The water in the lake was cold, and the moment I jumped in, I couldn't help but shiver, feeling goosebumps spread all over my body. 0

I turned to glance at Xiao Juan, who was still standing on the shore. I frowned slightly and called out, "Why aren't you coming in yet?" 0

Hearing me, she said she would be right there, then walked over and dipped a foot in to test the water before jumping in. 0

However, as soon as she hit the water, she let out a loud scream: "Ah, Lin Hao, I'm scared!" 0

I was instantly speechless. I thought back to when I had asked her if she could swim; she had said yes. Now, just after jumping in, she was already shouting. It had to be intentional. 0

So I ignored her and swam forward. Gu Chen and Zhou Zhen looked back at us but frowned slightly. 0

Zhou Zhen said, "Xiao Lin, this isn't good. She might really not know how to swim." 0

At that, I stopped, incredulous. "That can't be true." 0

Even though I said that, I turned around to look again, and this time it genuinely startled me. 0

Xiao Juan was not far from the shore, flailing around in the water but unable to swim away. She looked like she could sink at any moment. 0

"Go check on her," Gu Chen urged with a furrowed brow. 0

I nodded, not daring to hesitate. They had almost reached the opposite shore by now, and since I was closest to Xiao Juan, I swam over without hesitation. 0

When I reached her side, I grabbed her hand and used my legs to keep us both afloat on the water's surface. 0

At that moment, she was pale with fear, gripping my hand tightly as if it were a lifeline. 0

Her grip was so strong that I couldn't pull her away; instead, I felt all my strength draining away. Before long, I found myself gulping down a few mouthfuls of cold water because of her panic. 0

Seeing this unfold without needing me to shout for help, Gu Chen and Zhou Zhen put their things down on the shore and came back. 0

They helped drag Xiao Juan to safety on the other side while I finally managed to catch my breath without her pulling me down. Then I swam over slowly. 0

After crawling out of the water, I felt completely drained and collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath. 0

Xiao Juan was in worse shape, looking like a drenched chicken, sputtering out a few mouthfuls of water. Once she calmed down a bit, she looked at me with lingering fear and said, "Lin Hao, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" 0

This was the first time I had seen her take the initiative to apologize, and it was clear that she genuinely cared. 0

I was initially quite angry; if you can't swim, just admit it instead of pretending otherwise. It was really frustrating. 0

But seeing her like this made it hard for me to stay mad. I simply shook my head and replied, "I'm fine. I just swallowed a bit of water." 0

Gu Chen shot her a glare and said, "That was reckless." 0

Zhou Zhen chimed in with irritation, "Seriously, if you can't swim, just say so. Why do you have to be so stubborn?" 0

Xiao Juan immediately looked a bit embarrassed and muttered, "It’s just so embarrassing." 0

Hearing that, I couldn't help but feel speechless. 0

At that moment, we were sitting at the entrance of the cave. After resting for a few minutes and organizing our things, we noticed that Xiao Juan had recovered enough for Gu Chen to lead us further inside. 0

The cave felt deep but was relatively spacious, wide enough for ten people to walk side by side. 0

However, as we ventured deeper, the light from outside gradually faded into darkness. 0

I frowned and asked, "Master, this cave is really deep. What should we do if we can't see anything inside?" 0

Gu Chen turned his gaze to Zhou Zhen and called out to him. Zhou Zhen nodded in response and pulled out two flashlights from his supplies, handing one to me while keeping one for himself. 0

I breathed a sigh of relief. So Uncle Zhou had already prepared for this. 0

Zhou Zhen smiled and said, "Of course. Let's go." 0

I nodded without saying anything further and followed behind him and Xiao Juan as we continued deeper into the cave. 0

As we walked, Gu Chen suddenly said, "You two stay close to me and try to walk in the middle." 0

Hearing this, I frowned slightly, about to ask why, but the moment my flashlight illuminated the path ahead, I was taken aback. 0

Before us, the walls of the cave appeared to have been sliced open by a sharp instrument, creating a hollow groove in which lay a row of pitch-black coffins. 0

They were densely packed, stretching as far as the eye could see, sending chills down my spine and making my scalp tingle. 0

Xiao Juan, who was following closely behind me, clearly saw this scene as well and exclaimed in shock, "There can't be bodies in all those coffins! Who would place so many corpses here? It's terrifying." 0

Gu Chen remained silent, his brow slightly furrowed. Zhou Zhen was similarly quiet as we continued forward. 0

I swallowed hard and exchanged a glance with Xiao Juan. I could see a hint of fear on her face. We quickly moved closer together, tightly following Gu Chen. 0

Before long, we reached the coffins. Summoning my courage, I took a closer look. Each coffin had been affixed with runes—one on each. 0

The runes were meant to ward off evil; their presence on the coffins indicated they were intended to suppress whatever lay inside. 0

A terrifying thought suddenly crossed my mind: could the dead inside these coffins actually come back to life? 0

Wouldn't that be raising the dead? 0

But seeing Gu Chen's calm demeanor and Zhou Zhen's silence as he pressed on, I decided not to ask further questions. Xiao Juan seemed to feel the same way. 0

However, we had barely walked for a moment when strange sounds echoed through the cave. 0

Gu Chen stopped abruptly, listening intently. 0

Noticing this, we quickly halted as well, tension etched on our faces. Zhou Zhen furrowed his brow and asked, "Senior, what is that sound?" 0

After a few seconds of silence, the strange noise returned. Gu Chen scanned the coffins lining the cave walls and said solemnly, "It's coming from inside the coffins." 0

A voice emerged from the coffin, suggesting that the corpse inside had indeed come back to life. 0

It was about to come out. 0

"Don't be nervous," Gu Chen said calmly. "The corpse in this coffin has been kept here, away from the light of day, so it's definitely been tampered with. However, it’s clear that someone has already dealt with it." 0

As he spoke, he pointed to the runes inscribed on the coffin. 0

I felt a wave of relief wash over me and asked, "So does that mean they won't jump out?" 0

Gu Chen didn't answer directly, only saying, "Let's go." 0

We continued forward, but just a couple of steps later, two figures suddenly blocked our path. 0

I could see clearly that these two figures did not emerge from the coffins; instead, they came from above us. 0
