"Not good, she's in danger."
Upon seeing this, Mingyue hesitated for just a moment, her gaze fixed on Mu Yan, who was surrounded by golden characters in mid-air, and she was about to turn around to help.
However, Mao Shiba grabbed her arm. "What are you doing?" Mingyue said coldly.
Mao Shiba shook his head, his tone serious. "The Tianyan Huigui Hunting Diagram was written by Ling Yuanhan of the Ming Dynasty. It describes the Demon Zhong Kui."
"Zhong Kui hunts ghosts; that makes her even more dangerous." Mingyue's brows furrowed, her tension escalating instantly.
Yet Mao Shiba still held onto her arm tightly and urgently said, "You need to find Lin Hao first. Figure out a way to bring him back to my Second Uncle. Second Uncle already knows he has been affected by a love curse and is trying to find a way to break it. Leave her to me."
Mingyue was slightly taken aback. She looked deeply at Mao Shiba with her cold gaze and then nodded firmly without hesitation, turning swiftly to walk in the opposite direction.
Mao Shiba took a deep breath and glanced once more at Mu Yan, who was enveloped by the golden characters in the air, before hurriedly running into the house.
In the courtyard, Grandma Jiang's expression was cold as she focused on Mu Yan, still surrounded by the golden characters.
The Ghostly Gu Worm had long retreated and now hovered beside Grandma Jiang.
Mao Shiba entered from outside and looked at Grandma Jiang with a hint of admiration. "I didn't expect Grandma Jiang to have the original Tianyan Huigui Hunting Diagram in her possession."
Grandma Jiang glanced over and snorted lightly. "Though it's not an original piece, it has been revered by my Jiang Family for generations. The value of this diagram far exceeds that of an original."
"Not an original..."
Mao Shiba was momentarily taken aback, unable to resist taking another careful glance at the ancient, mottled painting in Grandma Jiang's hands, and he nodded slightly.
Regardless of whether this Tianyan Huigui Hunting Diagram was genuine or not, the content depicted was Zhong Kui. Zhong Kui was a Demon, and every word in the painting was precious; it was only natural that it could subdue ghosts.
However, there must be some secret methods involved, so Mao Shiba had no reason to doubt it.
As they spoke, Grandma Jiang turned the painting in her hand, revealing its content face up, aligning it with Mu Yan in the void.
The golden characters began to spin instantly, emitting a resonant sound as if Grandma Jiang were still repeatedly reciting those lines of poetry from earlier.
"Ah!"
A piercing howl escaped Mu Yan's lips as he waved his hands, a chilling Ghostly Energy surging around him to fend off the characters.
Those characters seemed to possess a powerful force, continuously pressing closer to Mu Yan. Amidst the flashing golden light, they relentlessly assaulted the Ghostly Energy pouring out from Mu Yan, wearing it down.
Mao Shiba was immediately alarmed and rushed forward, shouting, "Grandma Jiang, stop!"
"You better stand still!" Grandma Jiang shouted fiercely as Mao Shiba took a step forward.
Mao Shiba froze for a moment, instinctively halting his steps. He looked at Grandma Jiang and said, "Grandma Jiang, you know about the feelings between Mu Yan and Lin Hao. If you hadn't meddled with Lin Hao, how do you think he would choose?"
"Unfortunately, it's already a done deal. What good does it do for you to say all this?" Grandma Jiang snorted coldly, clearly unconcerned and not hiding the fact that she had interfered with Lin Hao.
"Well, what about Mu Yan?" Mao Shiba said again.
"Mu Yan."
Grandma Jiang snorted coldly, a fierce glint flashing in her eyes. "For the sake of my granddaughter, she cannot be allowed to live. I will eliminate her today."
As she spoke, her expression grew even more resolute.
The golden characters began to shrink like a spider's web, drawing closer and closer together, inching toward Mu Yan's body.
Mu Yan's face twisted in rage, her fingertips sharp as blades. She let out a series of piercing yet furious howls, her gaze fixed fiercely on Grandma Jiang.
Yet she was forced to swat away the golden characters that were closing in around her time and time again.
Mao Shiba looked anxious and quickly said, "Grandma Jiang, do you really have no concerns at all?"
"Concerns?"
Grandma Jiang snorted again. "What concerns do I have? As long as my granddaughter can be happy, that's all that matters."
"Mu Yan's identity," Mao Shiba said loudly.
At these words, Grandma Jiang paused slightly, and the golden characters in the void that had been tightening began to loosen considerably.
Mao Shiba quickly spoke again, "Mu Yan's identity is not simple. I'm sure Grandma Jiang has some understanding of this herself. If something were to happen to her, it would likely become a huge problem for you, even for you, Grandma Jiang."
"What do you mean by 'even'?" Grandma Jiang furrowed her brows deeply, her face lined with worry.
"The wrath of the Demon Emperor. Perhaps you can protect yourself, but how will you protect Xiao Juan in the process?" Mao Shiba took a deep breath, his expression serious.
Upon hearing this, Grandma Jiang was momentarily stunned, her complexion shifting noticeably.
The Ghost King was terrifying, but he was nothing compared to the Demon Emperor.
After Mu Yan and I had a relationship and gave birth to Li, the reason she instantly possessed the power of the Ghost King was closely related to the Demon King's Cauldron within me.
However, it was the same for Mu Yan. If she did not possess the bloodline of the Demon Emperor within her, then merely having the Demon King's Cauldron would be of no use.
Thus, there must be a connection between Mu Yan and Mu Emperor.
It could even be said that Mu Yan is a descendant of Mu Emperor. Last time in Chengdu, Xiao Juan was with us; upon returning, she would certainly have shared this with Grandma Jiang.
And Grandma Jiang could not possibly be foolish enough not to grasp the significance of this.
So for a moment, Grandma Jiang fell into silence.
She was not Gu Chen; facing the Demon Emperor, she dared not be careless and certainly could not make decisions lightly.
Outside the house, Mingyue ran a few steps forward but could not find my figure at all. After being swept out by a chilling wind from Mu Yan, it was as if I had vanished into thin air in the darkness.
This left Mingyue feeling anxious. Xiao Juan was the first to chase after me, but she too found nothing.
The two of them stood outside, looking frantic.
“Lin Hao! Lin Hao!”
They shouted my name repeatedly as they slowly moved forward.
Suddenly, in the night, Mingyue caught sight of a shadow that flickered past, seemingly trying to conceal itself like a ghost.
Without a moment's hesitation, Mingyue shouted and chased after it.
“Lin Hao!”
Xiao Juan was taken aback for a moment, but seeing that Mingyue had already pursued, she quickly followed suit.
