Sometimes, liking someone does not equate to loving them, and this was perfectly exemplified by Han Cai'er. Just fifteen minutes had passed when she stubbornly insisted that Ye Huan stop his swift horse. She leaped down and ran a few steps to her sister's mount, drawing the attention of everyone around, proving that her feelings for Ye Huan were merely a budding affection. 0

After all, what does a little girl know about love? 0

Noticing the strange looks from the crowd, Ye Huan shook his head helplessly, too lazy to explain anything. Instead, he charged ahead towards the Southern Xiongnu Empire Capital like a bolt of lightning, his mind involuntarily drifting back to the moment when the little princess had blocked a blade for him. 0

‘Perhaps Zhao Ziyu is the one who has truly fallen for me?’ 0

Pondering this, Ye Huan tightened his legs around the horse's belly and increased his speed even further, leaving Zhang Ren and Li Datou far behind. 0

However, just as he was about ten kilometers away from the capital, a group of dozens of oddly dressed men caught Ye Huan's attention. In his line of sight, these men wore pristine white garments adorned with a distinctive emblem resembling two crossed spears forming an inverted triangle—clearly a mark unique to some faction. At the center of the crowd, a carriage moved slowly forward, revealing a corner that bore the hilt of a Ring-Handled Saber… 0

As if sensing Ye Huan's gaze, one man at the front of the group—a man with a noticeable scar at the corner of his eye—turned to look at Ye Huan. After scrutinizing him for a moment, he shifted his gaze behind him and, seeing no one else there, lowered his head again. 0

Ye Huan found this scene puzzling. 0

Logically speaking, it was normal for a passerby to glance curiously at someone they encountered. But who would turn around to check behind them? Coupled with the fact that those Ring-Handled Sabers could be easily grabbed from the carriage, Ye Huan suddenly recalled what Li Datou and his group were transporting—the Beast Inner Pill. 0

“Could what Li Datou is transporting be an Eighth-Level Magical Beast's inner core?” 0

Furrowing his brow, Ye Huan murmured softly. After all, aside from what Li Datou was carrying, he couldn't think of anything else that would warrant such a large group acting together. However, if it were indeed an Eighth-Level Magical Beast's inner core, then everything would make sense. 0

An Eighth-Level Magical Beast was equivalent to possessing the strength of a Ninth-Level Summoner Beast. Hunting one was no small feat; however, if successful, an Eighth-Level Magical Beast's inner core could elevate an ordinary Professional from Level One directly to the peak of Level Three or even Level Four. The Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy contained within it was evident—it was truly a treasure worth its weight in gold. 0

With these thoughts in mind, Ye Huan quickly made up his mind. He galloped ahead until he could no longer see those White-Robed Men. Once out of sight, he glanced around and spotted an earthen slope. He reached out and summoned a Barrett before heading towards the slope. 0

Upon reaching this slope that stood just over three meters high, Ye Huan tied his horse to a small tree behind it and held the Barrett while observing through its scope. Soon enough, he spotted Li Datou and his companions racing towards him from about a kilometer away. 0

After adjusting the scope’s field of view to about five hundred meters away, he noticed that all those White-Clad Men had stopped moving after Ye Huan passed by. They stood still in place, almost all observing what lay behind them. 0

“Just as I suspected, Li Datou! Even you tried to deceive me; isn’t this just asking for trouble?” 0

Talking to himself, Ye Huan could basically confirm that these White-Clad Men were clearly after Li Datou and couldn't help but entertain the thought of a black market deal... 0

He pondered how to obtain the inner core of the Eighth-Level Magical Beast. Through the scope, he noticed that in just a short while, Li Datou and his companions had approached the White-Clad Men, including Han Xuan, Han Cai'er, and Zhang Ren. 0

If Zhang Ren and the others were by Ye Huan's side right now, he wouldn't hesitate to eliminate both Li Datou and the White-Clad Men on the spot. However, at this moment, he could only dismiss the idea of betrayal and focused intently on everything happening through the scope. 0

As they drew closer, Ye Huan watched as Li Datou and his group stopped about ten meters away from the White-Clad Men. They exchanged a few words with a man who had a scar by his eye, and soon enough, anger spread across Li Datou's face as he drew his long sword from his waist. 0

At the same time, the White-Clad Men sprang into action, each reaching for their Ring-Handled Sabers from their carts. To Ye Huan's surprise, two of the White-Clad Men pulled out magic wands from the cart, clearly indicating they were mages! 0

