As the sun dipped low in the west, the dense forest was bathed in a dazzling golden hue. The first dusk of the Zero Era was about to descend!
Deep within the woods, more than twenty people gathered around a deep pit. Zeng Jian's face was taut, his gaze fixed on the rusty, chipped Rotten Sword in his hand. After Yi Tianchen had destroyed his weapon, even as the President of King's Guild, Zeng Jian found himself without any suitable weapon to replace it.
Reluctantly, he had no choice but to continue using the discarded Rotten Sword.
"Someone's coming out! It's King’s Eternal!" one of the younger members suddenly shouted, quickly pulling the disheveled King’s Eternal up from the pit along with a few others.
"Where are the others? Where is everyone?" Upon hearing that King’s Eternal had emerged, Zeng Jian rushed over, glaring at him and shouting.
"They... they all went back!"
King’s Eternal's lips twitched; he could no longer face Zeng Jian. As the Vice President of King's Guild, he had led a group of over ten members down there, yet not a single one had made it back alive. This was a first in his gaming career.
"Back? They all just went back?" Zeng Jian sneered. The thought of being thoroughly toyed with by Yi Tianchen ignited his fury. He pointed an accusing finger at King’s Eternal and shouted, "With so many people, you couldn't handle even one? If everyone else went back, why didn't you?"
"President, it wasn't because of him!" King’s Eternal replied bitterly. After Yi Tianchen had lured out the Cunning Ring Serpent King, the entire battlefield quickly spiraled out of control. His subordinates could barely manage against the Cunning Ringed Serpent Cub, let alone a BOSS.
"Not him?" Zeng Jian's tone softened slightly; perhaps he realized he was being unfairly harsh on King’s Eternal. After all, during their three years as kings, King’s Eternal and Overlord Batyen had indeed helped him significantly. He then asked, "What exactly happened?"
"We were originally in a strong position during the battle, but that brat Yi Tianchen suddenly lured out a BOSS. My brothers were caught off guard and couldn't hold their ground!" King’s Eternal quickly recounted everything that had transpired in Snake Den and informed Zeng Jian about the final situation on the battlefield.
"A BOSS?"
After hearing King’s Eternal's account, Zeng Jian's previously furious expression transformed into one of intense excitement. For players, BOSSes represented far too much. Moreover, as the President of a Guild, Zeng Jian was particularly keen on tackling BOSSes due to their immense allure.
"What grade is it?" Overlord Batyen, who had been silent until now, leaned in. He was a mage, but the setting of the Zero Era was somewhat stingy; magic professions had no skills before officially changing classes, making it quite a struggle.
"Refined Iron Level!" A glint of chill flashed in King's Eternal's eyes. Having witnessed the Cunning Ring Serpent King firsthand, he found that kind of formidable lethality to be quite intimidating.
"A Refined Iron Level boss? Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?" Zeng Jian couldn't help but shiver, his breath quickening involuntarily.
"There's no mistake! Cunning Ring Serpent King, Iron Grade Boss, level 12!" King's Eternal frowned, gripping his dagger tightly while almost reciting the Cunning Ring Serpent King's stats.
"Great, this is truly a blessing from above!" After receiving King's Eternal's confirmation, Zeng Jian revealed a genuine smile for the first time since encountering Yi Tianchen. He turned and ordered, "Send the word out—everyone returning should come immediately. Leave a few to guard the entrance; the rest follow me inside!"
"Yes!" The group of subordinates shouted in unison, their eyes shining with excitement.

Although Yi Tianchen had long understood the meaning of being caught between a rock and a hard place, it was at this moment that he truly grasped the essence conveyed by that idiom.
Looking down, after having thoroughly defeated a bunch of subordinates, he saw the Cunning Ring Serpent King in a furious state towering high above him, reaching a height of seven or eight meters. It made Yi Tianchen's heart race!
"Damn it!"
Unable to hold back his frustration, Yi Tianchen found himself slightly admiring King's Eternal in that brief moment. Under the watchful gaze of the Cunning Ring Serpent King, that guy had managed to slip away like an eel—quite impressive indeed!
At this moment, however, Yi Tianchen was clinging to some vines about ten meters above the ground. The Cunning Ring Serpent King reared up and spat out a mouthful of venom directly at him. The agony from the corrosive liquid made him cry out in pain.
