I wanted to struggle, but no matter the time, my strength could never surpass Mingyue's. So, despite my efforts, I couldn't break free from her grasp. She held me tightly, our bodies pressed closely together, compressing the softness of my chest. Under normal circumstances, or in the past, this situation would have sparked many thoughts in my mind. But now, aside from the instinct to survive, my mind was blank. I understood clearly that Mingyue had lost her sanity; otherwise, she wouldn't treat me this way. However, I had to face a harsh reality: if things continued like this with Mingyue, I felt certain I wouldn't survive. Her sharp teeth sank deeply into the skin of my neck, and I felt blood flowing continuously as she drank from me. Gradually, I began to lose sensation due to excessive blood loss; my body started to numb. I wanted to close my eyes and stop struggling, allowing her to drain my blood completely. But just as my eyes began to shut, they snapped open again. No! A voice inside me screamed that I couldn't die like this. My parents, my relatives, Mu Yan, and the child growing inside her... Their faces flashed through my mind in that moment—too many concerns weighed on me. I desperately tried to think of a way to save myself, shaking my head vigorously to clear my thoughts. The Left Thunder Formation. Suddenly, I recalled the hand technique Mao Guoxue used against the Cloud Ghost General when he turned into a zombie back in Jintan. But the next moment, I hesitated again because I didn't know if I could truly execute this seemingly simple yet powerful technique. And if I did succeed, what harm would it bring to Mingyue? I had no answers for these questions, so when my hand slowly rose, it fell back down again. 0

Yet even with a blank mind, aside from the Left Thunder Formation technique, I couldn't think of any other method. Just then, I felt her grip on me gradually loosen. Mingyue's head slowly moved away from my face. "Mingyue..." I weakly called out; if there had been a mirror at that moment, it would have reflected just how pale I had become. As soon as those words left my lips, I felt utterly powerless and slumped down! However, I was quickly steadied again by her strong hands; it was Mingyue who grabbed my shoulders and looked intently at me. Her gaze seemed to regain a hint of clarity but quickly turned hollow once more. 0

"Ah..." she let out a piercing roar as her hands released me completely and clutched her own head in agony. After casting one last glance at her, I collapsed onto the ground and lost consciousness. That night, I had no idea what happened or how I survived. But when I woke up, I found myself in a hospital bed. Beside me sat Mingyue, pale and weak-looking; upon seeing me awake, her expression softened slightly. In her eyes, I saw regret and something else—a different kind of emotion that was hard to describe. Today’s Mingyue felt different from before; although her gaze still carried an icy demeanor, it lacked the usual arrogance that made her seem untouchable. 0

"You... you..." I struggled to sit up but she pressed me back down and shook her head. "I'm fine now; I'm sorry about last night; it wasn't intentional." I shook my head; in that moment, I knew Mingyue had released her grip and regained control over herself—if not for that moment of restraint, I'd probably be dead by now! "Are you really okay?" Lying on the bed, I scrutinized Mingyue closely and noticed that aside from looking weak, she appeared normal otherwise—even her sharp teeth were gone. 0

"I'm really fine." For once she didn't respond coldly like usual; she answered again with determination. Seeing her confidence eased my worries somewhat. Just as I was about to ask what had happened and why she had acted that way, the door to the ward suddenly swung open. 0

Xiao Juan walked in and upon seeing me awake said somewhat irritably, "You're awake." I nodded in response but felt puzzled by Xiao Juan's tone—it seemed somewhat unfriendly. She approached me with a scowl and shot a fierce glare at Mingyue before saying disdainfully, "Shameless." 0

"Xiao Juan! Why are you speaking like that?" I asked in confusion. 0

"What? Did I say something wrong?" Xiao Juan retorted angrily. 0

I looked at Mingyue for clarification but she seemed unfazed and deliberately turned her gaze elsewhere instead of answering. 0

"Hmph! Do you feel embarrassed about what you did?" Xiao Juan pressed on relentlessly. 0

"What exactly is going on?" I demanded. 0

"What's going on?" Xiao Juan snorted derisively. "Don't tell me you don't know what she did last night?" 0

"What did she do?" My brows furrowed as I touched the thick bandage wrapped around my neck where pain still lingered—did Xiao Juan know about Mingyue suddenly going berserk and turning into a zombie? Even if she did know about it, she shouldn't react this way! But then Xiao Juan's next words left me stunned and awkwardly glancing at Mingyue beside me. 0

"She kissed you! When I went looking for you earlier, she was on top of you kissing you," Xiao Juan said while pointing at my neck where blood had soaked through the bandage. "And what's up with your neck? You're almost bleeding out—don't tell me she bit you too." 0

I looked at Mingyue while she avoided eye contact; feeling embarrassed left me speechless because yes—she did bite me—but how could it be true that she kissed me? That seemed impossible! She was so proud and aloof that it was hard to believe she'd do something like that—especially towards someone like me who was utterly ordinary! 0

"Don't believe it? Then ask her yourself," Xiao Juan said angrily while pointing at Mingyue with contempt. "Truly shameless." 0

Mingyue shot a cold glare back at Xiao Juan and warned sternly: "I advise you to stop while you're ahead; otherwise you'll only end up hurting yourself." Then she turned back to me with a decisive nod and said plainly: "Yes, last night I did kiss you." 0
