If it weren't for the beating mass of flesh in Li Xiaonan's chest, he would have thought he had already died from the pain.

As soon as Su Mei stepped out the door, Li Xiaonan slammed it shut with all his might, cutting off all contact with his mother.
Leaning against the door, he took deep breaths, trying to calm his emotions, but his chest still felt like it was splitting apart with pain.

Outside the door, Su Mei glanced back at the closed door. She took out her phone from her bag and dialed a number.
"Hello, Xiao Chen? Help me look up someone..."

Li Xiaonan glanced at the phone on the table and couldn't help but think that the song playing was quite fitting.
He muttered, "What love! What nonsense!"
A string of unfamiliar numbers flashed on the LCD screen, and Li Xiaonan instinctively answered the call.

"Guess who I am?"
"Chen Mo? How did you get my number?"

He switched his phone to airplane mode and climbed into bed.

Fifteen minutes later, the three sat in a barbecue restaurant. With a round of beers ordered, Li Xiaonan had already downed a bottle.
Chen Mo frowned and snatched the second bottle from his hands. "If your stomach hurts tonight, don't expect me to buy you medicine!"
Li Xiaonan wiped his mouth and said nothing.
He had briefly recounted the events that had transpired on their way here.
Cunning Li shook his phone. "There's still a video! Tomorrow I'll leak it to the magazine and the newspaper. Let's see how that woman can act so arrogantly after Principal Fang is gone!"
Li Xiaonan was taken aback; no wonder Su Mei came looking for him—she must have known that Scheming had more tricks up her sleeve.

Scheming frowned slightly but still took out the storage card from her phone. "Do you have a better plan?"

"Make her go bankrupt? That's not a bad idea!" Cunning Li took a sip of beer and nodded.
"One hundred eighty thousand will be enough."
"What kind of joke is that? You need money, and I'm giving it to you! Eight hundred thousand? How can you even ask for that? At least add another zero at the end!" Cunning Li scoffed, putting down the bottle.

Chen Mo slammed his hand on the table, stood up, and shouted, "Do you really want to die? Can't you have some ambition?"
Li Xiaonan was taken aback, realizing he had fallen into Chen Mo's trap.
"I’m not trying to die; you're setting me up!"
"If you don't want to die, how could I easily set you up? Li Xiaonan, listen to me: if anything happens to you, I won't live either!"
Cunning Li rolled her eyes and silently watched the two in front of her, feeling a bit disheartened.

Chen Mo's face flushed red, and she fell silent, burying her head in the grilled skewers.
She stole a glance at the corner of Li Xiaonan's mouth, which held a hint of a smile, and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief; it was the first time Li Xiaonan had smiled that evening.
After dinner, the two Li Xiaonans escorted Chen Mo to the dormitory building.
Cunning Li's handsome features immediately attracted quite a crowd.