Having witnessed the power of Weiyang's magic at the ruins of the border city wall, Ye Huan immediately pulled the trigger on his Barrett for Zhang Ren's safety. However, he was astonished to see that the scarred man seemed to have sensed the trajectory of the Barrett bullet in advance. He swiftly moved to pull one of the mages back from the brink of death. 0

That kind of speed was something Ye Huan had only seen in a Mysterious Elder from Northern Liang City! Startled, he instinctively shrank back his head, fearing that a sword aura might slice it off. 0

After estimating that more than ten seconds had passed without any movement, Ye Huan cautiously peeked out half his head. He positioned the Barrett on a mound and closed one eye to stealthily observe through the scope. 0

However, there was no trace of Zhang Ren and his companions at that spot anymore. Aside from the cart and numerous White-Clad Men, all that remained were the horses Zhang Ren and his group had ridden earlier. 0

'Where did they go?' 0

In just over ten seconds, they had vanished. Ye Huan slightly adjusted the scope on his Barrett and quickly noticed deep tracks left by the cart's wheels in the ground. It was evident that it had been heavily overloaded. Without a doubt, Zhang Ren and his companions must be inside that cart. 0

Thinking about the strength of that scarred man earlier, Ye Huan desperately wanted to rescue Zhang Ren but dared not act recklessly. 0

Grinding his teeth in frustration, he put away the Barrett and summoned an M4A1 assault rifle along with a Modification Toolbox. He quickly attached a scope to the M4A1. Just as he intended to return to his horse, he turned around only to find that his horse had mysteriously run off, leaving half its reins swinging on a small tree—clearly having bolted after hearing the loud gunshot from the Barrett. 0

Feeling dejected while clutching the M4A1 with both legs as he sprinted forward, Ye Huan realized it was wise to put away such a heavy weapon like Barrett; otherwise, without a horse, he would have been exhausted to death. 0

Occasionally using the scope on his M4 to observe from afar, Ye Huan trailed behind those White-Clad Men at a distance of about three hundred meters. He feared being discovered by them. After following for some time, he was astonished to see that these White-Clad Men had left the main road and were heading eastward. 0

'Where are they going? Is obtaining an Eighth-Level Monster Core not enough? Do they need to take people back too?' 0

Scratching his head in confusion, Ye Huan wasn't very familiar with the terrain of Southern Xiongnu Empire. He could only continue following them cautiously but dared not take any action for fear of getting himself caught if he failed to rescue anyone; that would be too great a loss. 0

The entire day passed as they traveled through several small towns without stopping. It was not until evening, when nightfall descended, that a city came into view for Ye Huan. 0

Thundercloud City! One of the only four cities in the Southern Xiongnu Empire, unlike Flame Sun City located to the west, Thundercloud City's eastern edge met the coastline. It faced constant thunderstorms throughout the year, and the city often endured the impact of crashing waves, which is how it got its name. 0

Following the White-Clad Men into the city, Ye Huan dared not observe with his M4A1 assault rifle in hand. He could only draw closer to the White-Clad Men as they made their way to the center of Thundercloud City. Just as they were about to reach the Lord's Manor, a courtyard across from it caught Ye Huan's attention. 0

In contrast to the grandeur of Thundercloud City's walls and the imposing presence of the Lord's Manor, this courtyard exuded a sense of tranquility. Even though it was located on a bustling street in the heart of Thundercloud City, the courtyard felt exceptionally serene. It was as if there were two worlds—inside and outside—without a sound escaping from it. To put it bluntly, Ye Huan found the courtyard somewhat eerie. 0

As Ye Huan's curiosity about the courtyard grew, the White-Clad Men halted their horse-drawn carriage at its entrance. After sending the carriage through the main gate, they filed in one by one. However, when it was the turn of a man with a scar at the corner of his eye to enter, he glanced toward Ye Huan's hiding spot. 0

That single glance sent chills down Ye Huan's spine. He hurriedly held his breath, not daring to make a sound. 0

Fortunately, the scarred man did not approach Ye Huan's direction but frowned before stepping into the courtyard. Only then did Ye Huan finally relax. 0

‘What a terrifying fellow; definitely stronger than my father!’ 0

Calculating that there was still a distance of over fifty meters between them and surrounded by bustling crowds, Ye Huan decisively made this judgment. 0

After calming himself for a while, he slowly emerged from his hiding place in a narrow alley and pretended to be just another passerby as he strolled around the entrance of the courtyard. 0

Out of the corner of his eye, Ye Huan clearly saw that on the plaque at the entrance of the courtyard were inscribed two characters: "Eastern." 0
