Li Xiaonan rested his elbows on his thighs, squatting to the side and said, "This guy is your Inner Demon."
Qing An nodded, his gaze fixed intensely on the Western Emperor.
This was the Inner Demon of Dustless from back in the day, also his own Inner Demon, and the head of the Demon Emperor formed by the fusion of five high monks' Inner Demons.
Before them, the figure gradually transformed. His black hair floated lightly, and his eerie red eyes turned into a pair of starry eyes that were kind and handsome.
Compared to the legendary Tang Seng, he was undoubtedly even more striking.
What was even more astonishing was that this person had an unusually slender build, resembling a woman, which revealed Dustless's true form.
Li Xiaonan stared blankly at the Western Emperor, then at Qing An, and couldn't help but mutter, "Wow, no wonder this is Qing An's Inner Demon; they're all pretty boy types."
Qing An pretended not to hear and said loudly, "Dust returns to dust; you’ve been away from me for so long. It’s time to come back."
The Inner Demon exclaimed in fear, "No! You can't take me back! Li Xiaonan, you have to plead for me; tell him not to take me!"
Li Xiaonan, who had been drawing circles in the corner, asked in confusion, "Why on earth would I plead for you?"
The Inner Demon hurriedly replied, "If it weren't for me, you wouldn't be where you are today."
Li Xiaonan became even more perplexed. "Huh? My current situation has nothing to do with you. If you're begging for mercy, that's not how it's done. Qing An, just take him."
The Inner Demon anxiously said, "Wait! Li Xiaonan, you can't be ungrateful! If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have had the chance to save the Green Fairy Queen. If you hadn't saved her, she would have offered herself to you and given you the Divine Tree Seed!"
Li Xiaonan was momentarily taken aback, immediately understanding the implication of his words: in order to save someone, there first had to be a victim.
He suddenly stood up and exclaimed, "It was you who poisoned them!"
"That's right, it was me. For this very reason, you should be thanking me," came the reply.
Li Xiaonan smirked coldly, "Ha! I've been looking for the murderer, and now you've delivered yourself right to me. Thank you? Thank you for nothing! Qing An, stop listening to his nonsense and take him down!"
Qing An nodded slightly, hands clasped together as he murmured incantations.
Seeing the situation turning against him, the Inner Demon quickly interjected, "Wait! There's more! If it weren't for me, Fei Ji wouldn't have entered the Cultivation Realm, and you wouldn't have comprehended Spatial Law. For that alone, you should help me!"
The mention of Spatial Law referred to the teachings Fei Ji had passed on to Li Xiaonan regarding the Spatial Magic Path, which was originally a signature skill of the Western Emperor.
Having been trapped in the Demon Realm for so many years, the Western Emperor had constantly sought ways to break free from Spatial Law and see the light of day again, leading to the development of the Spatial Magic Path.
Li Xiaonan's smile turned into a grimace as he said, "So it turns out that Fei'er attacking the Cultivation Realm was also because of you helping her—either that or you're trying to redeem yourself."
With his hands together, Li Xiaonan summoned an endless stream of Buddha's Vital Energy that flowed into his palms.
The Inner Demon panicked instantly and shouted, "No! Fei Ji is my daughter! If I merge with Dustless, Fei Ji will also disappear!"
Almost simultaneously, Qing An's recitation of scriptures sent forth strands of golden light towards the Inner Demon.
Li Xiaonan hadn't yet processed the Inner Demon's words when urgency surged within him; he instinctively struck out with a palm, sending those golden symbols flying away.
The Inner Demon fell to the ground and began to laugh sinisterly. "I foresaw all of this long ago. As long as you love Fei Ji, you won't be able to do anything to me!"
Li Xiaonan suddenly brandished the Carefree Fan, pressing it firmly against his throat. "You are Fei Ji's father, a useless waste. Weren't you supposed to be dead? How are you alive again and turned into an Inner Demon? Explain this to me clearly."
Fei Ji gently pushed the Carefree Fan away with a finger and smiled. "By seniority, you should still call me Father-in-law. Back when those filthy monks threw me and four other brothers here, we were constantly thinking about how to escape this cage."
Li Xiaonan exchanged a glance with Qing An, both unable to suppress a slight frown.
If what Fei Ji said was true, then this matter was indeed quite tricky.
Fei Ji continued, "Day after day, year after year, yet there was no progress. We decided to separate the Five Demons, which later became the Demon Realm Five Emperors. Unfortunately, those four fellows didn’t take things seriously and ended up bickering among themselves, forgetting who they were in the end."
Li Xiaonan couldn't help but nod slightly; indeed, time could make one forget many things.
For instance, the Demon Emperor—Father-in-law—was originally from Buddhism, yet now he had forgotten his identity and only vaguely remembered his mission.
Fei Ji looked disdainful. "The Carefree Dual Cultivation Group sounds impressive, but it's really just the head of a prison."
Li Xiaonan waved his hand. "Stop with the nonsense. How did you give birth to Fei'er? How did you die later? And how did you merge with those Four Emperors? I don't have the patience to waste time with you."
"Hehehe, I was once the Inner Demon of Dustless Buddha. Even as a jailer, I was the strongest. After some speculation, I found a loophole in Spatial Law, and the key to that loophole turned out to be a woman—a half-dragon, half-human woman."
Li Xiaonan immediately understood; the half-dragon, half-human must be Ling Kui.
