Chapter 160: An Unexpected Encounter
With diligence rewarded, Ye Huan swiftly navigated through the Underground Maze beneath Willow Village, guided by the residual Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy on the walls. To his surprise, he found that the end was merely the beginning; after a long detour, he ended up back at the entrance of the Underground Maze, where he spotted four or five Eastern Ninjas carrying a stretcher and holding torches, attempting to leave.
Hiding silently around a corner like a deadly snake ready to strike in the night, Ye Huan gripped his M4A1 assault rifle equipped with a silencer and scope. He intended to use it to eliminate the ninjas before him. He chose not to use the Barrett sniper rifle despite its power; its slow reload speed made it unsuitable for consecutive kills.
In contrast, while the M4A1 had slightly less firepower, its rapid firing rate allowed for significant continuity. Observing that his opponents were mostly at level five Professional strength, Ye Huan made his decision without hesitation.
Adjusting the scope to focus on one of the ninjas, Ye Huan was no longer the rookie who relied solely on spray-and-pray tactics. Now, even if given a Desert Eagle, he could hit a sparrow flying fifty meters away with perfect accuracy. After facing numerous challenges, he remained exceptionally calm in this situation as he slowly squeezed the trigger.
With a muffled sound due to the silencer, the bullet struck its target, followed by a pained scream that drew everyone's attention. They hastily dropped the stretcher and pulled out long knives, their eyes filled with caution as they scanned their surroundings.
However, after some time passed without any sign of danger, fear crept in among them. They shouted into the darkness, "Who's there? Come out!" "Yeah, show yourself!" It seemed they were trying to bolster their own courage.
From his hidden vantage point illuminated by their raised torches, Ye Huan smirked as he pulled the trigger again. He fired off a series of shots—over ten in total—each one finding its mark in their chests, blooming into vivid flowers of death.
After completing this grim task, Ye Huan stepped out from his hiding place and approached the fallen ninjas. He drew his triangular bayonet and stabbed it into their chests to ensure that none of them could escape like Yamamoto Ichiki had done.
After the incident, it was confirmed that several ninjas had died, leaving no chance for escape. Ye Huan then turned his gaze to the stretcher beside him. With a swift motion of his bayonet, he cut through the hemp rope binding it, and with a powerful tug, he pulled aside the white cloth covering the stretcher.
As Ye Huan had suspected, beneath the cloth lay a person—someone he knew all too well. The individual stared wide-eyed at Ye Huan, disbelief etched across their face. However, they remained frozen, unable to speak, as if they had fallen victim to some insidious trick. Their black clothing was now dirty and unrecognizable.
With no time to ask questions and fearing that the person might be poisoned, Ye Huan hoisted them onto his shoulder and leaped out of the Underground Maze, returning to a room in Willow Village. He quickly summoned a military Hummer and carefully placed the person in the back seat before climbing into the driver's seat. Starting the Hummer, he sped towards Tianyue City. It was worth noting that Willow Village was not far from Tianyue City—only about a forty-minute drive. With the military Hummer roaring to life, Ye Huan rushed into Tianyue City.
Recently, due to an influx of new recruits in Tianyue City, Zuo Yi had been working tirelessly since arriving at Tian Yue. After sleeping for just one day, he was dragged by Ye Huan to help train the new soldiers, leaving him no time to rest. This made Zuo Yi quite displeased. So when he saw Ye Huan returning in the military Hummer, he hurriedly flagged it down and began venting his frustrations.
To his surprise, throughout Zuo Yi's complaints, Ye Huan didn't even glance at him. Instead, he got out of the military Hummer and carried a man from the back seat with an anxious expression. This scene immediately piqued Zuo Yi's curiosity, prompting him to mutter, "Hey, Ye Huan, haven't you caused enough trouble with those Han Sisters and the little princess in the capital? Why are you now dragging a man into this?"
Normally, Ye Huan would have reacted angrily to such comments from Zuo Yi and would have likely given him a couple of knocks on the head without hesitation. However, this time Ye Huan seemed far too preoccupied and impatient. He instructed Zuo Yi urgently, "Enough with the nonsense! Quickly find me a quiet place and get the best doctor in Tianyue City!"
Surprised by Ye Huan's demeanor, Zuo Yi noticed an urgency on his face that he hadn't seen even when facing a million troops. It became clear that this man Ye Huan was carrying held significant importance to him. Without wasting any time, Zuo Yi led them to a tent within a temporary military camp set up in Tianyue City and sent two Dragon Hall disciples to fetch a military doctor.
Before long, after placing the man on the ground inside the tent, Zuo Yi's summoned disciples returned with an elderly man who was undoubtedly the military doctor.
Nodding respectfully at both Ye Huan and Zuo Yi, the military doctor wasted no time. He crouched down and placed his hand on the man brought by Ye Huan before retrieving a bundle of white cloth containing silver needles from his waist. He began examining why this individual could neither move nor speak. Meanwhile, seeing Ye Huan's unprecedented tension as he stared at the man lying on the ground made Zuo Yi pull him aside gently while whispering, "Ye Huan, let's step outside! We shouldn't disturb them here."
Hearing this suggestion, Ye Huan nodded and followed Zuo Yi out of the tent. However, his anxiety did not dissipate in the slightest. This only deepened Zuo Yi's curiosity as he seized the moment to ask Ye Huan directly: "Ye Huan, who is this person you brought back? You seem really worried."
