Mingyue was not an easy person to deal with; she was not the type to have a good temper. Xiao Juan's repeated sharp remarks inevitably provoked her, and as Mingyue herself said, if she got angry, it would be Xiao Juan who would suffer. So after being told off by her, Xiao Juan could only shut her mouth in frustration, glaring at Mingyue. However, I was taken aback by Mingyue's words—she really kissed me! And it was something she admitted herself, so it couldn't be false. But then Mingyue continued, "If I hadn't done that at the time, you would have suffocated to death because you were losing too much blood and were already showing symptoms of difficulty breathing." As she spoke, she glanced at me apologetically, and her tone softened instantly. Her words relieved me; I understood and nodded awkwardly, saying, "Well, thank you." 0

"Don't mention it; this was my responsibility," Mingyue replied before turning and leaving the room. Only Xiao Juan and I remained in the room. At that moment, Xiao Juan stood by the window, suddenly looking serious as she gazed at me. I thought it was because of Mingyue's earlier behavior that she was still angry, so I said, "Don't take it to heart; you know how Mingyue is." 0

Xiao Juan ignored my comment and straightforwardly asked, "Lin Hao, tell me, between Mu Yan, Mingyue, and me, who would you choose?" 0

"Choose who?" I was taken aback. "What do you mean by that? Xiao Juan, what are you talking about?" 0

"I mean who you would want to keep by your side as your future wife," she clarified. 0

"What?" I was speechless. "Xiao Juan, that's a bit far-fetched! Where is this coming from? I haven't even thought about it." 0

"Don't say you haven't thought about finding a wife; I don't believe you. Just answer me honestly," Xiao Juan insisted firmly. 0

I frowned slightly and looked at her more closely. Of course, I had thought about marriage; it's a natural part of growing up. But regarding what Xiao Juan just said, I hadn't really considered it deeply. After spending some time together, I could feel Xiao Juan's affection for me. However, being with her had never crossed my mind. As for Mingyue, that felt even more impossible; she always seemed so unattainable and distant to me. The only one who left me conflicted was Mu Yan; I truly didn't know how to interact with her anymore. Yet I couldn't let go of her either—especially since she carried my child. Regardless of what was inside her belly, that was an undeniable fact. 0

So when faced with Xiao Juan's question, I found myself unable to respond and fell into silence. After a brief pause, Xiao Juan nodded heavily and said softly, "I understand." 0

"What do you understand?" I asked curiously. 0

She smiled slightly but answered evasively yet with determination: "Lin Hao, remember this—you belong to me; no one can take you away." With that, she turned and walked out of the hospital room. 0

Xiao Juan left; she wasn't leaving the hospital but returning to Jintan. Like Gu Chen and Zhou Zhen before her, she departed without saying goodbye. However, this time Xiao Juan's exit felt less harmonious than expected. Left alone on the hospital bed, I reflected on what Xiao Juan had just said and felt an ominous premonition creeping in. 0

With a helpless sigh, I wondered when my luck with women had improved so much that Xiao Juan became so attached to me. But now that Mu Yan was in the picture with all the ties and responsibilities that came with it, I dared not entertain any thoughts about Xiao Juan. 0

Little did I know that this departure would lead to a significant change in Xiao Juan later on. 0

When I returned to the hotel two days later, Mu Yan had been taking care of me during my recovery. As for her condition—if one were careful—no normal person would have noticed anything unusual about her health. What surprised me even more was that Mingyue chose to stay and care for me for those two days as well. Moreover, Mu Yan did not question this like Xiao Juan had done before; this made me somewhat curious. 0

When I asked her about it, she simply stated that it was a matter of trust and that Mingyue had already explained her reasons. This left me speechless but also relieved. 0

In the hotel were just Mu Yan, Mingyue, Anfu, and He Si. After several days of rest, He Si could finally get out of bed and walk around but still couldn't engage in any strenuous activity. However, Jin Zhongyun was nowhere to be seen; later on, Mu Yan informed me that he had left after witnessing Mingyue kiss me and had argued with her over it. 0

This made me chuckle bitterly as I apologized to Mingyue for the situation. But she casually shook her head and said she didn't like him anyway; he had always believed he was her boyfriend. If he wanted to leave, then let him go. 0

I refrained from commenting on others' feelings since it wasn't my place to judge. 0

However, out of curiosity during our private moments together, I asked Mingyue why she suddenly acted like that one night—what exactly happened? Her answer sent chills down my spine again: it was because of the Corpse King in the cave; its claws had left a mark on her chest that carried corpse energy which hadn’t been dealt with in time and infected her system—this caused her consciousness to spiral out of control until she nearly became stiff like a zombie. 0

Fortunately for us now though, those energies had been expelled from her body. 0

After another week passed and He Si's injuries healed almost completely, we decided it was time to leave. Mu Yan and I agreed to head towards Taihang Mountains. Gu Chen had mentioned before leaving that we could find what we needed to break the Demon King's Cauldron there—and all of this depended solely on me. 0

So during these days leading up to our departure, I focused on studying the three volumes of Lark's Secret Record so I'd be prepared for any dangers we might encounter. 0

He Si initially planned to accompany us but ultimately decided against it after learning Gu Chen's true intentions; he left along with Anfu instead. 0

As for Mingyue—she clearly stated her decision: she would join Mu Yan and me on our journey to Taihang Mountains. Her choice puzzled me; could it be true what Xiao Juan said—that she liked me? 0

I couldn't help but think this way in my mind; however, Mingyue clarified for me: the reason she chose to accompany us was because of Mu Yan. She believed I didn’t yet have enough strength to protect Mu Yan properly—that’s why she made this decision. 0

Although this reasoning seemed somewhat flimsy at first glance—it couldn’t be denied. 0

So we bid farewell to He Si and Anfu before heading straight towards Taihang! We ventured into those unknown deep mountains once again—this journey would enrich my experiences further as we encountered things and beings I'd never seen before. 0
