I smiled lightly and walked over to the sofa, turning on the television while asking, "It smells bad, are you still following me?"
Tian Yuan jumped onto the sofa and snuggled up to me. "I am the master's spirit pet. As long as the contract is not dissolved, I cannot leave. I've been with him all these years, and his temper has never improved. But he has been kind to me, so I can't abandon him."
"Who exactly is your master?" I asked curiously, staring at Tian Yuan. "You told Molin that you are a fox spirit; could it be that your master is also a deity?"
Tian Yuan yawned before replying, "I can't tell you. You'll understand once your Demon Fetus is born."
Out of boredom, Tian Yuan and I chatted about various topics while watching television. Time passed quickly, and soon night fell.
When Jun Chong returned, we were watching Running Man, laughing so hard that our stomachs hurt. We had taken out snacks from the fridge and were munching away without feeling hungry.
It wasn't until a shadow blocked the television that I realized he was back. Taotie wasn't with him, but Tao Wu followed closely behind.
"Jun Chong, Tao Wu," I said, wiping away the tears of laughter from my eyes as I set down the potato chips and stood up.
Jun Chong glanced at the mess on the table and twitched his lips but didn't say much. Instead, he piled the snacks in front of me again, and then Tao Wu brought over a cup of water from that side.
Jun Chong took out a small jade bottle from his pocket, uncorked it, and poured the blue liquid inside into the cup.
"It seems Shizui had something like this too," I recalled. After being attacked at Xia Yu's house, my senses had been impaired, and Shizui used this to treat me.
Jun Chong remained silent as he shook the cup to mix the liquid thoroughly before handing me the blue water. "Drink this first."
"What is this?"
"It's something that will change your constitution. To enter the Underworld, you need to separate your body and soul; otherwise, you'll end up in the same situation as last time. However, I overlooked the Demon Fetus inside you. If you separate your body and soul, the Demon Fetus will come out directly."
At this point, Jun Chong glanced at my hand, frowned slightly, and continued speaking, "This thing can directly alter your constitution, making it so that ghosts won't detect the human aura on you."
"Oh."
I found it meaningless and took a sip. The liquid looked like seawater but had no taste. Once swallowed, a cool sensation spread throughout my body, making me feel incredibly relaxed.
With my body feeling light, I found myself drowsily leaning against Jun Chong's chest.
"Jun Chong, I suddenly feel so sleepy."
Jun Chong bent down to pick me up, his voice intentionally lowered and somewhat hoarse. "Sleep now! When you wake up, you'll be there."
Before I could even murmur a response, I lost consciousness. In my hazy state, I felt weightless, as if a tender voice was calling out to me from afar, saying "Mama," or perhaps it was Jun Chong's voice saying something nearby.
I felt like I should wake up but didn't want to. Just as my consciousness was completely engulfed by darkness, I seemed to hear someone whispering in my ear, "The Half-Demon is dead. It seems someone dug out its demon core; its soul has scattered."
The Half-Demon is dead? Why would it die? Wasn't Jun Chong planning to use it to infiltrate the Underworld? Although the other party must have known by now, Jun Chong was pretending to go along with things, so the Half-Demon shouldn't have died.
But suddenly the Half-Demon was dead—so brutally—why?
My remaining consciousness couldn't think too much anymore. Eventually, I fell into a deep sleep that turned out to be quite uncomfortable. When I woke up, I felt sore all over, as if I had engaged in overly strenuous activity the day before; my muscles ached painfully.
I opened my eyes to find myself surrounded by pink bed curtains, with light purple beaded drapes hanging from the bed rail, carrying a faint fragrance.
I blinked and climbed out of the large bed, only to realize I was sleeping on a wide mattress, enveloped by the curtains and drapes. The quilt was made of soft silk, adorned with golden threads, all hand-stitched and lifelike. I was also dressed in a white robe, resembling an ancient undergarment.
Surprised by this place, I reached out to lift the bed curtains and looked around. Diagonally across from the bed stood a dressing table inlaid with colorful beads, dazzlingly beautiful. On it rested a round copper mirror and a lacquered jewelry box.
Next to the dressing table was a screen featuring cranes, draped with embroidered silk depicting lotus flowers in full bloom, stunningly exquisite.
I stepped barefoot onto the floor and walked towards the window, where a porcelain basin held a blue Red Spider Lily. I only knew that there were white and red varieties of this flower; seeing a blue one was indeed a first for me.
I reached out to touch the flower but hesitated, fearing I might disturb something I shouldn't. In the end, I withdrew my hand.
Pushing open the window, I was taken aback to see a massive moon shining brightly in the sky. My gaze was immediately drawn to a rockery across from me, where water flowed over stones with a gurgling sound. However, unlike ordinary water, this one had a blue hue, similar to the liquid Jun Chong had given me to drink.
