I widened my eyes in surprise, my mouth slightly agape as I gazed at the woman at the door. With a small nose and delicate features framed by an oval face and a pointed chin, she was undeniably beautiful. Her long, jet-black hair was casually styled, and she wore a simple, elegant long skirt. Standing tall with a smile at the corners of her mouth, she exuded an air of grace. 0

In that moment, I felt that Molin must have accumulated some incredible fortune in his past life to attract such a stunning beauty, and yet he seemed unsatisfied. 0

One of my subordinates shivered, and I reflexively closed the door, shouting toward Molin, who was pouring himself a drink, " Molin, come here quickly!" 0

"What is it?" 0

I pointed at the front door. "The one outside is Qian Qian. She wouldn't be here to confront you about not wanting to marry her, would she? What are we going to do?" 0

Molin leaned closer to take a look and was momentarily taken aback before shaking his head. "I don't know, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Just open the door!" 0

"Oh!" As soon as I opened the door, I greeted Qian Qian with a hearty laugh. "Sorry about earlier; please come in!" 0

"Thank you." Qian Qian nodded subtly at me, glanced at Molin, and then said, "Anxin, I'm sorry for coming here today to talk to Molin. You can step out for a bit, right? Don't worry; I've already sent your friend home safely. I realize now that what I did was wrong; I shouldn't have harmed so many people for my own selfish desires. I also understand that Molin doesn't want to marry me. So today, I'm not here to force him into marriage; I just want to say a few words." 0

In just one day, Qian Qian's attitude had done a complete turnaround. I was taken aback by her words but felt relieved knowing Lin You was safe. I quickly agreed, "You two go ahead; I'll step out for a bit to grab something to eat." 0

I went back to my room to grab my wallet and phone before heading out. Just before leaving, I reminded Molin, "Ask her about that person's whereabouts and be polite; she's at least here to admit her mistakes." 0

Molin didn't respond, but I caught the eye roll he gave me. I touched my nose and left. 0

As I walked downstairs, I looked up at the brightly lit living room and smiled. 0

If this matter could be resolved, that would be the best outcome. 0

I tightened my coat around me as I prepared to head to the supermarket. Molin had quite an appetite, and there wasn't enough food in the fridge for him. Just a few steps outside, I spotted someone under the streetlight. 0

"Mr. Shizui." I felt surprised as I approached him. "What are you doing here?" 0

Shizui pointed upstairs with a smile, and I instantly understood. "So it was you who asked Qian Qian to come?" 0

"Yes." Shizui looked at me and smiled lightly. "I see you're planning to go out. Shall I accompany you?" 0

"Sure." I had questions to ask him anyway, so I didn't refuse. The supermarket wasn't far; we could walk there easily. "Mr. Shizui, did you know that Molin was in trouble, which is why you specifically asked Qian Qian to resolve this?" 0

"Qian Qian has a simple nature. This matter was orchestrated by someone behind the scenes, and she is also a victim. Although she is a Drought Demon, keeping her around would only benefit Molin, not harm him. So I spoke with Qian Qian once, and she agreed." 0

I looked at him curiously. "Why is Qian Qian beneficial to Molin?" 0

"This relates to Molin's background; you'll understand in the future." Shizui had his hands in his pockets as he slowed his pace. "I promised his sister that I would do everything to protect him and ensure he lives well." 0

At this point, Shizui turned his head slightly, placing a slender finger on his lips. "However, you must keep this matter a secret from him. He hates me so much that he wouldn't be pleased with my involvement." 0

"Okay, I will." I nodded. "Although I don't know what your past is like, I believe that one day some misunderstandings will be resolved, and everything will move in a positive direction." 0

"So this is how you comfort yourself after the Ghost Marriage?" Shizui suddenly stopped walking, his dark eyes blending into the night like an unfathomable abyss, carrying an untouchable taboo. "And now you're in love with Jun Chong without any regrets?" 0

I was taken aback and felt a surge of alertness. "How do you know about Jun Chong? Who are you?" 0

"I am the First Rakshasa, Rong Zhi." Shizui narrowed his eyes slightly, disappearing into the endless darkness as he spoke each word deliberately. "Jun Chong is my master." 0

"Oh my." 0

I gasped in surprise, while under the streetlight, Shizui smiled gently, like a breath of spring air. 0

"I had sensed his aura on you before, but when I saw you again that day, I noticed his blood lingered on you more intensely than before. That's how I knew you were the woman he chose." 0

I felt flustered and quickly looked away, my cheeks burning as I fidgeted with my fingers awkwardly. "Actually, the Ghost Marriage was just a coincidence." 0

"How could there be such a coincidence? I sought you out because you are the only one." 0

