Zhou Zhen did not answer my difficult question; he merely smiled ambiguously and then fell silent. 0

It was the Dark-skinned Man driving in front of us who, upon hearing our conversation, couldn't help but interject, "Since you are friends of Master Gu, you must understand the Mao Shan Technique, right?" 0

I quickly replied, "You know him too?" 0

The Dark-skinned Man shook his head while driving and laughed, "How could I possibly know him? It was our Boss who pulled some strings to invite Master Gu." 0

I pressed on, "What did your Boss invite him for?" 0

"Uh, you don't know?" The Dark-skinned Man seemed a bit surprised at my ignorance. 0

I shook my head and said, "If I knew, why would I ask you?" 0

"Oh." 0

The Dark-skinned Man nodded and then continued, "Actually, I'm not too clear on the details either. But if we talk about it, it's quite strange and scary, which is why our Boss asked Master Gu for help." 0

"In what way is it strange?" 0

At that moment, I was intrigued by the Dark-skinned Man's words. I felt a bit scared to know but was eager to find out, so I quickly asked. 0

He paused for a moment before saying, "Have you ever seen someone cry?" 0

I immediately retorted, "Isn't that a pointless question? Who hasn't seen someone cry?" 0

The Dark-skinned Man wasn't offended; he continued, "But what if a grown man suddenly starts crying for no reason just as the sun is about to set? Don't you think that's very strange?" 0

His words made me furrow my brow slightly, and even Zhou Zhen looked puzzled. 0

Why would a grown man cry for no reason? 0

Moreover, the Dark-skinned Man specifically emphasized that he only started crying when the sun was about to set. 0

I tried to say, "Does this person have some kind of illness or mental disorder?" 0

The Dark-skinned Man shook his head while driving and replied, "No, he was fine before. He even worked with us. He only started crying the day before yesterday, and what's most frightening is..." 0

At this point, the Dark-skinned Man turned back to glance at me and then shook his head, saying, "Forget it. If I tell you, it will scare you." 0

His words piqued my curiosity, but just when it got to the crucial part, he decided not to continue. 0

I rolled my eyes in exasperation and said, "Go ahead and tell me. I've seen enough ghosts lately; I'm not afraid of a couple more." 0

Upon hearing this, he instantly turned his head back with curiosity and asked, "Are there really ghosts in this world?" 0

His sudden turn startled me, and Zhou Zhen couldn't help but shout, "Focus! You're driving!" 0

He awkwardly chuckled and said, "It's fine. I've been driving for years; I'm skilled." 0

Still, he was very curious and asked, "So are there really ghosts or not?" 0

Zhou Zhen laughed and replied, "If you believe there are, then there are. If you don't believe it, then there aren't. If you say there are no ghosts, then there are none." 0

I was a bit speechless; what Zhou Zhen said sounded like nonsense. 0

Even the Dark-skinned Man rolled his eyes in disbelief and said, "Well, if you won't tell me, then I won't say anything either." 0

"Come on, man, you're putting conditions on this?" I replied, feeling exasperated. 0

He chuckled and said, "Then tell me, is there really a ghost?" 0

I replied curtly, "Of course there is." 0

Upon hearing this, the Dark-skinned Man paused for a moment, then muttered to himself, "So does that mean he encountered something supernatural?" 0

I urged him, "Then you should explain what exactly happened so we can analyze it together." 0

As I spoke, I pointed to Zhou Zhen sitting next to me and said, "This guy here—did you notice? He’s also an expert in Mao Shan Technique." 0

"You really know Mao Shan Technique?" the Dark-skinned Man asked excitedly. 0

Zhou Zhen shot me a glance and replied, "Expertise has nothing to do with me; I only know a little bit." 0

The Dark-skinned Man didn’t care about that. Upon hearing that Zhou Zhen was familiar with Mausoleum Taoism, he quickly said, "Do you know that when that person cried, what came out of his eyes wasn't tears?" 0

His words made me furrow my brow slightly. Zhou Zhen asked curiously, "If it's not tears, then what is it?" 0

"It's blood—bright red blood," the Dark-skinned Man stated calmly. 0

Upon hearing this, I couldn't help but gasp in shock. How could tears flowing from someone's eyes be blood instead? 0

It seemed that our astonishment was not enough, as the Dark-skinned Man continued, "You have no idea. The sight is terrifying; he has been crying for several days now, and the blood is almost dried up. He looks so emaciated that he hardly resembles a human anymore, his face as pale as that of a corpse." 0

He paused slightly, shaking his head as he added, "If this continues, I doubt he will last much longer." 0

Furrowing my brows, I turned to Zhou Zhen and asked, "Uncle Zhou, does what he said mean that the person has encountered a ghost?" 0

