Chapter 107: Strong Comeback (Part Five)
Ye Huan, wearing sunglasses, appeared increasingly cold in the eyes of everyone present, especially amidst the scene of raging flames and scattered corpses. He didn't even glance at the members of Dragon Hall who had followed from Sky Star City.
"Zhang, the City Lord? Zhang, the City Lord?" After a long silence without a response from Zhang Feng, Ye Huan had to ask again.
Finally, under Ye Huan's repeated calls, Zhang Feng snapped back to reality. However, he struggled to find his voice. Just moments ago, when he learned that Ye Huan had arrived in Beiyuan City, he hadn't taken Ye Huan seriously at all. In fact, he had been thinking about how to make trouble for him, considering Ye Huan's stronger abilities.
Now, however, their positions had completely reversed. How could Zhang Feng face Ye Huan in this situation?
The more he thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt. Zhang Feng remained entangled in his thoughts for a while before finally speaking up: "Ye Huan, are you really a Fifth-Level Summoner?"
To others, a Fifth-Level Summoner might only summon some ordinary fifth-level creatures. But for Ye Huan, a Fifth-Level Summoner could rival a Ninth-Level Practitioner. Ultimately, though, Ye Huan was still a Fifth-Level Summoner; the density of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy alone confirmed that fact. So Ye Huan nodded heavily, affirming his status as a Fifth-Level Summoner.
At this point, Zhang Feng found himself at a loss for words. A Fifth-Level Summoner whose strength surpassed his own—where was the justice in that?
Feeling frustrated, Zhang Feng lowered his posture somewhat and even changed how he addressed Ye Huan. "Young Master Ye, if you don’t mind, would you like to visit the City Lord’s Mansion?"
Noticing Zhang Feng's change in demeanor, Ye Huan understood that this was a direct benefit of his strength. The image of the Mysterious Elder wielding the Crimson Beauty Sword flashed through his mind. Instead of feeling smug about it, he became even more cautious and nodded slightly.
Unbeknownst to him, in Zhang Feng's eyes, if Ye Huan were pleased with this form of address, everything would be manageable—after all, he was just a spoiled young master. However, Ye Huan's lack of significant reaction elevated his status in Zhang Feng's mind to that of an untouchable figure.
Strong abilities paired with low rank and an icy demeanor—Ye Huan's behavior was almost unrecognizable compared to what Zhang Feng had previously seen.
'Could this Ye Huan be an imposter?'
Muttering to himself, Zhang Feng did not delay in his actions. He hurriedly pointed out the way for Ye Huan, almost sending someone to fetch a grand sedan chair to carry Ye Huan forward.
Mounting his horse, under the protection of numerous soldiers from Beiyuan City, Ye Huan and Zhang Feng made their way toward the Northern Liang City Lord's mansion. Along the way, they passed many ordinary homes, where residents peeked through slightly ajar doors to observe them.
"Mother, who is that guy? The City Lord is walking, but he’s riding a horse?"
"I don't know who he is, but he must be an important figure..."
The mother dared not tell her son that Ye Huan was a wanted criminal. The pair stood at their door, whispering and speculating, a scene that played out in every household in Beiyuan City.
When they finally reached the location of the City Lord's mansion, Ye Huan couldn't help but feel a wave of nostalgia for the Royal Capital Ye Family, a place he had once called home. He resolved that once he left Beiyuan City, he would quickly head to Huaxia to visit the Ye Family.
However, Zhang Feng clearly did not intend to give Ye Huan a chance to leave. As soon as they entered the Main Hall of the City Lord's mansion, he anxiously turned to Ye Huan and said, "Ye Huan, can you tell me about Zhang Ren during this time..."
Ye Huan replied with silence.
To be honest, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to share everything that had happened with Zhang Ren during this period. But thinking about Zhang Feng's mindset made Ye Huan wary; he feared that if he revealed too much, Zhang Feng might have a heart attack or something similar. If that happened, Zhang Ren would surely come looking for trouble.
