Gu Chen's words startled me, but when I thought of the Demon King's Cauldron, I understood. With a complex expression, I glanced back and hurried to catch up.
We were in the Yin Domain, and even with Gu Chen by my side, I still felt somewhat nervous.
However, after walking for about ten minutes, everything remained peaceful. Not only did we not encounter any of the Ghost Generals that Gu Chen mentioned, but we didn't even see a shadow of a ghost.
Aside from the eerie atmosphere filled with Yin Qi, there were only the sounds of our footsteps, which made me curiously murmur, "Master, didn't you say there are many ghosts here? How come we've been walking for a while and haven't seen a single one?"
"You want to see a ghost?" Gu Chen suddenly turned around, glaring at me.
I quickly shook my head and explained, "No, Master, I'm just curious."
He didn't listen to my explanation but said calmly, "Don't rush. The Yin Domain is a strange place. Once you enter the barrier, you generally won't encounter any ghosts within the first half hour unless there's an accident or they receive orders. This area isn't one they can freely roam."
"Are you saying someone is restraining them?" Gu Chen's words made me ponder.
"Of course."
Gu Chen nodded and continued, "The Yin Domain is a gathering place for various Wandering Spirits and Wild Ghosts. If there weren't some restraints in place, wouldn't this world be thrown into chaos with all of them running loose?"
"So that's how it is," I began to understand. In this world, whether human or ghost, there are constraints.
The only difference is that humans have their own constraints while ghosts have theirs.
And within the Yin Domain, the ones capable of restraining these Wandering Spirits and Wild Ghosts—from Ghost Soldiers to Ghost Generals—can only be the Mu Emperor and the Dark Night Ghost Emperor from the Second City of the Yin Domain.
Seeing my expression of realization, Gu Chen nodded lightly and said, "That's right. It is Mu City and Dark Night City that can restrain them."
After saying this, he reminded me once more, "When we encounter those entities later, remember not to stare at them for too long, especially the higher-level Spirit Entities. Keep this in mind; although we have the Invisibility Talisman, it's still wise to act cautiously to avoid any accidents."
I nodded repeatedly at Gu Chen's warning and made a mental note of it.
As we continued to move forward, I could already see vague figures in the distance ahead of us.
As we got closer, their appearances became clearer.
Most of them looked like ordinary people, dressed in various robes with hands and feet, but the only difference was that their faces appeared pale and devoid of color.
More importantly, their way of walking was different from ours; they didn't walk steadily but instead tiptoed or floated.
Of course, aside from these, there were also many who looked extremely terrifying.
Some had blood at the corners of their mouths, sharp fangs, fierce expressions, and even those missing half a face were not uncommon.
Suddenly, while I was observing closely, Gu Chen tugged at me.
I was startled and suddenly remembered Gu Chen's earlier warning, quickly retracting my gaze.
The only thing that relieved me was that these Spirit Entities seemed unaware of our presence, which made me curious about the Invisibility Talisman hanging around my neck.
Such a talisman could render us invisible to Spirit Entities; it truly was remarkable.
However, I could see that the characters before me, although some looked quite terrifying, were merely Ghost Soldiers or even Wandering Spirits and Wild Ghosts that had not yet reached the level of Ghost Soldiers.
As I brushed past them and continued forward, I noticed that the number of Wandering Spirits and Wild Ghosts was increasing, and their levels were gradually rising as well.
I glanced around; this Yin Domain seemed vast, giving me the impression that it was as boundless as the world outside.
This made me a bit anxious, so I asked, "Master, how are we supposed to find our way out aimlessly like this?"
Gu Chen continued walking while replying, "Let's head to Mu City first."
"Mu City?" I asked curiously.
"Yes."
Gu Chen nodded and explained, "Mu Yan comes from the Mu Family and has a blood connection with the Mu Emperor. This means your daughter also shares a blood relation with the Mu Emperor, making her a relative. If she were to come to the Yin Domain, she would likely come to the Mu Emperor."
As he said this, Gu Chen's gaze towards me felt strange, especially with the implication behind his words, leaving me speechless.
If that were truly the case, wouldn’t it mean that I am also related to this Demon Emperor of the Mu Family?
But I didn’t dwell on it too much; I nodded and said I would follow my master’s lead.
Gu Chen didn’t say much more and continued walking ahead.
However, the deeper we went, the more ghosts appeared. It was like a bustling market filled with ghostly figures drifting about. If it weren't for the knowledge I had gained during this time about various supernatural beings, I might have been truly frightened by the scene before me.
I felt a bit uneasy as the pale gazes of some high-level Spirit Entities fell upon me. It seemed as if they could sense my presence.
This feeling was intense, and even Gu Chen appeared to notice it.
His expression was grave, yet he remained silent, quickly leading me forward.
Before long, he stopped in front of what resembled an ancient city gate.
Seeing him halt, I hurriedly stood beside him, glancing up at the two prominent characters that read "Mu City."
"This is Mu City. I sense something is off. Once we enter, stay close to me. After I perform the ritual, we will leave swiftly," Gu Chen said, turning to look at me with a serious expression.
Although I didn’t know what ritual he intended to perform, the sense of unease I felt was particularly strong. Without a moment's hesitation, I nodded firmly and followed him into the city.
Mu City was indeed a ghost town; it had the appearance of a city with various buildings surrounding us, but they resembled ancient architecture.
However, there was no time to admire the scenery. As soon as we stepped inside, Gu Chen grabbed my arm and hurried us to a corner.
I noticed his face had grown even graver than before, prompting me to ask with concern, "Master, what's wrong?"
He spoke in a low voice, "Several powerful presences are approaching here."
"What?" His words sent a shiver down my spine, and my complexion turned pale.
"Don't panic and don't resist," he instructed. With that, he raised my hand and took out a dagger from his robe, gently drawing it across my middle finger.
I looked at him with curiosity, not understanding what he meant, but I followed his instructions without resistance, of course, I wouldn't resist.
Then I saw him take out a Blue Rune. What was strange was that this rune had no words on it; strictly speaking, it could only be considered a blue piece of paper.
Just as I was wondering about it, he extended his right hand, and his finger quickly touched my wound, smearing it with blood. The rune paper was then pressed against me, and in a flash, it began to write a spell in a dazzling display of red symbols.
The entire process was incredibly fast and seamless.
After finishing these actions, he chanted a few incantations, then flicked his fingers. The runes instantly burst into brilliant light, but what puzzled me was that the light gathered and did not disperse; instead, it hung before us like a mirror.
Within the mirror's surface, scenes flashed by like lightning.
"Master."
I almost gasped in disbelief.
But just as I was amazed, Gu Chen suddenly changed his expression drastically. He quickly put away the rune paper and shouted at me, "Not good! We need to leave!"
With that, he turned and ran towards the outskirts of Mu City. At that moment, I suddenly felt several chilling winds rushing towards me from behind like lightning.
