When I saw Yang Yi standing outside the door, I instantly shouted in anger, gritting my teeth in hatred.
However, the next moment, panic washed over me as I reached out to close the door, but it was already too late. Yang Yi kicked the door open with a force that sent me stumbling back several steps.
Standing in the yard, I glared at Yang Yi and demanded, "What do you want?"
"Heh, what do you think I want?" Yang Yi replied coldly, a sinister grin spreading across his face.
"Who are you? Don't mess around," Liu Man said, momentarily stunned by the sudden intrusion. But as she regained her composure, she quickly drew her sidearm and aimed it directly at Yang Yi.
I spoke up, "He's the one who wants to harm me."
"So it's you. I warn you to step back now, or I'll shoot," Liu Man said, a flicker of tension crossing her face as she raised her gun slightly higher in warning.
"Oh, so you brought the police to help you. That's why there's a police car parked outside," Yang Yi remarked nonchalantly, seemingly unfazed by the cold barrel of the gun pointed at him. He chuckled mockingly at both me and Liu Man.
"Put your hands up," Liu Man commanded again, unable to suppress her nerves.
But Yang Yi responded only with a cold laugh. Instead of complying with Liu Man's order, he took a step forward.
This made Liu Man even more anxious. I furrowed my brow and swiftly snatched the gun from her hand.
Liu Man gasped in surprise, "What are you doing?"
I didn't have time to explain. Gripping the gun tightly, I aimed it at Yang Yi with a dark expression and warned, "Yang Yi, if you dare take another step forward, I'll shoot you."
Although I had never handled a gun before, I had seen Liu Man unlock the safety earlier; I knew how to pull the trigger.
A hint of mockery flashed in Yang Yi's eyes as he sneered, "Go ahead and try."
As soon as his voice fell, I steeled my heart and without hesitation, fired a shot at him with a loud bang. At that moment, I couldn't care less about the consequences; even if I had killed someone, so what? This was a situation where it was either him or me.
The gunshot made Liu Man tremble all over, and my parents were even more shocked, their faces turning pale in an instant.
I stood frozen in place because the bullet had not hit Yang Yi. In the moment I pulled the trigger, he suddenly darted to the side with lightning speed, and I could even see the bullet whizzing past him.
His speed was astonishing; he could actually dodge a bullet.
As I prepared to shoot again, he was already in front of me. With one hand, he grabbed my arm that held the gun with immense strength. I felt as if my own strength had increased too, but it still couldn't compare to his. In the end, he twisted my arm sharply, causing me to let out a muffled groan as the gun fell from my hand to the ground.
Yang Yi couldn't help but sneer, "Kid, you've gotten stronger after just a few days."
I glared at him fiercely and broke free from his grip without saying a word. Yet deep down, I understood that my newfound strength must be related to that drop of blood from the Hu Family Immortal.
He smirked and said, "But don’t get too cocky. No matter how strong you become, you can't escape my grasp."
His expression suddenly turned dark as he continued with malice, "In the past, you had Mao Guoxue and others helping you. When you were in Taihang, there was that damned fox. Today, let's see who can save you."
Upon hearing this, my father realized that his words implied murder.
This was unacceptable. My father immediately grew anxious and said with deep resentment, "When did my son offend you? Why do you want to take his life? Don't you know that killing is against the law?"
At this moment, Liu Man stepped forward as well. Although she seemed nervous, she stood tall with her pretty face glaring at Yang Yi and said firmly, "I am a police officer; I advise you not to act recklessly."
As she spoke, she pulled out her badge and waved it in front of him. My mother stood by, pale-faced and at a loss for what to do.
"I know you're a police officer, but so what?" Yang Yi sneered.
I felt that today was a day of inevitable disaster. Yang Yi was someone who didn't care about his life, and even if Liu Man were here, it probably wouldn't make a difference.
To avoid implicating my parents, I gritted my teeth and turned to them, saying, "Mom and Dad, you should go inside. Don't worry about this."
