Feeling a bit lost and with a complicated heart, I dialed Gu Chen's number, but all I got was a busy signal. I tried Zhou Zhen's number next, but it was the same, which only deepened my sense of disappointment. Although I had taken Gu Chen as my master, we hadn't spent much time together, and the same went for Zhou Zhen. Yet they had done so much for me, and I couldn't even say goodbye. Putting my phone away, I walked out of Gu Chen's room in a daze, only to be met by Mingyue. Perhaps sensing something was off with me, she asked coldly, "What's wrong?" 0

I looked up at her and said, "Master and Uncle Zhou have left." 0

"Left?" She furrowed her brows slightly. 0

I nodded. "Yes, they left without saying goodbye." 0

After a brief silence, Mingyue asked, "How long ago did they leave?" 0

I hesitated for a moment before replying, "I saw him this morning; they must have just left." 0

"There's a place they might have gone. If you want to find them, follow me." With that, Mingyue turned and walked outside. I frowned slightly, unsure of where she meant. I called after her, "Aren't you going to tell Jin Zhongyun?" But all I received was her back as she ignored me. Feeling somewhat foolish, I followed her out of the hotel. 0

We took a taxi together, and when Mingyue mentioned a location, I looked at her in surprise and asked, "Are you taking me to the Mu Family?" She didn't explain but coldly replied, "Just come with me." With my brow furrowed in confusion, I had no choice but to comply. 0

Soon we arrived at the Mu Family's entrance. Mingyue instructed the driver to wait for a moment before opening the car door and leading me out. She knocked on the bright red door of the Mu Family directly. The person who opened the door was none other than Mingyue's grandfather—the old man. His expression didn't change much upon seeing Mingyue, but when his gaze fell on me, there was a noticeable glimmer in his murky eyes. I instinctively leaned back behind Mu Yan. 0

Seeing this, he chuckled and turned his gaze back to Mingyue. "You're back; that's quite strange." It was clear that Mingyue wasn't fond of this grandfather figure; however, she didn't show any signs of fear or wariness as she had before. Instead, she asked directly, "Did Gu Chen and Zhou Zhen come by?" 0

"They did come by but have already left," the old man replied with a chuckle, seemingly unconcerned. 0

Upon hearing this, Mingyue turned to me and said flatly, "They've already left." 0

"Left..." I paused for a moment before sighing and nodding; if they were gone, there was nothing more to be done. 0

"Let's go back," Mingyue said again in her indifferent tone before turning to get back into the car. I glanced back at the old man with some trepidation and quickly followed her inside before closing the door. 0

On the way back, curiosity got the better of me, so I asked, "Mingyue, how did you know Master and Uncle Zhou came here?" 0

"Because of my grandfather," she replied coldly. 0

"Your grandfather..." I paused in realization and guessed aloud, "You mean he's the one who seriously injured He Si?" 0

"At least he's a suspect," Mingyue glanced back at me. 0

I nodded; if that were true, then it made sense for Gu Chen to stop by here before leaving. However, as we spoke, I inadvertently looked up and met Mingyue's gaze. In an instant, I felt a jolt of fear wash over me as I exclaimed, "Mingyue! Your eyes..." 0

They were deadened and hollow—completely devoid of life. Her eyes appeared like those of a corpse—pitch black and void of any spark. Terrified, I instinctively leaned back. 0

My sudden shout startled the driver as well; he couldn't help but turn around and ask nervously, "Hey man, what's going on? Why are you so jumpy?" But just as he finished speaking and turned his gaze toward Mingyue sitting beside him, terror filled his eyes as he widened them in shock. 0

He let out an "ah!" before slamming on the steering wheel; the car swerved violently and crashed into a tree by the roadside before finally coming to a stop. 0

I shook violently from the impact as my head hit the front seat and dizziness washed over me. When I shook my head and looked up again, the driver had already flung open his door and was screaming as he ran away. 0

Now there were only Mingyue and me left in the car. We were in a remote area now; this stretch of road was desolate and dark outside—barely anyone came through here—creating an eerie silence around us. What was even more terrifying was that Mingyue was staring at me with an intense gaze. 0

Her eyes were strange—sometimes empty and lifeless while at other times revealing a greedy glint as she coldly fixed her stare on me. Under her gaze, it felt like being hunted. 0

"Ming... Mingyue... how did you become like this..." I stammered in disbelief as I looked at her pale-faced with trembling words. Yet she didn't respond; instead, she continued to look at me with that mix of greediness and emptiness. 0

Gradually—and horrifyingly—I noticed two sharp fangs extending from her mouth's corners. They protruded menacingly from her lips. 0

I could no longer sit still; panic surged through me as I kicked open the car door and screamed while bolting into the pitch-black night ahead. As I ran frantically away from her presence while shouting for help, all that echoed back to me was my own voice—no one else responded. 0

Soon enough though, I calmed down enough to stop running and began to hesitate about what had just happened. What had happened to Mingyue? Why had she suddenly changed like this? My mind raced with questions. Could I really just leave her here without checking on her? Given her current state—would something happen? 0

Thinking back on how she'd looked earlier filled me with dread and confusion; suddenly it struck me—her appearance reminded me of something terrifying I'd seen before: a zombie! Had Mingyue turned into a zombie? How could this be? My face paled in disbelief. 0

But after gritting my teeth in determination—I made up my mind: I couldn't just leave her behind like this! If something happened to her here without anyone knowing—what if someone knowledgeable about Maoshan Techniques came along? The thought sent chills down my spine. 0

With those thoughts racing through my mind—despite my fear—I turned around ready to go back for her. But just as I did so—a figure suddenly appeared before me like a ghost. 0

"Mingyue..." My voice caught in surprise as my eyes widened in shock; an instant later—a searing pain shot through my neck where she had bitten down hard! 0
