyone looking at him made Liu the Great feel uncomfortable. He replied sullenly, “It's just that my neck feels a bit sore; I probably slept awkwardly last night.”
“Let me take a look.”
Li Lin, feeling concerned, walked behind Liu the Great to check. After not finding anything unusual, he felt relieved and returned to his seat.
As time passed, no one was able to come up with any effective solutions, and once again, night fell.
Back in his bedroom, Liu the Great looked at the open door and decided to close it.
He thought: I’m going to take a shower soon; it wouldn’t be good to leave the door open like this. Closing it for now should be fine; I can open it again after I’m done.
He stood in front of the large mirror once more, its surface reflecting his bulky figure, and let out a sigh.
Suddenly, he felt an itch in his eyes, as if something were crawling on them. It was very uncomfortable! He stepped forward a few paces to see if there was something in his eye.
Upon closer inspection, he discovered something terrifying! The whites of his eyes seemed to be bulging out, resembling a hand gripping them tightly. He jumped back in shock but then wondered if he was just seeing things.
Not fully convinced, he leaned closer to the mirror again but found that his eyes looked perfectly fine; there was nothing bulging at all! It seemed he had just imagined it—there was no hand there.
He clicked his tongue, thinking he was being overly sensitive, shook his head, and turned away from the mirror.
However, just as he stepped away from the mirror, a glance from the corner of his eye caught something that made his heart stop!
A red-dressed ghost with long flowing hair was sitting on his shoulder, its pale hands covering his eyes!
Liu the Great broke into a cold sweat and froze in place.
Fear gripped him as an overwhelming sense of terror washed over him.
"Tonight, if anything feels off, just run out of the room and call for help."
Liu the Great suddenly recalled a line spoken by Bai Li Lin earlier that day. Realizing what he had just remembered, he didn’t dare to confirm whether he was imagining things and dashed toward the door.
When he reached the door, he saw that he had carelessly closed it behind him. Regret washed over him.
How could he have been so careless? Why did he close the door? Please don’t let it be like in the movies where he couldn’t get it open!
Nervously placing his hand on the doorknob, he turned it lightly, and to his relief, the door opened!
Liu the Great paused for a moment but quickly ran out of the room.
“Hey! You all need to come out! I just saw a ghost!”
As soon as he stepped into the hallway, he began shouting.
It was then that he noticed the lights in the corridor had gone out at some point, leaving him in complete darkness.
“Hello! Is anyone there? Come out quickly!”
His fear escalated as he sensed something was wrong. His voice was loud enough that even if the hotel had good soundproofing, someone should have heard his cries for help. How could it be that no one came out?
Panic set in as he rushed to room 104, only to find the door firmly shut. No matter how hard he knocked, there was no response from inside, which made him furious.
“Damn it! Wasn’t everyone supposed to open their doors? What does it mean to keep them closed now? Is everyone inside dead? With all this noise, how can no one come out?”
Suddenly, Liu the Great froze, a terrifying thought flashing through his mind!
What if everyone else is dead?
Once that thought took root in his mind, it became impossible to shake off.
In a panic, he ran toward the other rooms, pounding on doors desperately. He knocked on each one but received no answers from anyone.
Despair and fear flooded his entire being.
He needed to escape this cursed place, to leave this haunted hotel!
His legs began to move, running towards the exit.
"We can only stay outside the room for zero minutes. Once the time is up, we must return immediately, or face the consequences!"
Just as his left foot was about to step out of the hotel, he recalled Li Lin's warning.
His running body came to a halt. He hesitated; what if Li Lin was telling the truth?
What would happen if he stayed outside for more than zero minutes?
He had no idea what the consequences might be, so he shrank back!
His outstretched left foot retreated once more.