After hesitating for a moment, Ye Huan could only say simply, "City Lord Zhang, you don’t need to worry. I can assure you that Zhang Ren is doing much better now than when he was a Town Enforcer. He has already reached the Sixth Level Peak as a martial artist and is currently with my mother Liu Ruyan in the Han family of Flame Sun City in the Southern Xiongnu Empire. If you don’t believe me, you can send someone to verify."
Hearing this from Ye Huan made it difficult for Zhang Feng to press further. He nodded in acknowledgment, and surprisingly, both fell into silence. Ye Huan was fine; as a guest, it was normal not to have much to say. But for Zhang Feng, the master of Beiyuan City, remaining silent was quite unusual.
It was no wonder; anyone who learned that their nephew had gone from being a Fifth Level Professional to a Sixth Level Practitioner at its peak within just a month would surely be shocked.
After a while, regaining his composure, Zhang Feng realized that Zhang Ren's advancement must be related to Ye Huan. He spoke more warmly now: "Ye Huan, why don’t you stay at my City Lord's mansion for a few days? As long as I’m here, I guarantee your safety; nothing will go wrong."
'My safety?'
In his mind, the image of the Crimson Beauty Sword flashed, along with the scene of over twenty Ninth Level Warriors' heads rolling to the ground. Ye Huan truly felt that what Zhang Feng said was somewhat unbelievable. He couldn't help but shake his head and replied with a smile, "Zhang, the City Lord, to be honest with you, I came to Huaxia this time with the intention of going to the capital."
"What? You want to go to the capital?"
Zhang Feng stood up abruptly, disbelief written all over his face. His expression was even more shocked than when Ye Huan had wiped out the Dragon Hall branch in Beiyuan City.
The Capital of Huaxia was currently a place where everyone in the Huaxia Nation was searching for Ye Huan. Going there was akin to walking into a den of tigers and dragons; it was no different from seeking death.
‘Could it be... Ye Huan really possesses strength that can rival a Ninth Level Warrior? If so, wouldn't he be able to establish his own family? No way, that’s absolutely impossible...’
His thoughts were in disarray. As the lord of Beiyuan City, Zhang Feng had never felt as conflicted as he did today. Suddenly, he recalled a line from the wanted notice regarding capturing Ye Huan and couldn't help but ask, "By the way, Ye Huan, is it true what the court's notice said about you destroying a quarter of the Southern Xiongnu Empire's palace?"
"The palace? That's true. Additionally, I killed two or three Ninth Level Practitioners and dozens of Eighth Level Practitioners. Oh, and your nephew Zhang Ren was also involved."
Ye Huan spoke without holding back. After being questioned back and forth by Zhang Feng, he finally revealed the facts and added, "By the way, Zhang Ren and I also brought out one of Emperor Xuan Ziming's consorts from the Southern Xiongnu Empire. Any questions?"
"Ah?!"
Upon hearing Ye Huan's words, Zhang Feng was truly left speechless. He had hardly seen any Ninth Level Practitioners in his lifetime, yet here was Ye Huan, young as he was, having killed several. How could this not shock Zhang Feng?
He sighed inwardly at how the younger generation pushed forward while the older generation fell behind. Zhang Feng had to admit that he was indeed getting old; even his nephew dared to do things that he would have never had the courage to attempt.
Thus, Zhang Feng refrained from stopping Ye Huan. Instead, like a kind elder, he gave Ye Huan some advice before sending him off from the city lord's mansion, leaving Ye Huan feeling quite uncomfortable.
Once outside Beiyuan City, Ye Huan was eager to return home. He summoned a military Hummer and sped along the official road from Beiyuan City to the capital. It was on this very road that members of Dragon Hall had pursued him for several days and nights. If it weren't for Ye Huan bringing some provisions and having access to the 2012 Arms Compendium, it wouldn't have been surprising if he had perished on that journey.
