I remember that night, around midnight, when I got up to use the bathroom. As I stepped out, still groggy, I saw a shadow swiftly leap in from outside the wall. It moved with incredible agility and speed. By the time I realized what was happening and prepared to scream, the shadow had already vanished from my sight. 0

What puzzled me was that the direction in which the shadow disappeared happened to be towards Yang Yi's place. 0

Suddenly, my sleepiness faded away. I wasn't sure what compelled me, but I found myself stealthily following it. 0

Before long, I cautiously arrived at Yang Yi's residence. I stood behind a wall not far away and happened to witness the moment when Yang Yi's door closed. 0

I furrowed my brow slightly. Did that shadow enter Yang Yi's room, or had Yang Yi just stepped out and closed the door behind him? 0

But it was the middle of the night. If that shadow was indeed Yang Yi, I was curious about what he could possibly be doing out at this hour. 0

Was he going to the bathroom like me? 0

That seemed impossible since the bathrooms at Upper Clear Academy were communal; neither Yang Yi nor Mao Guoxue had private bathrooms in their residences. 0

Unable to make sense of it all, I decided to put it aside and went back to sleep. 0

The next day, Yang Yi, Mao Guoxue, Grandma Jiang, Uncle Zhou, and even Mao Shiba went out again to continue searching for the Mysterious Man in Black. 0

Only Xiao Juan stayed behind. I didn't tell anyone about what happened last night, not even Uncle Zhou or Xiao Juan. 0

However, after dinner that evening, while Xiao Juan was pulling me outside, I quietly told her to be good and return to the dormitory to sleep. I asked her to come find me after ten o'clock when everyone else was asleep. 0

Upon hearing this, Xiao Juan immediately giggled. Her little face flushed as she bit her lip and said, "You're so bad! Asking someone out in the middle of the night!" 0

I was momentarily speechless, knowing that Xiao Juan must have misunderstood the situation. However, I didn't bother to explain further and urged her to go back and rest for a while. 0

Only then did she run off cheerfully. 0

I then greeted Zhou Zhen and the others, mentioning that I was feeling a bit sleepy. Since there wasn't much for me to do, they let me head back to bed early. 0

Lying on my bed, I certainly didn't fall asleep right away. As it neared ten-thirty and Xiao Juan still hadn't arrived, I began to feel anxious. I got dressed and went to the door to take a look. 0

Seeing no sign of Xiao Juan, I turned to close the door when suddenly a hand grabbed me from behind. 0

I was startled and instinctively wanted to scream, but quickly felt a hand cover my mouth. It was Xiao Juan's voice that followed, saying, "It's me." 0

Hearing her voice, I finally relaxed and turned around, saying irritably, "Can't you walk without making a sound?" 0

Xiao Juan wasn't offended; she smiled and said, "Look at you being so jumpy. I just wanted to give you a surprise." 0

Not wanting to dwell on that topic any longer, I asked her if anyone saw her when she came over. 0

She said no and then blinked her sparkling big eyes at me, asking what I wanted so late at night—was I up to no good? 0

I was momentarily speechless again and quickly said, "Just come with me; I'm taking you somewhere." 0

Xiao Juan frowned slightly and asked where we were going. I replied that she'd find out once we got there. Then I gently closed the door and carefully led her towards Yang Yi's place. 0

Next to Yang Yi's residence was a flowerbed in a green area that provided some concealment. I pulled Xiao Juan into hiding there. 0

Xiao Juan immediately frowned, looking reluctant as she muttered, "Lin Hao, what do you want? I'm not that easygoing." 0

I was taken aback by her words, thinking to myself that she probably wished I would do something. 0

Of course, I only thought this in my mind and would never say it out loud. I quickly covered her mouth, signaling her to crouch down and hide. 0

Though she seemed somewhat unwilling, she still crouched down with me and then quietly asked, "Lin Hao, why did you bring me here? What are we doing?" 0

"Shh." 0

I quickly made a gesture for silence and leaned closer to her ear, whispering, "I suspect Yang Yi is up to something, so I brought you here to take a look." 0

"Yang Teacher is up to something?" Xiao Juan looked at me in surprise. 0

I nodded, not offering further explanation, simply saying, "We'll find out if we wait here." 0

Xiao Juan was skeptical but fell silent nonetheless. 0

There was no light coming from Yang Yi's room, and it was very quiet; perhaps he had already gone to sleep. 0

Xiao Juan and I crouched among the flowering bushes. After a while of waiting, we decided to sit down and take it easy. 0

Around eleven o'clock, Xiao Juan began to grow impatient when suddenly the door to Yang Yi's room swung open. 0

I perked up instantly and looked over; Xiao Juan also quieted down and turned her gaze in that direction. 0

A figure cloaked in black emerged from the room, peering left and right before swiftly darting out. After gently closing the door behind them, they ran off into the distance. 0

With a graceful stride, they leaped over the wall and vanished in an instant. 0

I stood there, momentarily stunned. 0

A black cloak—wasn't that the Mysterious Man in Black? 0

For days, Zhou Zhen, Mao Guoxue, and Grandma Jiang had been searching for the Zombie transformed by the Cloud Ghost General, as well as the elusive Mysterious Man in Black. Even Yang Yi was involved in the hunt. 0

Yet now, a figure dressed in black had just burst out from Yang Yi's room. 0

Could it be that Yang Yi was the Mysterious Man in Black? 0

When I chased that shadow to Yang Yi's residence yesterday, I had already harbored some suspicions, but they were merely doubts at that time. 0

Now, witnessing it firsthand left no room for denial. 0

Xiao Juan was not foolish; upon seeing the cloaked figure rush out of Yang Yi's room, her brows furrowed instantly. 0

Watching the direction in which the figure disappeared, she murmured to herself, "The black-clad figure... the Mysterious Man in Black." 0

Then, as if struck by a thought, she turned to me with a look of shock and disbelief. "You... you suspect that Yang Teacher is the Mysterious Man in Black?" 0

My expression darkened slightly, but I nodded in acknowledgment. What I had seen could not be mistaken. 0

However, Xiao Juan shook her head in disbelief. I understood that even though she had also witnessed the figure emerge from Yang Yi's room, she found it hard to accept at that moment. 0

I too was reluctant to believe it; this was a harsh reality. 0

The only way to verify the situation was to go to Yang Yi's room and see if he was still there. 0

It was clear that Xiao Juan and I were thinking the same thing. We exchanged a glance and then stepped out from behind the flowering bushes, arriving at Yang Yi's door. Xiao Juan gently knocked on the door first. 0

After a brief pause, there was no response from inside. 0

At that moment, Xiao Juan's expression grew even more troubled, and I was almost certain that Yang Yi was not in his room, as the person in the black robe we had just seen was likely him. 0

Gently opening the door, Xiao Juan called out, "Yang Teacher." 0

Still, there was no answer. She walked over to the switch and turned on the light. The room was empty; the bed was neatly made, and there was no one inside. Yang Yi was indeed not in his room. 0
