“Lady Fei Ji, the council will officially begin in three days. Please rest here for now,” a Ten-Winged Witch led Fei Ji and Li Xiaonan to a guest room.
Li Xiaonan glanced around at the furnishings, which were more akin to a modern hotel: a clean white double bed, a desk with a wooden chair, and a brown leather sofa by the window, with a wooden Tea Table in front.
It seemed that Central Land was quite wealthy after all.
“This young master, please follow me; your room is next door.”
Li Xiaonan nodded, but before he could move, Fei Ji grabbed his shoulder. “No need for that; we’ll share a room. You can go now!”
The Witch was taken aback but nodded and exited the room.
Fei Ji’s expression turned icy as she stepped in front of Li Xiaonan. “Have you already forgotten what I said?”
Li Xiaonan's muscles twitched on his face as he thought to himself: What did you say?
Out loud, he replied, “Of course I remember! How could I forget? Every word you said is etched in my mind and heart!”
“Hmph! Flattery!”
Her sun-kissed cheeks held a faint pink hue, making her particularly alluring.
Li Xiaonan chuckled foolishly a couple of times, then walked over to the bed. He jumped twice on the soft mattress and exclaimed, “So soft! Finally, a bed to sleep on!”
But as soon as he spoke, he realized an issue: there was only one bed in the room. Although it was large, it was still just one.
He sighed and reluctantly moved to the nearby sofa, sinking into it despondently. Inner Thoughts: I really am not destined to sleep in a bed!
Could the bed in the Starry Illusion Continent be this hard? The soft mattress I long for seems impossible to sleep on in this lifetime. Sigh... I wonder where Ling Kui is.
Li Xiaonan slowly closed his eyes, and the Spirit Tree in the Spirit Platform began to move again, its leaves trembling violently, all pointing towards the south.

Just as he was about to push it open to take a look, someone behind him suddenly said, "Little brother, why are you out here? Oh, you must be looking for a restroom!"
Jack placed a hand on Li Xiaonan's shoulder. Li Xiaonan lowered his head, squinting as he contemplated his next move. Regardless of whether Ling Kui was there or not, he couldn't easily miss the opportunity to participate in the demon realm's advance into the Cultivation world.
He smiled and looked up. "Oh, it's Brother Jack! I got lost; every room looks the same here, and I couldn't find the restroom, so I ended up wandering around!"
"Haha! There's one right in your room; why did you come out?"

Jack shook his head and laughed. "Fei Ji is a famous beauty in our demon realm. What's wrong with sharing a room with a beauty? By the way, since you feel it's inconvenient, why not come to my place? I think we get along well; let's have some drinks and chat. Also, I can show you some good stuff!"
"That sounds great!" Li Xiaonan agreed readily. However, he thought differently: As a cultivator whose powers had been rendered useless, there was no reason for him to be treated so kindly or invited for drinks and gifts. This could only mean one thing: The five great elders of the demon realm were not united; rather, they likely had mutual checks and balances.
With the demon war approaching, information was the most valuable asset! Whoever could grasp firsthand information would seize more resources.
Thus, the weakest among them, Fei Ji, had become the leader of this council. Moreover, since she was the one who opened the passage, it could be said that the other four elders were likely to be the most wary of her.

“Come on! Let’s have a drink first!” Jack pushed open a pair of resplendent double doors and pulled Li Xiaonan onto the sofa, eagerly pouring a drink into a silver cup.

Li Xiaonan nodded with a smile and followed Jack into the inner room. This demon truly had deep schemes; it seemed he still didn’t fully trust me.
Jack took out a wooden box from a cabinet and tossed it to Li Xiaonan. “Open it and take a look!”
"This is it!" A black handgun lay quietly in the box.
"This is called the Ghost Gun; it can be used without any True Essence! Let me show you, big brother!" Jack picked up the Ghost Gun and pulled the trigger towards the window.
"Boom!" A burst of silver light shot out from the muzzle.
"It can fire a total of seven shots, with a cooldown time of half an hour. One shot can take down anything below Eight Wings! Of course, that’s assuming you hit!"
Li Xiaonan struggled to control his expression. With this treasure in hand, ambushing Ten Wings would be no problem—headshots, chest shots, anywhere he wanted!
"Big brother, you’re too good to me!"
Jack looked at the tears glistening in Li Xiaonan's eyes and felt quite satisfied. Of course, he didn’t know those tears were not from being moved but from holding back laughter.
"Li Xiaonan! Get out here!" A lion's roar came from outside the room. Li Xiaonan couldn't help but shiver; he felt the urge to use the restroom again.
"It seems Fei'er really cares about you. Just a little while after leaving, she came looking for you! We’ll find another time to talk before the council!"
"Okay! Thank you, big brother!" Li Xiaonan tucked the Ghost Gun into his waistband. Jack thought mischievously: This kid has some guts; he’s not even afraid of accidentally firing and blowing himself up!
When Fei Ji found Li Xiaonan, the two men were sitting on the sofa drinking.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed? Do you think your life is too long?"
Li Xiaonan stared blankly at Fei Ji, who was like a mother tiger. As soon as she entered the room, she sent his silver cup flying against the wall and yanked him out.
"Bang!" Li Xiaonan was dragged back into the room and thrown onto the sofa, with the door slammed shut behind them.
"Li Xiaonan, I warn you, don’t wander around or speak carelessly. Otherwise, you won’t even know how you died! Don’t expect me to collect your body!"
"Fei'er, don't be angry. I only had a little bit of alcohol. It's nothing... I'm fine..."

"Hey! Brother, what brings you here?"

Jack's face lit up as he welcomed Li Xiaonan into the room.

On the white bed lay a woman, her hands and feet bound by iron chains. Azure silks fell messily across her face, and two faint tear streaks glimmered with a tragic beauty under the red light.
"Ling Kui!"
Her long eyelashes fluttered as she looked at the man before her. Ling Kui smiled and closed her eyes, mocking herself for dreaming of Xiao Nan again...