Thinking of this made Ye Huan's disdain for Dragon Hall rise another level. He pressed down on the throttle with frustration. This time, from evening until the next afternoon, Ye Huan arrived at the foot of Huaxia Nation's city wall. Looking at the majestic walls of the Capital of Huaxia, he put away his military Hummer and walked step by step towards the city gate.
Compared to the Southern Xiongnu Empire, the city gates of the capital were noticeably wider. This alone reflected the dignity of the Huaxia Nation as a great power. However, a cold smile involuntarily appeared on Ye Huan's face. A great power? A great power that was forced to marry off its little princess to Goryeo?
An uncontrollable surge of anger welled up within him. Ye Huan truly wanted to storm into the city and question Zhao Wujie, asking how this emperor could fail to protect his own daughter!
Unfortunately, before Ye Huan could reach the City Gate, many soldiers noticed his presence. Instead of defending the city, they rushed over and surrounded him, showcasing their lack of discipline compared to those at the border.
What Ye Huan did not know was that these soldiers guarding the capital were actually elite troops drawn from the border forces. Otherwise, how could the safety of the capital be entrusted to a group incapable of ensuring its security?
Looking around, he noticed that none of these soldiers seemed to have a leader. With his sunglasses obscuring his eyes, Ye Huan's voice was cold as he spoke directly, "Find someone who can speak on my behalf and go into the city to inform Zhao Wujie that Ye Family's eldest son, Ye Huan, has returned!"
"Ye Huan? Have you lost your mind? The Ye Family was completely dismantled by Dragon Hall long before Ye Tian left the capital."
Perhaps unable to tolerate Ye Huan's tone, one soldier in standard Huaxia Nation military attire retorted.
"What did you say?" Surprised, Ye Huan quickly approached him and grabbed him by the neck, lifting him off the ground. It was evident that while the enhancement from Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy might not make him as formidable as a martial artist, it significantly increased his strength.
Seeing Ye Huan daring to act out at the city gate startled the soldiers, who immediately aimed their spears at him.
Ignoring the other soldiers around them, Ye Huan lifted the soldier higher and shouted angrily, "Tell me—what you just said is true or not!"
"It... it's true... I'm not lying!" The soldier gasped for air, gripping Ye Huan's arm desperately as his face turned red from lack of oxygen.
With a furious toss, Ye Huan threw him aside. He finally understood what it meant for a tree to fall and monkeys to scatter. After Ye Tian left the capital, the Ye Family had suffered such treatment; how could he remain calm?
With a flick of his wrist, two M4A1 assault rifles equipped with silencers appeared in his hands. He shouted at the soldiers around him, "Anyone who doesn't want to die, get lost! Otherwise, I will show no mercy!"
In an instant, a chilling aura of killing intent emanated from him as he took a slow step forward. However, two spears suddenly blocked his path, halting his advance.
"I've already said, those who stand in my way will die!"
With bloodshot eyes, two M4A1 assault rifles were aimed at two heads. Without a second thought, Ye Huan pulled the triggers, and in an instant, two sprays of blood erupted from the soldiers' heads, a sight both beautiful and horrifying.
"This... how is this possible..."
"How did he do that..."
Gasps of astonishment filled the air. The soldiers looked at Ye Huan with changed expressions. Yes, they were elite troops selected from the border, but they still valued their lives! Especially when faced with a death they couldn't even comprehend!
Tentatively, one soldier stepped forward and asked Ye Huan, "Should I go report this?"
"Go quickly!" Ye Huan's blood-red gaze swept around. He feared that in a moment of impulse, he might kill everyone in front of him. However, these people were merely eating someone else's food and doing someone else's bidding, so he didn't want to make things too difficult for them.
Upon hearing Ye Huan's words, the soldier hurriedly dashed toward the capital, moving as swiftly as a rabbit!
Seeing this scene, Ye Huan closed his eyes and made a decision in his heart: today, he would make all those who dared to act against the Ye Family understand what the cost truly was!