Immediately afterward, Yi Tianchen began to climb frantically upward while hastily downing a Health Potion. Fortunately, the Cunning Ring Serpent King's Venom Attack had a long cooldown; by the time it spewed venom again, Yi Tianchen had already climbed into a horizontal cave.
Without further hesitation, he dove inside. At this point, the Cunning Ring Serpent King had left its nest; this cave had become the safest place in the entire Snake Den for him.
"Damn it!"
Ignoring the muck on the ground, Yi Tianchen plopped down without a care. Turning his head, he saw the furious Cunning Ring Serpent King thrashing at the bottom, its massive body repeatedly slamming against the muddy walls. Even in the cave, the violent tremors were unmistakable.
After catching his breath, it seemed that the Cunning Ring Serpent King had not climbed up, which gave Yi Tianchen a slight sense of relief. He stood up, but due to the dim light in the horizontal cave, as soon as he took a step, he kicked something hard.
In an instant, Yi Tianchen was sent flying, landing face-first into the ground!
"Damn it!"
As soon as he hit the ground, the stench of rotten mud mixed with a foul odor filled his nostrils. Yi Tianchen nearly choked and passed out from the smell. In a panic, he scrambled to his feet, trying to wipe the mud off his face. However, since his hands were also covered in muck, wiping it only resulted in him smearing mud all over his face.
Quickly summoning a mirror, he glanced at his reflection in the dim light and nearly jumped: "Wow, this face really has character!"
Cursing under his breath for a moment, Yi Tianchen returned to where he had kicked the hard object and crouched down. He wanted to see what had caused him to trip so badly.
However, due to the poor lighting, he couldn't see clearly. When he reached out to touch it, it felt like a bent stick. But at that moment, Yi Tianchen shivered and gripped this "stick" tightly, muttering in disbelief: "It doesn't feel like wood... nor iron; it's not jade or stone either..."
Countless questions swirled in Yi Tianchen's mind, leaving him stunned in place. Undeniably, he was now completely captivated by this mysterious object in his hand. He then pulled out a dagger with one hand while using the other to start clearing away the surrounding mud.
In less than two minutes, he had excavated a semi-circular indentation beneath his feet. Yi Tianchen also gauged that this "stick" was about just over a meter long. Finally, gripping it with both hands and letting out a fierce shout, he yanked the entire "stick" free from the mud.
Shock?! Confusion?! Bewilderment?! Excitement?! Thrill?!
Staring blankly at this "stick" in his hands, Yi Tianchen's mind went blank. He never would have imagined that this object that had tripped him was not a stick at all but rather a curved bow! An extraordinarily remarkable curved bow!
But... where is the bowstring? Why is there no bowstring?
Yi Tianchen was utterly astonished! A closer inspection revealed even more shock; this bow bore a label reading "Sealed!"
"Sealed?" Yi Tianchen murmured to himself, repeatedly whispering those three words.
It was clear that the meaning conveyed by these three words was incredibly profound. Nevertheless, this only made Yi Tianchen value the Mysterious Bow in his hands even more. One could imagine that anything sealed away could not possibly be ordinary.
In an instant, Yi Tianchen felt both excited and thrilled, leading him to think of the Appraiser. That Old Man had spent his entire life as an appraiser and must have seen countless strange treasures; perhaps he could provide some information about this curved bow.
With that thought in mind, Yi Tianchen quickly shook off the mud from the bow and placed it into his bag.
He then walked to the cave entrance and noticed that the Cunning Ring Serpent King had stopped rampaging, now wandering around the bottom of the cave. However, on the muddy wall at Yi Tianchen's feet, numerous dents and cracks appeared, a testament to the Cunning Ring Serpent King's formidable strength.
"This guy... really knows how to put in some effort!"
Glancing at the arrogant Cunning Ring Serpent King, Yi Tianchen then looked back at the entrance of the Snake Den, a smile creeping onto his face. In fact, when King’s Eternal managed to escape, Yi Tianchen had already confirmed that there was a BOSS named Zeng Jian here, who would certainly not let things rest easily.
Moreover, after suffering such a significant defeat at Yi Tianchen's hands today, how could it possibly leave without a fight?
