It was clearly a difficult question to answer, yet one worth pondering.
According to the official game introduction, the PVP Area is a place where opposing factions can engage in combat training. Death incurs no penalties, but there has been no formal statement confirming that the PVP Area is devoid of monsters.
So, could there be monsters in the PVP Area?
From their experiences thus far, it seemed that Grave Mound Mountain indeed had no monsters. However, Lin Yan's concern was whether hidden monsters existed.
"That's hard to say. The game hasn't made any statements; they neither confirm nor deny the presence of monsters. I guess we'll have to find out for ourselves," Liu Yuhan mused, scanning the surroundings for a moment before adding, "Regardless of whether they exist or not, let's let our actions provide the answer!"
The four continued onward. Since it was their first time entering Grave Mound Mountain, everyone moved cautiously. As the sun began to set, tall trees obscured the light, and the surroundings gradually darkened. At least they didn't have to worry about ambushes from opposing players.
Thanks to the game's automatic red name system, in the dim light, they appeared like bright red lanterns, easily distinguishable from a distance. As long as one wasn't severely colorblind, identifying friend from foe shouldn't be too much of a problem.
At this moment, Liu Yuhan's idea came into play again.
She gathered some soft vines and wove them into headbands. Then she inserted small branches with tender leaves on top and added a few flowers for decoration. A beautiful Vine Ring was completed—simple yet elegant and very practical.
"Wow... this thing really can conceal red names!" Li Tielong exclaimed in astonishment.
Liu Yuhan smiled without saying a word. Thinking back, the last time she used this trick was when Yi Tianchen burned down Black Wind Stronghold, leading to a server-wide manhunt!
With the Vine Ring secured, the four continued forward. However, after walking less than thirty meters, they heard a commotion coming from a narrow path nearby. Upon listening closely, the voices sounded familiar—it was none other than Blood Night Poison Dragon and Chaos of Life, who had previously been surrounded and killed.
"Could they have already returned to town?" Chaos of Life wondered aloud. "I've practically scoured all of Grave Mound Mountain, and I haven't seen a trace of them."
"Whether they've returned or not, I'm going to take a look around. If I can't catch anyone from Mist of Time, I might as well snag some other players for merit!" Blood Night Poison Dragon cursed loudly. "Old Two, you're really inconsiderate for running off on your own."
"In one word: in a situation where the enemy is strong and we are weak, fighting head-on is equivalent to reckless abandon; reckless abandon equals death. I'm just conserving my strength!"
"Damn it!"
Blood Night Poison Dragon felt conflicted and frustrated. He was already numb to Blood Night Poison Wolf's "one word" reasoning; every time it sounded so grandiose, yet it never amounted to "one word," but rather "a bunch of words," enough to stand alone as a paragraph.
Not far behind the scattered rocks, Liu Yuhan and her companions made no preparations for an attack. The noise generated by the approaching group made it clear that they were not alone; the number of opponents was likely significant. Recklessly exposing themselves would only lead to trouble.
Soon, a large group of players with red names appeared, their numbers clearly exceeding twenty. Liu Yuhan and her friends dared not provoke such a sizable team and chose to hide instead.
However, things did not unfold as they had hoped. The direction in which the Blood Night team was moving happened to lead straight toward where Liu Yuhan and her group were hiding.
"We can't stay here; we have to leave!" Liu Yuhan whispered urgently.
The others nodded in agreement and began to make their way down the hillside. However, the dense bushes obstructed their path, causing a rustling noise that quickly caught the attention of the leading members of Blood Night.
"There's someone there!"
"Relax, it's just our own side; no need to panic!"
Despite the reassurances, the potential danger had not dissipated. Within five seconds, a voice shouted, "It's them! It's them! I was killed by that assassin! I remember her figure! President, they're from Mist of Time!"
"What? No way!"
Blood Night's Poison Dragon rushed forward, glancing at Liu Yuhan and her companions. Not seeing any red names, he questioned, "Wait a minute. If they were really from Mist of Time, they should show up as red names! Did they switch factions?"
The bushes continued to shake violently, even more so than before. Taking advantage of this moment, Liu Yuhan and her group quickened their pace. If they got caught by the opposing team of twenty, the balance of victory could easily tip against them.
"Regardless of whether they are or not, their behavior is suspicious. We need to pursue them!" Chaos of Life said coldly as he brandished his staff and hurried after them. He called out, "All assassins and archers follow closely! Cut them off at top speed!"
"Understood!"
Three assassins and five archers surged forward, quickly overtaking Chaos of Life as they chased after Liu Yuhan's group. The archers even began their assault, launching an area attack—Rain of Arrows!
A rain of arrows flew through the air, shimmering with skill effects. While most missed their targets, a few arrows struck Mu Wanqing and Li Tielong, who were slower than the others. Damage numbers floated up alongside the system confirmation of their identities.
"MD, it's them, it's really them!" someone shouted.
"Damn, I almost got caught off guard!" Blood Night Poison Dragon widened his eyes and immediately activated the Magic Shield. He called out to the people behind him, "Everyone, follow me! Chase them down and hit them hard! Let this Grave Mound Mountain be their burial ground!"
With their identities confirmed, Blood Night's team naturally became energized. However, at the same time, Liu Yuhan quickly turned around. With a flick of her wrist, she unleashed a flurry of blood-red arrows that shot out like lightning. One after another, she fired two precise shots—
Rain of Arrows Lv-2! Multishot Lv-2! Frost Arrow Lv-3! Blazing Arrow Lv-3!
Two area-of-effect skills suppressed the enemies while two single-target skills dealt continuous damage. The first archer in line fell decisively to the ground, taken out just like that.
"What should we do? There are too many of them, and they're all ranged!"
Li Tielong couldn't help but feel anxious. It wasn't that he was afraid of dying; he was more worried about holding back Liu Yuhan and Lin Yan. Everything was clear now: it was because he and Mu Wanqing were too slow that they had given the enemy the chance to confirm their identities and attack.
"Let's fall back for now!"
Liu Yuhan said as she swiftly shot three arrows. She continued to move forward, weaving through clusters of bushes and rocks until they came face to face with a dense Desolate Tomb…
