The massive dragon head suddenly emerged from the depths of the sea, shooting up a towering column of water and letting out a deafening Dragon Roar.
Its appearance instantly cleared the gloom, even the layers of gray mist hovering above the surface of the sea began to dissipate.
At this moment, it was only a few meters away from our ship. The proximity intensified the overwhelming sensation, making it even more astonishing.
We could clearly see its shiny Scale Armor, feeling the heat of its dragon breath as it exhaled.
"Don't be nervous; it seems like it's here to help us," Gu Chen said after swallowing hard, noticing our anxious expressions as we stared at the colossal creature breaking through the surface.
Even he, usually composed, couldn't hide his astonishment in the presence of such a gigantic being so close.
However, upon hearing his words, I and He Si felt a bit relieved because it did seem that way.
After its emergence, not only did the gray mist around us vanish, but everything on the ship also disappeared.
I mustered my courage and asked Gu Chen, "Master, what does it want? Why is it staring at us?"
Gu Chen shook his head. He Si quietly added, "Divine Dragons have spirits; perhaps it's curious about why we've been following it."
Undeniably true, but Gu Chen remained silent. I saw him take a deep breath and step forward.
"Master," I said nervously as I watched him.
He didn't respond but continued walking toward the edge of the ship's deck, getting even closer to the massive creature in the water.
At that moment, both He Si and I held our breath, staring wide-eyed at Gu Chen, puzzled by his intentions.
Even the Divine Dragon's enormous head tilted slightly, its bell-like eyes spinning in their sockets as if equally confused by Gu Chen's actions.
Then Gu Chen spoke. He addressed the Divine Dragon calmly: "I know you can understand me. We mean you no harm and have no intention of offending you. We certainly do not dare to challenge your might. We are also very grateful for your appearance to help us out of this crisis."
He was speaking to the Divine Dragon.
He Si and I looked at Gu Chen, disbelief written all over our faces.
In fact, he was indeed talking to the Divine Dragon before him. He paused slightly and continued, "However, I have an unreasonable request. I need a bit of your Divine Dragon blood to save my disciple."
After saying this, he turned to glance at me. When he turned back, he no longer cast another look but simply stared quietly at the Divine Dragon that was tilting its head.
To ask for blood from the Divine Dragon and to speak so grandly about it—it seemed only Gu Chen had the audacity to do so.
After his words fell, the Divine Dragon slightly shook its head, seemingly puzzled. But in the next moment, its bell-like eyes were fixed directly on me.
Instantly, I felt an immense pressure enveloping me like a tidal wave.
I knew it was the dragon's might, the innate pressure of a divine beast; it even made it hard for me to breathe. Yet, I dared not move an inch, standing there frozen, biting my lip to hold on.
"Xiao Lin, don't move. It’s observing you," Gu Chen quickly reminded me when he saw my distressed expression.
I wanted to ask what it was observing. Could it really discern what its Dragon Blood would do for me? But at that moment, speaking was a challenge as I bit my lip.
Fortunately, after just a short while, that overwhelming pressure vanished without a trace.
Suddenly, a massive wave surged on the sea. The Divine Dragon's body shot up from the depths, rising several meters in an instant until it was right beside the ship. Its enormous head stretched onto the deck, opening its gaping maw directly in front of Gu Chen.
It was so close.
I couldn't help but shout, "Master!"
He Si felt a surge of fear as he looked at the massive, gaping maw. If it were to bite down, it could easily swallow a living person whole.
"Don't be nervous," Gu Chen suddenly said, raising a hand. His gaze was fixed on the open mouth of the Divine Dragon. Taking a deep breath, he continued, "Are you suggesting that I draw blood from your mouth?"
To our surprise, the Divine Dragon gently shook its enormous head in agreement.
I could hardly believe my ears; it had agreed to give us Dragon Blood.
Gu Chen nodded respectfully and said, "Very well. You are a divine beast, your body as hard as steel, making it difficult to draw blood from you. However, extracting a bit of Dragon Blood from your mouth should be much simpler."
With that, he decisively turned to us and instructed, "Go find a sharp dagger in the cabin."
He Si and I exchanged glances, momentarily stunned, but quickly regained our composure. "I'll go," He Si said and dashed toward the cabin. It wasn't long before he returned with a sharp dagger in hand.
"Senior Gu," He Si said as he handed the dagger to Gu Chen, unable to resist glancing at the massive head before stepping back hastily.
Taking the dagger, Gu Chen's expression turned solemn. "To shed blood for others is the mark of a true divine beast; I apologize for this."
With that, he pulled out a small White Jade Bottle from his pocket and plunged the dagger into the interior of the Divine Dragon's mouth with force.
The Divine Dragon's body was incredibly tough; if it hadn't consented, there would have been no way to draw blood from it, especially out here in the vast ocean.
Even so, Gu Chen exerted considerable effort and only managed to penetrate a few millimeters.
But that was enough. As he withdrew the dagger, a drop of blood began to trickle slowly from the wound.
Without hesitation, Gu Chen quickly took the White Jade Bottle in his hand.
After a few drops of blood were added, he finally put it away, sealing it carefully inside his clothing. He then bowed deeply to the Divine Dragon and said, "This is more than enough. Thank you for your great kindness, Divine Dragon."
The Dragon Blood was taken solely to save me. Seeing Gu Chen bow, I did not hesitate and also bowed deeply to this colossal creature before us.
Of course, my bow was filled with heartfelt gratitude.
"Roar!"
The Divine Dragon let out a resounding roar, raising its head slightly to gaze into the distance before turning back to look at us and then moving forward, parting the waves.
Gu Chen immediately understood and shouted, "Brother Luo, can you operate a ship?"
Brother Luo did not understand what Gu Chen meant but quickly replied, "Although I'm not very skilled, I often deal with ships. I can manage simple operations."
"That's enough! Quickly operate the ship and follow it; it's going to take us away from this sea area."
Upon hearing this, Brother Luo's body trembled with excitement, and he said eagerly, "Alright, I'll go right now." With that, he turned and ran towards the direction of the control room.