"No, I'm not going in. If it comes to it, we'll fight him," my dad said, trembling with anger but shaking his head firmly.
Hearing my dad say this, my mom became resolute as well. She ran into the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and handed it to my dad.
I was momentarily speechless, but a deep sense of emotion welled up inside me. This was what parents were like—completely disregarding their own safety for the sake of their son.
But I still shook my head and urged them, "Mom, Dad, please listen to me and go inside."
"I said I'm not going in!" My dad was usually honest but was particularly stubborn at this moment.
With no other choice, I turned my gaze to Yang Yi and gritted my teeth, saying, "Yang Yi, the grudges between us have nothing to do with my family. Don't make things difficult for them."
Yang Yi shrugged nonchalantly. "Even if I don't make things difficult for them now, they won't live long anyway."
"Oh no, it's not just them; the entire village won't live long." He couldn't help but smirk again.
A chill ran down my spine as I recalled Gu Chen's words. Yang Yi's method of using corpses had destroyed the ancestral tombs of everyone in our village. The feng shui of the graves had been ruined; our ancestors would not rest in peace. It seemed that death was imminent.
"Alright, I'm done playing with you. Let's settle our grudges today." With that, Yang Yi wiped the smile off his face, his gaze turning cold as he made his move.
But how could I just sit back and wait? I immediately swatted his hand away.
Seeing us engage again, Liu Man bravely rushed forward and shouted, "Stop! If you don't, when my people arrive, I'll take you to the police station."
"Ridiculous," Yang Yi scoffed, showing no concern.
However, he did not attack Liu Man. Instead, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a rune, waving it in front of her while chanting a couple of incantations. Liu Man's expression instantly turned dazed, and within moments, her body went limp as if she had fallen asleep, collapsing onto the ground.
His gaze then turned toward me, revealing a chilling hunger for violence. Seeing this, my dad grabbed a kitchen knife and swung it at him.
But Yang Yi easily kicked him down to the ground, leaving him unable to move for quite some time. My mom immediately rushed to my dad's side, worry etched on her face.
Witnessing this, anger surged within me. I glared at Yang Yi and shouted, "Yang Yi, I want your life!"
"Fine, show me what you've got," Yang Yi laughed arrogantly. In an instant, we clashed together, fists and feet flying as we struck at each other.
There was no denying that with a trace of the Hu Family Immortal's blood coursing through me, my strength had indeed increased significantly; even my bones felt sturdier.
Yet I was still no match for Yang Yi. I lost count of how many times he sent me flying. Each time I got back up and charged at him again.
When he finally kicked me down for the last time, I could no longer rise. It felt as if all my bones had shattered, blood streaming down my face.
My mom rushed forward but was easily pushed aside by him, just like my dad. They could only watch helplessly as we fought.
"Come on, get up!" Yang Yi taunted with a cold smile as he stepped closer to me.
Suddenly, his footsteps paused slightly. At that moment, I heard the distant sound of police sirens growing louder until they stopped right outside my house.
"Unbelievably, the police actually came," Yang Yi sneered, his expression darkening further.
Yet he showed no signs of retreating; instead, he took another step forward. I knew this time he truly intended to finish me off.
Just as he took a step forward, a gunshot rang out with a loud bang.
He let out a cold snort and froze in place, and I was momentarily stunned as well.
It was my dad, crouched on the ground, lifting his head. In his trembling hand was the gun that had fallen earlier, its barrel aimed directly at Yang Yi, yet there was a hint of satisfaction in the smile at the corner of his mouth.
I saw blood dripping from Yang Yi; the bullet had left a gaping wound in his leg.
He turned around in disbelief, his gaze fixed on my dad, dark and filled with rage, as he spat out through clenched teeth, "Old fool."
With his bleeding leg, he staggered toward my dad.
A wave of worry surged through me, and I shouted, "Yang Yi, stop right there!"
I stood up from the ground and lunged at him.
But he landed a punch squarely on my face, leaving me dazed as I fell backward.
