Before them stood a sturdy Territory Castle, its only entrance located halfway up the mountain. To the south and west, twenty-meter-high walls loomed, while to the east and northwest, sheer cliffs rose over a hundred meters high.
Inside the castle were a hundred NPC-Type Monsters, including one lord, a level 60 Dark Gold BOSS, and four leaders, each a level 55 Silver BOSS. Among the remaining monsters were thirty elite reinforcements.
The castle was built on the mountainside, making it easy to defend but difficult to attack. With only fourteen of them against a hundred monsters, including a level 60 Dark Gold BOSS, the disparity in strength was evident.
"This is going to be a tough battle!" they all sighed. Clearly, facing a hundred monsters was already daunting enough, especially with such fortified defenses. It seemed unrealistic for just fourteen of them to take down the Territory Castle; it felt more like an unethical fantasy.
However...
"Let's hear your thoughts!" Yi Tianchen said as he leaned on his sword, gazing at the enemy's Territory Castle under the moonlight, which was cloaked in silver frost. Flames flickered in the watchtower, and everything appeared so tranquil.
"Given the current situation, attacking from the front seems nearly impossible," Yesterday's Fireworks pondered, letting out a helpless sigh. "To put it bluntly, are we being a bit too hasty? In this Siege Battle, we really need more numbers!"
"What good does it do to say that now?" Proud Dragon scoffed, his calm gaze flickering with intensity. He chuckled, "No matter what we do—whether we wait or attack—time is slipping away second by second. My suggestion is to charge in and see what happens; hope often appears during action!"
"Haha... I’ve realized since I met you that this is the first thing you’ve said that sounds like human speech!" One Hand Rides the Sky chimed in with laughter but quickly received a fierce glare.
"Tianchen, what about you? Any thoughts?" Liu Yuhan asked.
Yi Tianchen smiled lightly, appearing quite composed as he stated firmly, "The Guild advancement mission has the same rules as Guild Wars; each person has three chances to respawn. This means our fourteen members effectively have fifty-two lives."
"And then what?"
"In terms of siege warfare," he continued, "I agree with Fireworks; this castle is practically impregnable for us. All advantages lie with the enemy. Therefore, if we want to win, we must take an unconventional approach and strike when they least expect it."
"Well, go on..."
"Did everyone see that? This castle has only one entrance. In other words, most of the enemy's forces must be concentrated at this entrance or not far from it, while to the east and northwest of the castle, there are cliffs..."
"This means that the area from the east to the northwest is where the enemy is weakest, perhaps even completely unguarded, because right below is a hundred-meter-high cliff. Analyzing this under normal circumstances, no one would dare to make a move on such a cliff."
"Wait! Fallen Wood Boss, you’re not thinking of climbing up that cliff, are you?" The Terminator of Regrets exclaimed in disbelief, "That cliff is a hundred meters high! Without any climbing gear, that's probably impossible!"
"Why is it impossible?"
Yi Tianchen smiled slightly and said earnestly, "The current situation is already very clear. The System has given us little time left, and the possibility of a frontal assault is almost zero. Why can't we choose to climb the cliff and directly infiltrate the enemy's territory?"
"This plan might actually work!"
Liu Yuhan stepped forward, her eyes sparkling with trust in everyone as she continued, "We can split into two teams. The ranged classes can gather at the main gate to attract the enemy's attention while the second team climbs up. Once inside their territory, we head straight for the Territory Sculpture."
"Ha... exactly!"
Hero Does Not Question Origin said excitedly, "The System only determines victory based on whether we destroy the enemy's Territory Sculpture, so our goal is just that—Territory Sculpture. As for those minor monsters and bosses, we really don’t need to worry about them; they’re just a smokescreen!"
"Alright! I’m in!" Yesterday's Fireworks smiled, though with a hint of bitterness.
With someone taking the lead, others nodded in agreement. Given that there were no better options available at the moment, this plan, though risky and difficult, was indeed a viable one.
Next came the regrouping of members. Liu Yuhan, Mu Wanqing, Proud Dragon, Yesterday's Fireworks, and Far Apart formed the first team with Liu Yuhan as the captain; Yi Tianchen and the remaining members made up the second team with Yi Tianchen as their leader.
The operation quickly commenced. Liu Yuhan led her team directly toward the main gate of the enemy's territory, creating a grand show of siege to attract the attention of enemies within. These NPC monsters generated by the System may have human forms but were ultimately products of virtual intelligence and could easily be deceived.
On another front, Yi Tianchen led his group around the base of the mountain to approach from the north side. Looking up, he saw that the sheer rock face was nearly vertical to the ground; however, here and there along this steep wall grew some wild shrubs from crevices.
"Ha, it seems that the heavens are truly on my side!"
One Hand Rides the Sky couldn't help but show a hint of joy as he sheathed his spear and tested the nearest thicket path. "It should be fine; it can definitely support our weight."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go."
The Terminator of Regrets declared with authority, swiftly sheathing his dagger. In a sudden burst of movement, he pushed off the stone wall with his right foot, quickly grabbing hold of a small tree trunk about the size of his arm. He began to climb upward, switching hands like Spider-Man as he ascended.
With The Terminator of Regrets leading the way, the subsequent progress became much smoother. Everyone simply needed to follow the path he had taken. As they climbed higher, the thickets became denser. Although this posed some obstacles, the benefits outweighed the drawbacks.
Behold, at the forefront, The Terminator of Regrets moved with incredible speed. After creating some distance, he decided to sit on a protruding branch of a thicket, bathing in the bright moonlight. He felt utterly relaxed and turned back with a grin, saying, "Ha... you all are so slow!"
"Damn it!"
Not a Master glared with wide eyes. Gripping a branch with his left hand, he extended his right hand and drew several circles on the rock wall in one breath, muttering, "God! Please strike that tree down with lightning!"
