I looked at her in sheer terror. Her pale, flawless face appeared as if it had been dusted with powder, ghostly white like paper, and her gaze was icy.
After my scream, I quickly covered my mouth again.
In the living room outside, they must have been terrified by my shout.
Then I heard Dapeng grumbling outside, "What the hell, Lin Hao? Why are you screaming like that in the middle of the night? Are you trying to scare us?"
As Dapeng walked in while complaining, he froze when he saw me and the female ghost in the red cheongsam standing at the bathroom door. His expression turned sour instantly.
With a hint of irritation, he said, "Lin Hao, what are you two doing in there?"
I didn’t respond; I was too stunned, staring at the female ghost in the red cheongsam. She stood there quietly, coldly gazing back at me as I gasped for breath.
Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself down as much as possible.
I realized that this female ghost in the red cheongsam had likely noticed that I had discovered her presence. Perhaps what had just happened in the bathroom was her doing.
Suddenly, another possibility struck me.
Earlier, when we were singing, this female ghost had asked for an extra drink, saying that she had a friend coming over.
But throughout the entire time until we finished, her friend never showed up.
A terrifying thought suddenly crossed my mind: perhaps her friend hadn’t come because they were already sitting beside us, invisible to our eyes.
Maybe that ghost was still in this room right now and had heard everything we just said outside.
It was even possible that the ghost had just been with me in the bathroom.
The more I thought about it, the more fear gripped me. My legs felt weak; it was as if all my strength had been drained away, leaving me trembling on my feet.
I wanted to scream, but I didn't dare; knowing full well that the person standing in front of me was a ghost, yet still forcing myself to act calm—this feeling was something I thought only I could truly understand.
But Zhou Zhen had said to buy some time and wait for him to arrive before making any decisions.
So at this moment, I dared neither to scream nor to run away.
Given the current situation, I certainly couldn't tell Dapeng that the beautiful girl standing in front of him was actually a ghost, nor could I reveal that there might be another ghost hidden in this room.
I gently closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and then opened them again, looking at the ghost in the red cheongsam. I quickly smiled and said, "How did you suddenly end up standing at the bathroom door? Were you eager to go in? You scared me!"
After saying that, I ignored her and turned my gaze directly to Dapeng, smiling as I said, "What are you thinking? I just came out of the bathroom and happened to bump into her. Isn't she also eager to go in?"
Dapeng looked at the girl in the red cheongsam with skepticism and asked, "Huan Huan, are you really in a hurry to use the bathroom?"
I wore a smile on my face, appearing calm on the surface while my heart was in turmoil as I quietly awaited the response from the red qipao ghost.
To my surprise, she didn't say anything but gently nodded at Dapeng before actually walking into the bathroom.
"She really is going," Dapeng muttered in disbelief.
I quickly chimed in, "Come on, let's go play some cards. What are you doing just sitting here?"
"Whatever, you guys go have fun," Dapeng replied with an unhappy expression.
I pulled his hand and said, "Come on, brothers, isn't it all about having fun together?"
Seeing me tugging tightly, Dapeng quickly leaned in close and whispered, "Dude, Lin Hao, can you not mess around? Time is precious; it's almost dawn. With such a perfect girl here, don't ruin it for me."
I gritted my teeth in frustration, wishing I could give Dapeng a good beating right then and there.
I was determined to drag him out, but he stubbornly insisted on staying.
In a fit of anger, I shouted, "Dapeng, if you don't come out now—"
However, my words were abruptly cut off.
Suddenly, a cold breeze swept past me, making me instinctively shrink my neck; it felt chilling on my back.
In that moment, I had the eerie sensation that someone was standing right next to me.
Yet in reality, there was no one beside me except for Dapeng standing across from me.
But the feeling was intense, as if someone truly was at my side. The cold wind just now felt particularly strange.
So the words I almost blurted out were instantly swallowed back.
Noticing my sudden change in expression and how I had gone silent mid-sentence, Dapeng furrowed his brow slightly and reached out to touch my forehead. "Lin Hao, what's wrong with you? Are you okay? Why is your forehead so cold?"
I glanced at Dapeng, my expression complicated. I didn't respond to his words; my heart felt like it was lodged in my throat, as if it might leap out at any moment.
I was certain that, aside from the female ghost in the Red Cheongsam, another spirit was definitely in this room.
And it was likely standing right beside me.
It was just that neither Dapeng nor I could see it.
"Lin Hao, what's wrong with you? I'm asking you a question!"
Dapeng furrowed his brows tightly, and when I remained silent, he kept pressing for an answer.
I was on the verge of breaking down; the icy sensation seemed to intensify.
Gradually, it felt as if a cold hand had settled on my shoulder, the chill overwhelming me.
Even Dapeng seemed to sense the coldness now, muttering, "Why does it suddenly feel so cold?"
At that moment, I nearly cursed Zhou Zhen for not showing up yet.
Though I stood there, my body trembled violently, and I could no longer control myself. I grabbed Dapeng and shouted, "Run!"
"Hey, Lin Hao, what are you doing?" Dapeng exclaimed, confused. He was being dragged toward the living room by me while trying to break free.
At that moment, I didn't have time to explain anything to him. I quickly dragged him to the door of Le'er's room, but just as we reached the entrance, I froze in terror.
We were just a step away from entering the living room when I suddenly stopped, my face filled with fear as I stared ahead.
A female ghost in a Red Cheongsam appeared eerily at the door, blocking our path.
Dapeng, who had been focused on trying to pry my hand away, looked up in surprise when I abruptly halted. He followed my gaze and saw the ghostly figure standing before us.
Instantly, Dapeng's brows furrowed tightly as he stared at the woman in the Red Cheongsam, astonished. "You... you weren't in the bathroom? How did you end up here?"