Surrounding me were pavilions and towers, with eaves jutting out against steep cliffs. Delicate gauze curtains danced in the wind, carrying wafts of fragrance. In the distance, lights twinkled brightly, accompanied by lively sounds reaching my ears.
I marveled at the beauty of this place. "What is this place?"
"This is Fragrant Blossom Pavilion, a brothel."
"Who?"
I leaned out but saw no one on either side. Looking behind me revealed an empty space; we were on the third floor, and there were no climbing spots outside—there seemed to be no place for anyone to hide.
The voice was melodious like Linglong's but spoke only that one sentence before fading away. The night breeze outside was chilling. Suddenly, I heard the sound of a door opening behind me. Before I could turn around, someone draped an outer garment over my shoulders.
"It’s quite chilly here at night; be careful not to catch a cold."
I turned around and found Jun Chong standing behind me. He had taken off his dark robe and changed into a crescent white long shirt. While it lacked the imposing presence of the black robe, it exuded an elegant charm that complemented his naturally cool demeanor, giving him an air of nobility.
A lightning mark on his forehead glowed in fiery red, making his skin appear even more fair and translucent.
"Jun Chong?"
"Yes."
Jun Chong closed the window for me. Noticing that I was gripping his clothing tightly, he lowered his gaze and asked, "What’s wrong?"
"You look completely different in this outfit."
"In what way?"
"In the past, you always gave off a commanding aura. Now, dressed like this in white, you seem a bit more refined."
Jun Chong reached out to brush aside my loose hair. His long, slender fingers were fully visible but did not harm me. He spoke softly, "Which one do you prefer?"
"I like both."
I chuckled as Jun Chong's sliding fingers gently lifted my chin. "Anxin, we are already in the Underworld. I still need to investigate some matters, so you should stay here for now. I've arranged for someone to help you familiarize yourself with the surroundings. But remember, you cannot use the Phantom Spirit Pearl here; I have temporarily sealed it."
"Okay."
I trust him, so I choose not to ask questions about some trivial matters, instead feeling a growing curiosity about this underworld. I had thought it would be similar to the human realm, but to my surprise, it leaned more towards ancient times, which delighted me as someone who once adored the old-fashioned.
"Can I go out and take a look now?"
Jun Chong's lips curled slightly downward, showing some dissatisfaction. "You just arrived, and your body hasn't adjusted yet. We'll talk about it again tomorrow when the sun rises. Right now—" He leaned in closer, his cool breath brushing against me. "Right now, I need to transfer some yin energy to protect you."
Since he only mentioned transferring some yin energy, I assumed it would just be a light kiss. I didn't expect him to deftly peel off my clothes, revealing that I wore nothing underneath. I had no idea where my previous outfit had gone.
"Anxin, you smell so good."
"Jun Chong, you promised it would just be a transfer of energy!"
"A mouth-to-mouth transfer is merely a temporary fix; a deeper exploration is the real transfer."
Jun Chong could lie with a straight face so convincingly that it left no room for rebuttal.
I forced a smile and wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer and whispering mischievously in his ear, "Then after the transfer, promise me one thing!"
"Making demands at this moment can't be anything good." Jun Chong narrowed his eyes at me. My heart raced while I maintained my smile. He stared at me intently for a moment before suddenly taking the pearl from my chest into his mouth. The unexpected sensation made me gasp and arch my back.
"If you make me feel good, I'll agree to anything."
I struggled to suppress the tingling sensation coursing through my body and smiled with narrowed eyes. "You said it!"
"Even if I say it, I can always forget."
Unexpectedly, Jun Chong shamelessly said, propping himself up and removing his crescent-colored clothing, revealing his alluring chest completely. The light hit him, casting shadows in several places, making him appear even more enchanting.
I swallowed hard, unable to respond, while Jun Chong smiled wickedly, grabbing my hand and placing it on a certain part of his body. I immediately felt shy and wanted to pull away, but he said, "Do you still want me to fulfill your request?"
"..." I was momentarily stunned, then pouted in dissatisfaction and said, "You're being unreasonable! Threatening me like that, you stingy brat."
"Your unreasonable stinginess will make you feel so good that all you'll see is me."
As he spoke, he leaned down and took a forbidden area into his mouth. I gripped the bedsheet with both hands, desperately enduring. The night was filled with unexpected springtime joy, yet concealed by the pink curtains; only the two of us embraced each other in pleasure as we reached greater heights together.
After two rounds, I was breathless, my hands pressed against Jun Chong's firm chest as I gasped, "I can't anymore; I'm so tired."
"Is that all you can do?" Jun Chong scoffed but still covered me with a blanket and held me close. "I'll let you off this time; go to sleep!"
"Okay."
I murmured softly and closed my eyes but then heard him say, "Anxin, you must stay safe. If this choice turns out to be a mistake, then I will accompany you through it this time; I won't let you be alone again. So please believe in me no matter what happens."
I didn't understand what those words meant to him at that moment, but I felt incredibly happy because he chose me.
