The voices of Weiyang and Zhang Ren echoed continuously. If someone were here, it would be easy to notice that they were searching for magical beasts at the foot of Northern Liang Mountain, especially those below Level Six that could not use Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy to enhance their physical bodies, which had become their primary targets.

Standing beside the Gatling gun, he tossed the Summoning Book above it and pressed a switch. With both hands on the grip, Ye Huan pressed the trigger button. This heavy machine gun, known as the God of Fire in the Twenty-First Century, unleashed its power in the Nine Provinces Continent as bullets continuously poured out.
Since it was summoned, the bullet consumption could be infinitely replenished. The Gatling gun fired up to 6,000 rounds per minute; just two minutes later, there were no traces of magical beasts left in front of Ye Huan—only countless corpses riddled with wounds.
In fact, they had arrived here four days earlier. When Ye Huan first showcased the Gatling gun and used it in front of Weiyang and Zhang Ren, they immediately began dragging him around to hunt magical beasts, hoping to collect some inner pills.
They did manage to do so, but it was Ye Huan who suffered. Previously, he hardly felt any burden from using firearms like the M4A1 assault rifle or Desert Eagle. However, with the Gatling gun spewing bullets as easily as eating sunflower seeds, Ye Huan clearly felt that the consumption of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy in his Summoning Book was far too great. He could only stuff a Fifth-Level Magical Beast's inner pill into his mouth after each use to replenish it. However, he wasn't a machine; he couldn't operate indefinitely. After putting away the Gatling gun this time, Ye Huan collapsed onto the ground and angrily exclaimed, "Damn it, I'm done!"
Unfortunately for him, Weiyang and Zhang Ren were too excited collecting the inner pills from those Fifth-Level Magical Beasts to hear what Ye Huan said. Watching them rummage through the corpses for inner pills made Ye Huan want to strangle them.
After quite some time, when Weiyang and Zhang Ren finally found all the Beast Inner Pills, they quickly came back to Ye Huan and proudly displayed their haul.
"Alright, alright, you two want to hunt magical beasts for their inner pills, I agree, but it's already been four days. Can we head to Sky Star City now?" Ye Huan waved his hand dismissively at the inner pills that held no interest for him. He didn't even bother to glance at them, popping one into his mouth like a candy and declaring his decision to Weiyang and Zhang Ren.
Leave? Upon hearing Ye Huan's words, Weiyang and Zhang Ren exchanged glances and nodded in agreement. After all, the fifth-level Beast Inner Pills were only useful for recovery at this point; they wouldn't help in improving their strength. Ye Huan had consumed a Seventh-Level Beast Inner Pill to advance from a second-level summoner to Third Rank. Beyond that, these fifth-level pills were merely decorative. Moreover, after four days of gathering, Ye Huan and his companions had amassed an astonishing two hundred fifth-level Magical Beast inner pills, which was more than enough.
Hearing Ye Huan and Weiyang agree with him, Ye Huan finally breathed a sigh of relief. He closed his eyes and began practicing according to the cultivation method that Ye Luo had given him earlier. The Summoning Book floated above his forehead as a small amount of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy gathered on it, slowly being absorbed into the book.
"I really don't understand why you would use the magical beast's inner pills to replenish your energy while still pushing yourself so hard in cultivation..." Weiyang muttered as he noticed Ye Huan's actions. He and Zhang Ren each swallowed a fifth-level Magical Beast inner pill to replenish the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy they had just used. What Weiyang and Zhang Ren didn't know was that Ye Huan had his own reasons for focusing on cultivation during these few days. He had promised Ye Luo that he would enlist in the army, where anything could happen on the battlefield. The more strength he gained, the more assurance he would have for his life. How could he not push himself?
About half an hour later, Ye Huan stood up, the Summoning Book hidden within him. The group began their journey toward Sky Star City under Zhang Ren's guidance.
Fortunately, the Northern Liang Mountain Range was not far from Sky Star City. After Weiyang used wind magic to accelerate their travel, they arrived at Sky Star City in just two hours—about one shichen (a traditional Chinese time unit). However, upon seeing the city, Ye Huan couldn't help but think that calling such a small place a city was quite misleading.
In his view, Sky Star City didn't even have walls; he could see from one end of the street to the other. If it weren't for a stone tablet clearly stating "Sky Star City," he would have doubted whether Zhang Ren had brought them to the wrong place.
In such a small town, it seemed unlikely there would be a lord's mansion. So Ye Huan and the others asked someone where the city lord lived and learned that the lord of Sky Star City did not reside there but rather in a military camp about thirty miles away.
With no other choice, Ye Huan and his companions found out where the military camp was located and headed in that direction. They soon arrived at what was referred to as the Sky Star City military camp.

For over ten days now, the Southern Xiongnu Empire had been continuously harassing the defensive line responsible for Sky Star City. This had caused great headaches for Li Dan, the city lord of Sky Star City. At fifty or sixty years old, constant headaches were no joke. If it weren't for someone from the capital saying a few days ago that Young Master Ye from the Ye Family would come to help soon, Li Dan's headache might have been worse. But five days had passed—where was Young Master Ye?