Zhou Zhen also frowned slightly before shaking his head and replying, "I don't know if it's a ghost, but if what he says is true, it definitely has something to do with those evil entities." 0

Then Zhou Zhen looked at the Dark-skinned Man and inquired, "What about Senior Gu?" 0

"Senior Gu?" the Dark-skinned Man replied. "He hasn't arrived yet." 0

"Not here yet?" I felt utterly speechless. 0

The Dark-skinned Man continued, "Yeah, he should be arriving tomorrow morning." 0

I asked, "Then why did you say he sent you to pick me up?" 0

He chuckled and explained, "He called our boss and said there were two friends who arrived early and asked me to go to the county town to pick you up. So here I am." 0

With a sigh, he added, "Ah, such a long journey; driving is really exhausting. Who knows, when Master Gu arrives tomorrow, I might have to make another trip." 0

I looked at Zhou Zhen in disbelief and said, "Didn't you say he was the one who asked us to come? Why is he still not here?" 0

Zhou Zhen shrugged his shoulders, looking helpless. "You ask me, who should I ask? Grandma Jiang just called me and said to come here to find him. She didn't tell me he wasn't here yet." 0

I pointed at the Dark-skinned Man and said, "Isn't he the one you called Gu Chen to pick us up?" 0

"What are you talking about? Gu Chen is the person you’re supposed to call Master in the future; that’s quite rude," Zhou Zhen replied irritably. "I called Grandma Jiang. I can't get in touch with Senior Gu either. I guess Grandma Jiang contacted Senior Gu afterward and had him come pick us up." 0

"Fine." 0

I shook my head in exasperation. 0

During our journey, the Dark-skinned Man asked us many questions about ghosts and monsters, and through our conversation, I learned his name, which was quite crude. 0

He said everyone called him Heizi, which was fitting since he was indeed very dark-skinned. 0

After several more hours of bumpy travel, we finally reached our destination. 0

However, upon arrival, I was left speechless. The remoteness of this place was truly overwhelming; it would take at least ten minutes by car to reach the nearest village, and walking would probably take nearly an hour. 0

By this time, it was completely dark. Aside from the lights in front of us, everything else around was pitch black. The surroundings were either overgrown with weeds or barren rocks of various sizes. 0

As for where we would be staying, it was a simple structure made of wooden boards and plastic sheets nailed together, resembling a makeshift factory building on a construction site. 0

This was nothing short of a punishment in the wilderness; I felt utterly speechless. 0

Seeing the expression on my face, Heizi said somewhat awkwardly, "The conditions are a bit lacking, but there's nothing we can do. You two will just have to make do until Master Gu arrives to resolve the issue. By then, you'll be leaving." 0

I nodded; since we were already here, there was no other choice. 0

At that moment, Zhou Zhen spoke up, "By the way, where is that person you mentioned? Can you take us to see him first?" 0

"He?" Heizi replied. "Sure, I'll take you to meet my boss first. They've already prepared the meal, and after we eat, I'll take you over." 0

Uncle Zhou nodded in agreement. "That sounds good." 0

Heizi's boss was named Chen Sheng, a man in his thirties. During our meal and conversation, I learned that they were not locals but had come here to mine for ore. 0

However, just a few days into their mining operation, they encountered such a situation. Chen Sheng was no ordinary person; he had experienced some strange occurrences before, which naturally led him to consider certain possibilities. 0

Thus, he reached out through connections to Gu Chen, and that was how we ended up here. 0

After finishing our meal, following Zhou Zhen's suggestion, Chen Sheng and Heizi personally led Uncle Zhou and me to a house. 0

The lights were still on inside the house, and two men were sitting at the entrance chatting; it seemed they were assigned by Chen Sheng to keep watch. 0

Chen Sheng pointed at the house and said, "He's inside. Just in case something happens to me, I had these two stay here to keep an eye on things." 0

Uncle Zhou and I nodded in understanding. Then Chen Sheng instructed Heizi to go ahead and open the door. 0

As soon as the door swung open, a strong smell of blood rushed out, causing both Uncle Zhou and me to frown slightly. 0

“Master Zhou, do you want to go in?” 0

Seeing that both Zhou Zhen and I were frowning, Heizi pinched his nose and asked cautiously. 0

Uncle Zhou nodded and then walked directly inside. Although the smell wafting out from the room was pungent, my curiosity got the better of me, and I followed him in. 0

However, the moment I stepped inside, the sight before me made me completely collapse. 0

I rushed out of the house and vomited everything I had just eaten with a loud "wow." 0

With a face full of terror, I vowed never to witness that scene again. 0

It was terrifying, disgusting, bizarre. 0

What on earth was that scene? 0
