Ye Huan was not wrong at all. Ever since Lingxiao married Luo Yufeng, he had been facing her hefty figure, which weighed several hundred pounds. Lingxiao had felt overwhelmed for quite some time now, but he buried those feelings deep inside because he knew that without Luo Yufeng, returning to the Nine Provinces would leave him helpless against Ye Huan. So, for all this time, Lingxiao could only endure in the Nine Yin Cave, thinking that one day he would seek revenge on Ye Huan.
As a man, it was easy to guess certain issues when faced with a woman like Luo Yufeng. Yet, those very issues were brought up by Ye Huan in front of so many people. Lingxiao was furious, but after witnessing Jiang Tingyu and Wen Ziran battle against Ye Huan, he dared not step forward. Instead, he looked to Luo Yufeng for help, hoping she would say something fair to restore his confidence.
Feeling the expectant gazes behind him and glancing at Ye Huan in front of him, Lingxiao was surprised when Luo Yufeng nodded seriously after hearing Ye Huan's words and muttered softly, "I really didn't expect him to be this useless..."
At a loss for words, Ye Huan genuinely wondered if Luo Yufeng was there to help him. Otherwise, why would she target Lingxiao? He scrutinized Luo Yufeng from head to toe; regardless of her intentions, he had to admit that someone like her wouldn't even dare to help him by mocking Lingxiao. He wouldn't want her even if she offered herself.
It seemed that Luo Yufeng noticed Ye Huan's scrutiny. Suddenly, she approached him and their eyes met. She flashed a grin that was more frightening than a frown, causing Ye Huan to hurriedly lower his head and refocus on the Summoning Book 2012 Arms Compendium.
As with every previous level-up as a summoner, after becoming a Seventh-Level Summoner, Ye Huan found many new Arms in his 2012 Arms Compendium. Aside from some that he couldn't use, the rest were modern weapons meant for special occasions. However, there were only three truly offensive weapons among them. The page he was currently looking at featured one of them: an aircraft-hitting sniper rifle, the RT20 large-caliber sniper rifle.
It was well-known that in the Twenty-First Century where Ye Huan once lived, as infantry became more armored and military capabilities improved significantly in range and mobility, snipers faced challenges in getting close to targets or ensuring their own safety during attacks. This led to an increase in airborne insertions and special operations. Consequently, large-caliber and long-range sniper rifles emerged to address the inadequacies in range and power at the time. The RT20 large-caliber sniper rifle became one of the most powerful anti-material rifles adopted by military forces worldwide upon its release.
After examining the RT20 large-caliber sniper rifle in the Summoning Book closely, Ye Huan attempted to summon it but hesitated to shoulder it for firing. After all, the propellant gases from the RT20 would recoil backward. If he used a traditional shooting stance under such strong gas discharge, even if Ye Huan survived, he would at least be disfigured—the consequences were simply unimaginable.
Carefully lifting the RT20 sniper rifle with his left hand while facing Luo Yufeng made it impossible for Ye Huan to act first. He feared that Luo Yufeng might suddenly deploy her Blood Refinement Shield that had defended against Tenth-Level Mixed Magic Judgment of Light and Darkness. If Tenth-Level mixed magic could be resisted, how could the Blood Refinement Shield possibly fail against a sniper rifle? What if after Ye Huan made his move, Luo Yufeng used her Blood Refinement Shield for defense and counterattacked with Blood Refinement Sword Qi?
Contemplating whether he should provoke Luo Yufeng first, Ye Huan steeled himself and provocatively said, "Fat pig, don’t just blame Lingxiao; which man wouldn’t go limp at the sight of you in bed?"
"You seek death."
Luo Yufeng glared at Ye Huan, her teeth clenched. The sarcasm from Ye Huan struck her harder than the previous provocation from Lingxiao. With a furious shout, she raised her blood-red longsword and swiftly unleashed a streak of blood light towards Ye Huan.
Realizing that this blood light was undoubtedly the Blood Refinement Sword Qi, Ye Huan decided to retreat decisively, backing away a good ten meters. With a flick of his mind, he conjured a smoke bomb in his right hand and hurled it to the ground.
As the smoke billowed up, Luo Yufeng could no longer see Ye Huan in mid-air. However, if she had used her Divine Sense, she would have easily sensed that Ye Huan had taken advantage of this brief moment to position himself behind her. Unfortunately, Luo Yufeng did not do so, allowing Ye Huan to take full advantage of the situation. Using a common trick among Cultivators to obscure vision, he slowly aimed the barrel of his RT20 sniper rifle at Luo Yufeng.
Bang!
The deafening gunshot rang out, catching everyone from the Nine Yin Cave off guard. None of them expected Ye Huan to launch an attack from behind Luo Yufeng. They were momentarily stunned, unable to even turn around to glance at him. Yet, despite this surprise, as the bullet shot out of the RT20 sniper rifle and approached Luo Yufeng's body, a faint red glow suddenly erupted around her, perfectly blocking the bullet.
"Blood Refinement Sword Qi?"
Ye Huan exclaimed in shock as he realized that what Luo Yufeng used to deflect the bullet was not a protective shield but rather a blood-colored light resembling a longsword. Numerous speculations flashed through his mind, with the most likely being that the defensive treasure Luo Yufeng carried could only be used once and would not allow for further defenses.
Since there was no way to deal with Luo Yufeng for the time being, Ye Huan decided to give it another shot. He gripped the RT20 sniper rifle and once again pulled the trigger, sending another bullet whistling toward Luo Yufeng's head.
"If you miss once, you'll never get a second chance."
Without turning back, Luo Yufeng spoke in a low voice, proving that Ye Huan's earlier assumption was clearly incorrect. The blood light around her surged dramatically, freezing the bullet fired from the RT20 sniper rifle in mid-air before everyone's eyes...
