Mu Yan woke up, opening her eyes and looking directly at me. My heart stirred; I felt a mix of excitement and confusion as I stepped forward and bent down to help her up. But the moment my hand touched her skin, I froze slightly, my heart tightening. I couldn't help but glance at Zhou Zhen nearby and furrowed my brow, asking, "Uncle Zhou, why is she... why is she so cold?" There was no warmth at all; it felt just like when I had touched her corpse back at the Mu Family—cold as a dead person. 0

Zhou Zhen nodded and said calmly, "Not only is there no warmth, but there’s also no heartbeat or breath." 0

"What..." Zhou Zhen's words left me stunned again, disbelief etched on my face as I looked at him, then back at Mu Yan with wide eyes. No heartbeat, no breath, and no warmth—what exactly was she? A corpse? But if she were truly dead, how could she be awake right in front of me? A living person? That seemed impossible too; after all, what normal person would lack breath, a heartbeat, and warmth like her? I had no idea how to perceive this version of Mu Yan. 0

Zhou Zhen spoke again in a relaxed tone, "Her current condition is almost the same as yours used to be; you could call her a living corpse! However, there are some differences—she can also be referred to as a Walking Dead, a Walking Dead with a soul." 0

I looked up at Zhou Zhen and asked, "Uncle Zhou, what does that mean?" He shook his head and replied, "I’m not entirely sure either; I'm just following the methods taught by Senior Gu." He glanced at Mu Yan before continuing, "Although you had no heartbeat back then, you still had breath and your body temperature was normal. But she is different. When I say she can be called a Walking Dead, that’s not entirely accurate because true Walking Dead have no soul, while she does." 0

"So what exactly is she?" I asked. 0

"I don’t know," Zhou Zhen admitted with a shake of his head. Seeing my furrowed brow, he sighed and said, "Regardless of how it is, this situation is much better than before. At least the Mu Yan in front of you is a real person and not a ghost or a corpse." 0

I nodded reluctantly; deep down I felt somewhat speechless. No breath, no heartbeat, no warmth—wasn’t that just a corpse? Perhaps sensing my thoughts, Zhou Zhen said helplessly, "I know what you're thinking. But a real corpse wouldn’t have expressions. She has a soul now; that’s why she can express emotions like a normal person—she just lacks a heartbeat, body temperature, and breath." 0

He spoke all this in front of Mu Yan. Of course, she heard it all and suddenly turned my face toward her with her hand. Our eyes met as she stared at me and asked, "Do you dislike me?" 0

I quickly shook my head. To be honest, while I didn’t feel fear towards her anymore, it would take some time to adjust since she wasn’t an ordinary living person. So I hurriedly explained, "Mu Yan, don’t think too much about it. I just thought their method could bring you back to life but didn’t expect it to turn out like this." A hint of disappointment crossed my face as I spoke. 0

Mu Yan nodded and softened her tone: "It’s useless. Even though my soul remains after being dead for so long, my spirit has long dissipated. Without a complete soul and spirit, even miraculous methods can't bring me back to life. This state is actually quite good already." 0

"Yes, it’s already very good!" I thought about it and realized it was true. I looked down at her and asked, "Can you get up?" 0

Mu Yan blinked: "Of course." 0

"Then I'll help you up." Saying this, I reached out to assist her in standing up beside me. 0

"Uncle Zhou, thank you," I turned to Zhou Zhen gratefully. 0

Zhou Zhen shook his head and said, "If you want to thank someone, you should thank Senior Gu. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have been able to do this." 0

"Mm." I nodded lightly; I understood this point well enough as my gaze shifted toward the car where Gu Chen sat quietly watching us. 0

Zhou Zhen said casually: "Since she's awake now, let's go." Mu Yan and I exchanged glances and nodded again before helping Zhou Zhen gather the items he had placed earlier. We then got into the car. 0

I didn’t express any further gratitude to Gu Chen because I felt that saying more would be meaningless; he didn’t care about such things anyway. However, Mu Yan thanked Gu Chen sincerely and glanced at me before calling him Master in line with my title which made me feel slightly awkward. Clearly, Mu Yan had already regarded me as her man. 0

But I didn’t say much or explain anything further; after she finished speaking, she sat beside me. Gu Chen didn’t respond to her gratitude but merely nodded indifferently before turning to look at me from the front seat and asking: "Do you remember what I told you earlier?" 0

My brow furrowed deeply as I nodded: "I remember." 0

"Good," he replied without elaborating further before waving his hand toward Zhou Zhen: "Drive us back!" 0

"Understood." Zhou Zhen started the car and drove us back while my expression remained complex throughout the journey. I knew what Gu Chen meant by his words but had no idea how to act or what to say to Mu Yan. 0

Once we arrived at the hotel, the new Mu Yan surprised Xiao Juan immensely. Yet alongside her surprise was an evident sourness and displeasure that made her visibly unhappy. She even directly asked in front of everyone: "Lin Hao, are you going to be with her from now on?" 0

I frowned slightly as I looked between Mu Yan and Xiao Juan; unsure how to respond to such a question from her left me silent. But Mu Yan straightforwardly replied: "She is mine; I'm hers too—and I'm pregnant with his child! Of course we’re going to be together." 0

"Child?" Mu Yan's words seemed to make Xiao Juan even more displeased as she snapped back: "Who knows what kind of Demon Fetus you're carrying!" 0

"Xiao Juan! How can you talk like that?" Anger surged within me as I shot her an irritated glare. I glanced weakly at Gu Chen; after all, the child in Mu Yan's belly was currently taboo for him. With Xiao Juan saying such things now made me genuinely fear that Gu Chen might force me into something ruthless. 0

"Lin Hao! You're actually defending her," Xiao Juan exclaimed angrily when she saw my glare at her before storming off into her room. 0

I felt a headache coming on; it was frustrating that Mu Yan had just woken up yet was already at odds with Xiao Juan. That was just the beginning—the bigger headache was the child in her womb. 0

Seemingly unfazed by the earlier incident, Gu Chen looked over calmly and said: "Xiao Lin, come to my room for a moment; I have two things to give you." 0

Upon hearing this, I quickly nodded respectfully and followed him. To my surprise—and delight—what Gu Chen referred to were actually two additional volumes of Lark's Secret Record: Feng Shui Scroll and Demonology. 0
