"What happened?"
Seeing my expression suddenly turn extremely grim, both Zhou Zhen, who was sitting to the side, and Gu Chen in front of me, as well as Mingyue, who leaned beside me with a cold demeanor, all furrowed their brows and looked at me with puzzled faces.
With a very serious expression, I said to Gu Chen, "It's Fourth Brother. He called."
"He Si."
Upon hearing this, Gu Chen slightly frowned and asked, "Is it about Mu Yan?"
After learning that it was He Si who called, Gu Chen probably thought something had happened to Mu Yan again, which was why my face suddenly looked so terrible.
Zhou Zhen directly inquired, "Xiao Lin, did something happen to Mu Yan again?"
I shook my head, still looking grim. "It's not Mu Yan."
"Not Mu Yan?"
My response left both Gu Chen and Zhou Zhen stunned. They looked at me with furrowed brows and asked, "If it's not Mu Yan, then who is it?"
I quickly replied, "It's Fourth Brother. He's in trouble; he called me for help."
"What? Xiao Si is in trouble? What happened?" Gu Chen's expression changed instantly.
Zhou Zhen's face also turned extremely grim. He had seen He Si's capabilities before, but now he was calling for help; it was certain that he was in some kind of danger.
Facing their gazes, I shook my head and said, "I don't know. He only said two words on the phone: 'Save me,' and then the call ended."
"Give me the phone," Gu Chen said directly, his expression darkening as he reached out his hand.
Without hesitation, I quickly handed him the phone. After taking it, Gu Chen immediately searched for He Si's number and dialed again.
"Hello, the number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
A busy tone echoed through the phone, and Gu Chen's face instantly darkened, becoming grim.
"Anfu, hurry up and find a place to check Xiao Si's number," Gu Chen said lightly, narrowing his eyes as he spoke to Anfu beside him. He then handed the phone back to me.
I took the phone without saying a word, but I could tell that although Gu Chen appeared calm on the surface, he was actually starting to worry inside.
He Si's abilities were evident from when he introduced us; he was comparable to anyone from Taoist Nine Meridians. It was hard to imagine how weak he could be.
Yet now He Si was calling for help, which indicated just how much danger he was in.
Seeing Gu Chen frowning deeply with a somber expression, Zhou Zhen tried to comfort him, saying, "Senior Gu, don't worry too much. With He Si's skills, even if something has happened, it shouldn't be anything serious."
Gu Chen nodded slightly, but his gloomy expression showed no signs of easing.
Mingyue sat between Zhou Zhen and me, still wearing her cold demeanor. Aside from her initial confusion, she showed little emotional fluctuation now, appearing indifferent as if this matter had nothing to do with her.
Anfu drove swiftly, and soon the car arrived at the mobile company’s office, where Gu Chen turned to me and said calmly, “Go check where Xiao Si's number was called from.”
At first, I was a bit puzzled about why Anfu had stopped here.
But upon hearing Gu Chen's words, it suddenly clicked. I couldn't help but glance at Anfu; this fellow might not say much, but he was like a parasite in Gu Chen's mind.
Gu Chen merely asked him to speed up, and he had already guessed that we were here to trace a phone number. It was impressive.
I didn’t waste any time. I opened the car door, grabbed my phone, and dashed inside the mobile company to ask customer service for help in tracing He Si's call origin. It didn’t take long before they found out that his number was linked to Chengdu.
Chengdu? What was He Si doing there?
Could it be that the place Gu Chen mentioned was indeed Chengdu? Was Mu Yan there too?
With these questions swirling in my mind, I asked customer service for a printout of the information, then returned to the car and handed the slip to Gu Chen.
He glanced at it, frowned slightly, then turned to Mingyue sitting in the back and said, “We need to make a trip to Chengdu. Mingyue, you might as well get off here.”
“Chengdu?” Mingyue seemed to frown slightly.
Gu Chen nodded. “Yes, we have some urgent business there.”
Mingyue replied, “That works out perfectly; I need to go to Chengdu as well. It’s on my way, so I won’t get off.”
"What are you going to Chengdu for?" I frowned slightly.
Not only was I puzzled, but even Gu Chen and Zhou Zhen looked at her with surprise.
Mingyue, however, seemed unfazed. "I happen to live in Chengdu. Are you saying you wouldn't want to take me along?"
Upon hearing this, Gu Chen said nothing, and Zhou Zhen remained silent as well. I couldn't help but feel a bit suspicious; this seemed too coincidental.
Instinctively, I sensed that Mingyue must have some ulterior motive. Especially during the drive, she appeared to be staring straight ahead, but I had the feeling she was occasionally glancing at me, whether intentionally or not.
However, since Gu Chen and the others did not object, I had no choice but to remain silent. Then Anfu turned the car around and headed onto the highway towards Chengdu.
After a full day and night of driving without stopping, Zhou Zhen and Anfu took turns at the wheel and finally arrived in Chengdu. But now that we were here, we faced a huge dilemma: amidst the vast sea of people, although we knew He Si was likely in Chengdu, we had no idea where to start looking.
This was a significant challenge.
Initially, Gu Chen used his flying crane technique to ask for directions, but due to the distance, he couldn't pinpoint He Si's exact location.
Then he tried divination with the Bagua method. After a long time, he managed to determine a general direction and location, but after searching for a while in the crowd, we still couldn't find any trace of He Si.
Finally, he sighed and said it seemed we could only seek out Grandma Jiang.
His words left both Zhou Zhen and me puzzled. We asked, "Can Grandma Jiang really find He Si? But she's in Jintan; she's not even here!"
Gu Chen calmly said, "Grandma Jiang has the Gu, and the Gu Worm has a keen sense of smell. Perhaps it can locate He Si. As for her being in Jintan, we can just have her come over."
In the end, he contacted Grandma Jiang and provided her with the address. Grandma Jiang agreed to come, and all they had to do now was wait for her arrival.
Then Gu Chen suggested, "Everyone has been tired these past few days. Let's find a place to rest properly."
He instructed Anfu to drive them to a hotel that was decent enough. As for Mingyue, after arriving in Chengdu, she got out of the car and left without anyone noticing their hunger.
The next morning, Anfu went out to pick someone up. I thought he was going to get Grandma Jiang, but when he returned to the hotel, he brought back Yao Juan instead.
As soon as I saw her, I felt a headache coming on. When I left Jintan, I had been worried about her following me, so I had almost sneaked away with Zhou Zhen. Now, it turned out that while they said Grandma Jiang was coming, she wasn't here; instead, Yao Juan was.
Sure enough, as soon as this girl saw me, she stormed over angrily and shouted, "Hey Lin! What’s up with you? You didn’t even say goodbye when you left! Just wait until I settle the score with you today!"
I was about to defend myself when I glanced behind Xiao Juan and suddenly changed my expression. I rushed forward and pulled Xiao Juan back while shouting, "Get out of the way!"
Youling Wuying and Xuan the Little Rabbit, I hope you two know when to stop.