Cursing under his breath about how young masters from the capital were always late, Li Dan rubbed his temples in an attempt to find some peace and quiet to rest for a moment.
Before he could even find a chair to sit down, a soldier suddenly rushed in with news that three people were seeking an audience at the main gate of the camp. Instantly, Li Dan felt a headache coming on and hurriedly stood up, rushing out of the room and making his way straight to the military camp's entrance.
Upon arriving at the gate, Li Dan saw three young men covered in dust and dirt. He cautiously asked, "What brings you here?"
"I'm Ye Huan, here to enlist..." The leader scratched his head as he spoke. His clothes were somewhat tattered, lacking any semblance of nobility. He had just arrived from Sky Star City. Behind him, Weiyang and Zhang Ren chose to remain silent.
"You are Ye Huan? The eldest son of the Ye Family from the Royal Capital? Please, come in!" Upon realizing that this was indeed Ye Huan from the Ye Family, Li Dan immediately put on a smile and welcomed them into the military camp, leading them toward his conference hall.
As they walked, Ye Huan curiously glanced around and quickly noticed that this military camp was quite large. There were at least a hundred tents capable of accommodating many people, not to mention the training areas taking up additional space.
Once they reached the conference hall, Li Dan had some soldiers bring over a few chairs. Only then did he sit down in the lord's seat with a smile and look at Ye Huan, asking, "Young Master Ye, I heard from someone who came from the capital a few days ago that you would be coming here to assist us. With the Southern Xiongnu Empire constantly disturbing our borders, I won’t be polite anymore. How many troops have you brought with you?"
Troops? Ye Huan had just come down from the Northern Liang Mountain Range; where was he supposed to get any troops? He could only shake his head and softly reply, "I didn't bring any troops this time."
"No troops?" Li Dan frowned, feeling another headache coming on. He rubbed his temples before continuing to ask, "Then may I ask what your strength is, Young Master Ye?"
Strength? Ye Huan was always honest and didn’t hesitate to answer, "I am a Third-Rank Summoner."
"Ah?" Hearing Ye Huan's response left Li Dan speechless. After a long pause, he finally managed to say, "Then how do you plan to help us resist the small-scale army of the Southern Xiongnu Empire?"
Seeing this old man asking one question after another, Weiyang grew impatient and interjected without thinking: "Hey old man, are you annoying or what? We said we came to enlist; who told you we were here to help?"
Li Dan felt somewhat frustrated by this remark. Although he was nearing sixty years old and had some issues with headaches, he still considered himself quite robust and didn’t think of himself as an old man. However, hearing such words from Ye Huan's companion made him feel a bit downcast. As Ye Luo had mentioned, members of the Ye Family who entered the military typically held at least a centurion rank. Upon hearing the arrangement from the Lord of Sky Star City, Ye Huan nodded in agreement without any objections. However, compared to the military rank itself, what concerned Ye Huan more was the statement made by the Lord of Sky Star City about resisting a small-scale army from the Southern Xiongnu Empire.
From that remark, Ye Huan could ascertain that things were definitely not peaceful around Sky Star City. He believed that Ye Luo was also aware of this fact. If Ye Luo knew about it, why did he still come to Sky Star City? Was it to achieve quick merits?
With these thoughts in mind, Ye Huan turned to Lord Li Dan and asked, "By the way, my lord, could you elaborate on what you mentioned regarding the Southern Xiongnu Empire's forces?"
"Ha ha, I must have overlooked that..." Seeing that Ye Huan had readily agreed to take on the role of centurion, Li Dan confirmed that Ye Huan was indeed here to gain experience. However, he couldn't help but worry about what would happen in the coming days. Nevertheless, he began explaining to Ye Huan.
It turned out that over ten days ago, for reasons unknown, several small groups of soldiers from the Southern Xiongnu Empire appeared near the border with Sky Star City. They killed anyone they encountered with extreme ferocity, resulting in significant casualties among the soldiers tasked with guarding the border between the two nations.
As the lord of Sky Star City, Li Dan wanted to retaliate. However, those Southern Xiongnu soldiers only killed and then retreated; they had no intention of entering Huaxia Empire territory. This alone made Li Dan realize how tricky the situation was.
If this continued, dozens or even hundreds of soldiers would die each day. In less than a year, his men would be nearly wiped out. If he retaliated, he couldn't allow his soldiers to cross the border in pursuit for fear of escalating tensions between the two nations. This situation left Li Dan increasingly frustrated.
Understanding how complicated things were, Ye Huan felt this issue was indeed troublesome. Although he wasn't well-versed in politics, he knew that sometimes even minor mismanagement between two countries could spark war. It was best not to get involved in such matters; thus, he chose silence.
However, it seemed that Ye Huan had forgotten there was someone with a big mouth beside him...