No wonder Fei'er had once possessed Ling Kui; it was all because of Fei Ji's schemes.
"In order to break Spatial Law, I split off part of myself to create my daughter and named her Ji to remind myself of my origins. However, it didn't help much; perhaps due to the split, my memory became increasingly poor. In the end, all I remembered was that I needed to advance into the Cultivation realm; everything else faded away..."
Fei Ji sighed and continued, "Constantly predicting drained my magic power, and I ended up dying in such a pathetic manner. But it’s fine; after being reborn in Blood Pool, I recalled everything. With a bit of speculation, I calculated that the lives of those other fellows wouldn’t be long either. So I decided to wait for them at Blood Pool until they could merge back together."
His expression suddenly turned cold as he shot a fierce glance, saying, "I guessed the beginning but not the end. I never expected you to be so powerful that you destroyed my demonic form with self-detonation and reincarnated. This prevented my brothers from seeking revenge on you. All my hard work was just to make you a wedding dress, and the true key to breaking the Spatial Law is not the Dragon Maiden, but you."
Fei Ji's words unraveled many of Li Xiaonan's doubts, yet they only deepened his frown.
Li Xiaonan understood the continuation of life in the demon race; theoretically, the offspring split from the mother body should have no direct connection. This meant that since Fei Ji was taken by Qing An, she should be fine.
However, Li Xiaonan did not dare to gamble. If something went wrong, wouldn't Fei'er also disappear?
Fei Ji, already a demon essence, immediately sensed Li Xiaonan's concerns and suspicions.
He said, "I'm not lying to you. The demon race has two types of splits: one is a simple split, and the other is a heritage split. Fei Ji and I belong to the latter; she has gained part of my abilities, so our bond is very deep."
As Fei Ji spoke with a smug expression, Li Xiaonan felt a surge of anger inside.
His eyes flickered slightly as a cold light flashed by unintentionally.
Fei Ji noticed it clearly and couldn't help but swallow hard, staring intently at Li Xiaonan, unsure if he would plead for him.
Li Xiaonan walked over to Qing An and said, "Consider this a personal favor to me; don't take him."
Qing An frowned slightly and replied, "I know you don't want Fei Ji to come to harm, but my Inner Demon tells me that if I let him go today, he will become a great threat in the future."
Li Xiaonan smirked slightly and said, "When did I say I wanted to let him go?"
Fei Ji barely had time to feel happy before his heart sank again.
Li Xiaonan patted Qing An on the shoulder and said, "The New Buddha Realm has just been born. As half a Buddhist Disciple, I'll give you another Buddhism treasure to congratulate you on becoming part of the Carefree Dual Cultivation Group. How about that?"
Qing An looked at the faint smile on Li Xiaonan's face and immediately understood the meaning behind his words.
Li Xiaonan intended to use the excuse of refining a Buddhism artifact to seal Fei Ji as a Spirit Tool.
Qing An smiled and said, "That sounds wonderful. I wonder what kind of artifact you plan to give me."
"You already have a Cassock and a Cushion, so how about I gift you a string of prayer beads?" Li Xiaonan pondered for a moment before responding with a smile.
Even someone as oblivious as Fei Ji could catch the implication in their conversation, especially given his own complicated thoughts.
He quickly guessed what kind of "medicine" Li Xiaonan was trying to sell him. He exclaimed, "You can't do this to me, Li Xiaonan! I curse you! I curse you to have sons who—"
"Smack!" A loud slap interrupted Fei Ji's words.
Li Xiaonan shouted angrily, "You’re just asking for it! Qing An, I've decided to give you a Muyu so you can hit him every day until he wakes up one day and willingly wants to return to your body and cut off all ties with Fei Ji. Then you can come find me."
As soon as Li Xiaonan finished speaking, a fierce glint flashed in his eyes as he directly broke off a branch of divine wood from the Spirit Platform.
Using divine wood as the main body for the Buddhist Artifact was indeed an investment.
He drew his hands in intricate patterns, enveloping Fei Ji in a radiant light.
Fei Ji was engulfed in smoke, continuously wailing in agony.
Every time he tried to curse, Li Xiaonan would deliver another slap that made him see stars.
And this was just the beginning of Fei Ji's suffering.
Li Xiaonan spread his hands, and the divine wood merged in golden light to transform into a Muyu. He shouted, "Qing An, recite the scriptures!"
Qing An immediately understood and clasped his hands together, murmuring the scriptures. Li Xiaonan was not idle either, continuously forming hand seals.
The segments of the Sutra transformed into golden runes that fell onto the Muyu, layering upon one another to create an exceptionally intricate pattern, exuding a strong aura of Buddhism.
After completing the final hand gesture, Li Xiaonan reached out and virtually grasped Fei Ji, pulling her into the Muyu. He then pressed his palms together and said, "Calm Heart Muyu, condense."
An ancient-looking Muyu hovered in the air, radiating a gentle golden light.
Li Xiaonan extended his right hand, and the Muyu settled steadily into his palm.
He handed it to Qing An and said, "Give it a try."
Qing An nodded, taking it with one hand while holding a wooden stick in the other. He began to tap it rhythmically.
With each tap, a flash of golden light erupted, filled with mysterious runes. At the same time, Fei Ji within the Calm Heart Muyu let out a pained wail.
Qing An couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. "This is my first time using such a treasure. Every time I use it, the spirit of the tool suffers instead. Only you could come up with something like this."