"What?" 0

In response to my confusion, Shizui did not explain further. Instead, he pulled out a small box from his pocket, about the size of a palm. "Since you are his woman, that makes you half my master. I can trust you with this." 0

"What is it?" 0

I took the box and opened it, feeling that the shock I experienced tonight was the greatest I had ever felt. A gentle breeze brushed against me, sending a chill through my body. "Is this the White Pearl? How do you have it?" 0

"I know Jun Chong has been looking for his body since he woke up. These two were brought from Hell and fell right beside me. They still carry his aura. There are a total of seven; once found, they can unlock the first layer of the barrier." 0

"The first layer of the barrier?" 0

"Did Jun Chong not tell you anything?" Shizui looked at me, and I shook my head. "He didn't want me to be in danger, so he kept me in the dark. But Shizui, I really want to help him, not just be someone who holds him back." 0

I tightly grasped the box, lowering my head to suppress the rising emotion. In that moment, I truly missed Jun Chong and wondered how he was doing in Tianshan. 0

Shizui reached out and ruffled my hair, his lips moving lightly. "You won't fail; you're very capable." 0

I sniffled; although he was merely comforting me, it also served as motivation. "Thank you, Mr. Shizui." 0

After Shizui and I made a round at the supermarket and he dropped me off, only Molin remained at home. He sat quietly on the sofa, hands covering his face, motionless. The lights in the living room were turned off, and only the moonlight spilled in, casting a soft glow on the small floor space. The silver light scattered around made Molin seem somewhat unfamiliar. 0

I set down my things and walked over to him, worriedly asking, "What happened? Did Qianqian leave?" 0

"Yes." Molin lifted his head; his eyes were dim and weary, his voice slightly hoarse. "I asked her about that person, but she only said it was a man who always appeared wrapped in a black cloak, obscuring his face and speaking in a raspy voice." 0

"So the lead has gone cold again?" 0

"Mm." 0

I sat down next to Molin, but he remained eerily quiet. I didn't say anything, and neither did he. Still feeling uneasy, I tugged at his shirt and asked, "Are you okay?" 0

"I'm fine. Just thinking about how badly I'll be scolded by my master. I'll go see him first thing tomorrow morning and be back in a few days. You take care of yourself." 0

"What about the Blood on the Tongue?" 0

Molin casually smirked and stood up from the sofa. "It's no longer needed." 0

As I watched Molin's departing figure, I suddenly felt a sense of unfamiliarity. Something must have happened between him and Qian Qian that he couldn't let me know about. 0

But since Molin's master had once ordered him to kill Qian Qian when she hadn't harmed anyone yet, and now that she had killed someone, I worried whether he would face punishment for letting her go this time. 0

Or was he preparing to face death? 0

My anxiety grew stronger as I chased after Molin and grabbed his shirt. "Don't do this. Everything can be resolved. If it comes to it, I'll go back with you. If you die, I'll be heartbroken." 0

"Idiot, I'm not going to die." 0

"Why not?" 0

Molin's face flushed instantly, his eyes darting around awkwardly as if he was trying to hide something. He forcefully shook off my hand. "I'm tired; I'm going to sleep." 0

I stood there in a daze, even more curious about what had just happened between him and Qian Qian. 0

The next day, when I woke up, Molin was gone. The house felt empty with just me left behind. Looking around the spacious place, I felt a pang of loneliness. 0

Having grown accustomed to someone's company, returning to a life alone was quite unsettling. 0

“Jun Chong, how are you doing now? When will you come back? I really miss you.” 0

Suddenly, my phone rang. I saw it was an unknown number. After ringing for a long time, I answered it, and before I could say anything, Lin You's loud voice came through. 0

“Anxin, you little brat! You better come see me! I've been worried sick for days and almost died. Where the hell are you? Hurry up and come see me, or we’re done!” 0

Her roar was so powerful that even with the phone held away from my ear, I could hear her clearly. 0

“I know, I’m coming right away. Where are you?” 0

“At home!” 0

With a loud thud, I heard Lin You seemingly slam the phone down on the table, and then the call ended. Staring at my phone, I suddenly felt a lump in my throat and a wave of tears threatened to spill. 0

Knowing that Lin You was safe was the best thing for me. 0

Later, when I reflected on that moment, I remembered Lin You once asking me, “Anxin, why do you keep saving me over and over again?” 0

With tears in my eyes, I answered without hesitation, “Because you are my best friend; you are family.” 0

In truth, many times the things we do have no specific purpose or reason. Sometimes we just feel compelled to act, and it’s as simple as that. 0

Just like with Jun Chong; once I loved him, there was no turning back. 0
