Ye Huan ultimately left without any obstruction, a scene that even Jin Ling could not have anticipated. However, Song Zhong, perhaps out of fear of Ye Huan's "strength," did not dare to take any action against him. In fact, after Ye Huan departed, he began to ponder how he could explain the situation to Gu Long. As for the other elders of the Heavenly Dragon Sect, those with a bit of sense realized something was amiss after Ye Huan's departure. After all, if Ye Huan truly possessed overwhelming power, why hadn't he simply killed them all when they first encountered him? Instead, he had only eliminated Ghost Blade without anyone witnessing it.
"Something is definitely off here."
Exchanging glances, several of the more astute elders of the Heavenly Dragon Sect finally realized that Ye Huan had been putting on an act; he did not possess the strength to rival Gu Long. The reason he had managed to deceive all the Heavenly Dragon Gate Protectors was entirely due to his use of the Golden Wind Sword and Arms that the Protectors had never seen before. Yet, under such intimidation, no one dared to risk their lives to expose Ye Huan's true nature. Even after Ye Huan left, they did not dare to warn Song Zhong and could only watch him frown in deep thought.
"Hey, these foolish pigs! This time I, Jin Ling, will never associate with you again. No matter what, I must take this opportunity to break free from the Heavenly Dragon Sect!"
Having clearly observed the expressions on each elder's face, Jin Ling was utterly fed up with their hypocritical demeanor. Unconsciously, she touched the Bluetooth earpiece hanging from her ear. Just then, something unexpected happened that Jin Ling could not comprehend; suddenly, Ye Huan's voice came through her earpiece, saying right next to her ear, "Jin Ling, it's me, Ye Huan. Can you hear me?"
"Ye Huan? How is this possible? Didn't he already leave?"
Not daring to respond to Ye Huan in front of the other Heavenly Dragon Sect elders, Jin Ling felt an overwhelming shock as she looked around and found no sign of him. Fortunately, she was someone who had weathered many storms; after a brief moment of astonishment, she hurriedly composed herself and stepped back a few meters before attempting to speak. "Ye Huan, was that you just now? Where are you?"
"Me? I'm on a deserted mountain about a kilometer away from you. I won't tell you the exact location; just know that this device in your ear is called a Bluetooth earpiece and is specifically for contacting me. As for why I took the risk of giving it to you this time, I wanted to ask how you plan to proceed with our deal."
Ye Huan's voice came through the Bluetooth earpiece again. Jin Ling understood that it was a communication tool; however, instinctively upon hearing that Ye Huan was only a kilometer away from her, she couldn't help but scan her surroundings again. This scene did not escape Ye Huan's notice.
As Ye Huan had informed Jin Ling through the Bluetooth earpiece, he was indeed on a deserted mountain about a kilometer away from her. He had discovered this mountain before seeking out Jin Ling. From this vantage point, not only could he ensure communication distance with the Bluetooth earpiece but he could also use a Military Telescope to observe everything happening around Jin Ling. At that moment, while conversing with her, Ye Huan sat atop a large rock on the mountain peak with a Military Telescope in hand, continuously observing Jin Ling's direction. Those who knew what was happening would say that Ye Huan was doing this to better facilitate his transaction with Jin Ling; however, anyone unaware of the situation might easily mistake him for a peeping tom trying to catch a glimpse of a woman bathing.
"I haven't figured out what comes next either. However, I can say for certain that Song Zhong will not leave easily. I know his character well; this time Gu Long sent him to lead us in wiping out Yuxu Palace. Not only did he fail his mission but he also caused Ghost Blade among Heavenly Dragon Sect's Ten Protectors to lose his life. If he returns like this, the punishment he faces will likely be death. There's even a chance that Gu Long might strip him of his Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy using some special method."
In a voice only Jin Ling could hear through the Bluetooth headset, he quietly responded to Ye Huan. Even though it was just a conversation over the Bluetooth device, when Jin Ling mentioned that Gu Long would strip Song Zhong of the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy, Ye Huan could detect a hint of fear in Jin Ling's tone. It seemed that Jin Ling wanted to leave the Heavenly Dragon Sect not only for freedom but also out of fear of Gu Long.
After carefully considering what Jin Ling had said, Ye Huan felt that Jin Ling's judgment was very accurate. Especially after their earlier interaction, Ye Huan realized that Song Zhong was not particularly brave. He would not be content to simply return to the Heavenly Dragon Sect and wait for Gu Long's punishment; he would surely think of other ways to complete the task assigned by Gu Long. The most likely scenario was that he would try every means possible to lure out Ye Huan, this 'expert', from the Yuxu Palace and take the opportunity to wipe it out.
Of course, these were just Ye Huan's speculations. Whether or not Song Zhong would actually do this depended on whether he was willing to return to the Heavenly Dragon Sect to accept Gu Long's punishment. Regardless of the outcome, Ye Huan needed to consider all possible plans that Song Zhong might implement. Only then could he find a way to fulfill his agreement with Jin Ling.
“Ye Huan… Ye Huan? Are you still there?”
The voice of Jin Ling came through the Bluetooth headset, breaking through Ye Huan's chaotic thoughts. Realizing that Yu Wuxia had not yet awakened, he quickly replied through the headset, “Jin Ling, right now our leader at Yuxu Palace, Yu Wuxia, is still unconscious. Given the situation you provided, I don’t have many good options. However, if we truly want to eliminate all the Heavenly Dragon Gate Protectors except for you, we absolutely cannot let them return to the Heavenly Dragon Sect. I believe I don’t need to explain why.”
“Okay, I understand what you mean. No matter what, I will find a way to draw out Song Zhong and the others. Why don’t you head back to Yuxu Palace and think of something?”
Instinctively responding, Jin Ling clearly understood Ye Huan's intention through the Bluetooth headset. After all, once the Heavenly Dragon Gate Protectors returned collectively to the Heavenly Dragon Sect, it would be very difficult for an outsider like Ye Huan to enter. Moreover, with a powerful leader like Gu Long, there would be no possibility for their transaction to continue. From any perspective, Jin Ling was determined not to give up such a good opportunity.
“Alright, I’ll head back to Yuxu Palace for a bit. I’ll be back within a day at most; in the meantime, you need to be careful.”
Agreeing with Jin Ling’s suggestion for him to return to Yuxu Palace, Ye Huan indeed had some issues that required discussion with someone. The only person who could help him with this problem was undoubtedly the severely injured and unconscious Yu Wuxia.
